It may be my least favorite Souls game but I’m not hating on it (just to clarify), but this kind of “difficulty” in ER reminds me a lot of DS2’s frustrating moments: Tons of annoying or strong enemies in narrow spaces (especially in the DLC). Either that or two/three bosses at once just to “increase” the difficulty: - Gank Squad - Twin Dragonriders - The 2 Bell Gargoyles from DS1 but multiplied by 3 - Ruin Sentinels - Throne Watcher & Defender - Lud & Zallen - Elana…
This boss made me temporary quit the game. Not sure if I'm coming back. The bosses in the beginning were interesting and kept you hooked on purpose because the rest of the game is copy/paste and laziness.
Very true. High damaging, resistant to all status ailments, tanky, and highly mobile so u can't get hits in. And there's two of them. What were they thinking. They should be fearless stone constructs but half the time, im just chasing after them while they poke me with long range weapons
This is the 1st boss fight in the game that I felt zero satisfaction in completing 😅. Not because it becomes a gank fight when you get the 1st gargoyles health to 50%, but the fact that they puke poison clouds that drains your health very fast. The 2nd gargoyle uses a twinblade and does this ridiculous fast combo and he spams it a lot. There was a cheese strat that gets them to fall off the cliff in the back, but it was recently patched? (not sure lol)….Use blunt weapons, jump attacks with the jump talisman for stagger, and just stay aggressive. You go to a brand new part of the underground map and it sucks ass that this optional boss fight blocks it.
Yeah this boss sucks ass. Im using dual bleed scimitars and they do nothing. Three consecutive attacks do some damage but its very unsafe or they just jump backwards. They're supposed to be inorganic, fearless constructs but im the one always chasing them down. I had to just use the bloody blade ashes of war cuz nothing else was doing damage.
Got them today... and no, the fall cheese hasn't been patched out yet, at least not by doing it unintentionally. I was busy with the second gargoyle and out of the corner of my eye I saw the first falling very pitifully off the cliff
@@janelle9492 I was trying to get one of them to fall but it wouldn't work. I don't even consider it cheesing to make the gargoyles fall. Its just a long drawn out fight where u get one hit in every few seconds or else u get comboed by 2 gargoyles.
Not patched. Just beat them and the first gargoyle did the jumping backwards move and fell off the cliff. I didnt even know this was a possibility lmao. this moment alone made the fight great for me
That mimic tar seems like a good summon. He survived longer than any players that i summoned. Also looks like they are weak to electricity. (I guess its the same for all rock enemies) Guess i need to make a lighting weapon.
I remember walking into this boss room for the first time and seeing the gargoyle and I was like "oh, like Dark Souls 1. I sure hope a second one doesn't jump in". And then he did and the fights quality just went downhill.
This is one of those battle where they should let you use torrent, would have made this fight more manageable, the quality dipped in ED in certain spots.
What level were you guys when you fought this boss? I just beat it and am currently level 70. I had to use 20 runearcs in order to beat these bastards, definitely the hardest fight for me thus far. Duos are always tough and Elden Ring is full of them. Before this I had almost just as difficult as a time against Crucible Knight + Misbegotten Warrior.. and then there's also the Twin Pumpkin heads you fight in that tiny crypt, that was miserable as hell too. But shit, I'm loving the hell out of it still hahaha
Your comment reminded me Rune Arcs and Great Rune buffs exist lol. Was at it for roughly 11 attempts for this fight at level 82, saw this and activated Godrick's Great Soul with a Rune Arc, and then beat it in one go. It's almost as if having more health and dealing more damage makes the game easier, or something.
@@Mlow44 After the fight was over I decided to regain my runearcs by pvping in the area right before with the Crucible Knights. I'm such a sadistic bastard but that shit was fun as hell, definitely brought my spirits back from the torment the boss put me through lol.
I like how the match is with a good, maybe even professional, gamer and he almost died like 6 times using OP weapons, assistance and stunned them a handful of times. This boss was unnecessarily difficult to get through. I couldn't see the one poisoning me because the other was flying in from Deathland all axe happy. So happy I got through it 2 hours later lol
This is definitely a co-op fight, or you're using Mimic Tear; just about every other ashes summon drops stupid fast. It is annoying that there is such a meta with some of the challenges. Phase 2 is just lame when the one you start with suddenly starts bounding away and spamming poison to pretty much require that you have a very durable way of dealing with two sources of aggro.
How come every time they do a gargoyle fight there's always more than one? It's expected now, the magic's gone. They should do the opposite where the battle starts out with multiple gargoyles that are somewhat pushovers, but then when there's one left... BOOM! The actual boss crushes the final gargoyle and begins attacking you.
I need to spread the word of an accidental cheese I found! If you hang by the waterfall edge near the entrance one of the gargoyles might jump back and off the edge! Try that if you're not a mage cause I hope it can be replicated.
