I doubt that even if Mahathir were to meet Xi many times, he would have the character to absorb the values of Xi, which helped China eradicate extreme poverty. Anwar on the other hand, shared the same values of Xi, thus their meeting is full of mutual respect in spite of the great difference between the power status of the two countries.
