Talk about being in the right place at the right time. Joining Trivium , recording a new album with Trivium and as if that wasn’t enough get the opportunity to record on a track that will feature Chester Benington , Mark Morton at that same timeframe. That is awsome I would’ve been pinching myself every 5 seconds to make sure I wasn’t dreaming lol
Dude, it's actually nice to see how a producer can add to the product. You could see it Alex face when he did the crash/ride/crash sequence on the breakdown.
believe it or not, producers are the reason why most of the bands sound really good, The band just plays what inspires them/what they've written during recording, and the producer will do all the rest of their masterpieces. Producers know how instruments should sound, so they may put in their ideas instrumentally and/or digitally into the mix as well. Sometimes, it's painful to produce music to someone with like ADHD who wants to know everything and wants to sound their music to what they want it to be so the producers needs to try to keep up with them which is really difficult, boring and more time-consuming, so kudos to every music producers for the efforts!
MarkyPaligs that’s pretty spot on. This was their project not one of mine so Josh (the producer) was very involved in that aspect. I went in knowing the core of the song and he changed stuff throughout to make it sound better or change the feel. Josh is incredible 🤘
@@AlexBent Definitely my favorite song since it was released, I am truly amazed by the drumming you did. You are a super talented drummer, I think a playthrough video would be very cool 😁 Greetings from Hungary✌️
Well mario is already classed as one of the best drummer on earth, so saying that he doesn’t get enough credit is not true , but i agree that alex dont get enough credit
Dude?! I was drawn to the drumming on this Treasure feat Chester Bennington without knowing the drummer was my favorite one of all time! Alex Bent and Chester Bennington? I didn't believe in heaven until now! You rock Alex!!! RIP Chester
This is a professional at work people. Punches into parts with little warning after taking some quick direction. You have to know the material inside and out. Also, Sick track guys. 🤘🏻❤️💪🏻
I never thought I would say this, because Chris is one of my favorite drummers, but I feel like he could pick up a few things from Alex, anyone who disagrees, listen to The Sin and the Sentence and What the Dead Men Say, both Albums in their entirety and come back and talk to me.
@WhoDarestheMAN gamer No, because I dont think it's amazing because of the skill it's amazing because it fits perfectly to the song, if he wants he could do blastbeats and 300bpm double bass but that doesn't fit to the song and he plays really tight in one take. You don't see that very often today because. That's my reason to say he plays it amazing.
Some mighty fine drumming right here. Amazing talent. I love how you can easily jump back into the grove of playing moments after stopping and having to start off a few seconds prior. A professional unlike any other. Thanks for posting this and for sharing it with us.
Easily one of my favorite tracks this year! Stellar work from everyone involved! I really enjoy the glimpse behind the curtain to see the nuts and bolts of your work. Thank you for the video!
As expected, you absolutely killed it on this recording. It's awesome to see the process in the studio and how you can pivot on a dime when asked to do something different. 🤘
You know nothing about drumming if you think Kollias is better. Alex actually has feeling in his playing...any decent metal drummer can blast beat that fast if that’s ALL THEY DO FOR EVERY SONG! He’s good don’t get me wrong, but he’s boring as fuck.
Dude , to see you rise into the top drummer that you have has been awesome! You have such talent and skill and it's a pleasure to watch you play. Bravo.
Brilliant performance! I really dig the extended lead gtr bit here as well. It’s unfortunate that the tasty first half of the lick was cut from the final track. thanks for sharing
I remember seeing you with Arkaik for the Metamorphignition tour cycle and thinking that you would end up doing it big, glad to see your talent and determination got you the attention you deserve, still miss you playing for Arkaik tho. Cheers.
Didn't realise he was the man behind the kit on this one. Makes sense, though, I definately noticed the drums on the first listen. This guy is a machine!
Chester's voice and double bass drumming go so well together. I've been playing drums since 08, went from nu-metal to metalcore to grind death as my preferred sub genre to play and I've said I would love Chester to go heavier than LP, than DBS.
At 0:41 he looks at the camera and what I assume is where the recording guys are, almost as if they gave him the go ahead to do that crazy ride bell and splash cymbal beat down a couple seconds later
My friend is a student of Mark Morton. Patrick McMullen . He has degree in guitars....awesome drummer . Nice studio track skills .right left. . left crash. Yes.
Same. Always thought Chester would be sick in a true metal band. When I heard this, it proved it to me. Lamb of gif and trivium are my of my favorite bands of all time and linkin park was a huge part of my early teen years in 2000
This song until I looked up the cast I thought the drummer was the drummer from Suicide Silence bc the style is very similar in this song. Still love this song
It's 2024 and I still come back periodically to watch this video from beginning to end.
the creative process is fun to watch!

Mario Duplantier and Alex Bent dont get enough credit. Alex especially!

I feel people criminally underrate Brooks Wackerman as well. The drums on The Stage album are outstanding

same, seeing paulo and alex there all of sudden in a song with chester's vocals was like a truck hitting me.

me too.......honestly got chris adler vibes
@@MichaelBerrahe's very different from Chris Adler. If there's anyone who can be his comparison, that would be Joey Jordison
See, he's a good drummer. No need for stick twirls or flips or anything fancy. Just pure grit and determination to get that quality sound.
Stick tricks are inappropriate in the studio anyway imo...

I was going to make a comment along these lines as well. This shows his professionalism as well as just being a bad ass drummer.
It must mean so much to contribute to such an important song in the history of hard rock and metal
Gotta bring your A game when tracking a song for Mark Morton. Especially when he's use to Chris adler..Alex always brings it !!
Alex could fill in right now for Chris in Lamb of God and do it with ease.

Such a quick learner, they're chucking all the info and he just play's it to a T! That ride pattern was mint

Such a dope video. Thanks for posting a full clip, with the outtakes and all.
Its amazing how a simple change from crash to ride at the end of the video really changed the part.
I know NOTHING about drumming but know everything about perfection when I see it. Well done. WOW!
He is mortal after all. Still exceptional
