A marvelous excursion with VM. While there is deterioration, overall the rock structures still show much of their beauty in your pics. To think that you had the place to yourself, for your visit. I feel it is a privilege to be a viewer of your wonderful work.

Thank you for sharing this. I guess I'm not the only human who likes rocks. Peterson's Rock Gardens needs to be preserved. It's not only a valuable heritage site, but is also an honest example of one man's labor of love. "Maine" says "Hello"
Edit: I forgot to mention that I was camping with two friends atop one of the 3 Sisters in 1980 when Mt. St. Helen first blew. The sound we heard sounded like the whole earth was groaning because it was dying. It didn't sound like it was traveling through the air, but through the whole grounds as well. Maybe one mountain conversing with another one for all I honestly know, but that's what it was like when we were camping there. I've never heard a sound so moanful as that one was.

Sad to see some of these attractions fall into disrepair.

Very enjoyable, once again. Lots of feel good buzzes, just from seeing the first few before and after shots, and seeing just how much is still there, even if later ones show the decay of recent times. The easy to follow geology lesson was a bonus! As ever you go above and beyond a simple "before and after" comparison. Wonderful viewing.

This is amazing. Such a cool find. I've been through that area of Oregon a few times and never knew that was there. Hopefully they can get it preserved and protected. Did these type of attractions often pay the company to have View Master reels made as a sort of advertising?

Yes, they paid to have reels made that they could sell at gift shops or list in the view master catalogs. Some of those kinds of reels are the most rare now.