Godslayer Great sword does a ton of damage to these MFs and also to any type of enemy that wears strong armor like knights, especially Crucible knights get a lot of damage from that sword. This is something that I noticed and that I hope will work as a tip for someone that is struggling with the game, I know nobody asked but maybe you are here looking for a way to defeat this boss, also if you don't have enough faith for wielding the sword you can use a talisman.
Bro I just killed him today. Took me about 4 attempts. But I got his Black Halberd. Currently dual wielding it with the Golden Halberd. Doing crazy DMG at the moment.
My tips, or what i always did on my tries was to lure the first one close to the door, fight him and when he was a little above 50% i did the summons, then to get that last 50%(while the other bitch was walking all the way, that's why i tried to fight the 1 close to the door) i was more recless and spammed jump charge attack(i died a lot, but enventually got lucky), then for the second one i had like 7 jars left and 2 fp flasks so i spammed skills and sorcery(had moonveil), my summons die to poison, but there are runs that they used it less than usual.
exactly what i did, jesus, elden ring while is a good game, really similar to dark souls 3 and inherits all the strong parts of it but somehow it took the worst part of dark souls 2. They use numbers to fill the lack of boss's diversity. Gargoyle? Well, here 2 of them but with official hp bar so it counted as boss. Godskin, well, here another one at the bottom of the tower, and another one in the other room but fat, guess what now both of them in the same room. And you not gonna believe it, there is one more fat one ( at least so far in my playthrough) on the bridge. Really, i mean they re beatable but i found beating them isnt fun any more, more like a chore and mission cus i bought this game so i have to play it through. Boss design some good some really generic and lazy, like some boss i feel like they was supposed to be a regular enemy but they run out of idea so they make it bigger and tanker and put music in it.
Got it on my 5th try by using a rune arc + moon veil. Spammed skill on the first gargoyle before the second one came and got him low. I had one flask left and the second one had full hp. Adrenaline had me dodging shit like ultra instinct. Spamming my skill on the second one somehow allowed me to win the fight with like 5 hp left.
Pro tip: the gargoyle closest to you will always be the one to attack (sometimes their AI wigs out and they both attack at the same time) and the one furthest fill breathe out a cone of poison
@@bassembboustany Mimic Tear ash summon is opposite direction of the boss by the town with the dead giant on the chair. You should see a stone key gate when making your way through the area in a cathedral. You'll have to upgrade it first tho cuz it's not that strong without levels.
I finally beat this boss. I was using my blood loss katana to fight them which was the wrong approach. I saw somewhere on TH-cam that these bosses are stones, thus they don’t bleed. I had to change my weapon, upgrade my Marias Executioner’s Sword to +8 and I was able to beat them after 3 more attempts. I also used Lhutel the Headless Ashes summon to aid me.
You're supposed to summon D's brother for this fight, it makes it much more fair as you can effectively focus on one at a time, such is a consequence of not fully advancing and finishing questlines.
I need to get it through my head that Elden Ring has a shit ton of stat checks instead of skill checks. First tree sentinel, then Margit and now gargoyles…. I always seem to encounter them underprepared.
Not really tbh, as much as I wish that I was good, I know I'm not that great at this game (first souls game so makes some sense, don't think it matters much for me though, it's just copium). For me it's a good bit of stat checks lined with skill checks, but there are people beating Margit and shit with the wretch starter club and stuff, sub level 20 etc. I can't do it, but you can most certainly compensate for stats with skill.
I know what you mean, I've run into a lot of areas where the normal enemies are no trouble at all and then the boss absolutely annihilates me. I watch this video and this guy is doing twice the damage I am with my sword swings.
@@monkeydude952 Get good honestly. Pick a weapon and dump into it. Aggressive play is rewarded. I've beaten every boss without summons and little trouble. @@UrineDeity only bullshit thing is the poison hitbox, and in the future for speedruns the one you need to kill might run away which is kind of a coinflip.
Its dissapointing that even as much of a masterpiece that elden ring is, lazily put together bosses like this somehow still manage to get into the game. They've existed in the whole series, so its not a complaint exclusive to this game, but its to be expected that with how much more time and more budget they had, they could iron out encounters like these. One of these gargoyles was already a hassle enough to deal with, and now we get to deal with 2, along with poison attacks. What if they made one of the gargoyles ranged? like with a scepter? I think having two seperate weapons and styles would have made the boss far more barable, as you can at least make up a strategy.
This was the hardest boss in the game for me. Took two hours and about 20 attempts. I didn’t have the mimic tear but I was a decent level. I’d say about 90. Fuck this boss.
Nah, too much bullshit with this one. 50 hours in and I've hit my first roadblock. As if the fight wasn't unfair enough, they both have poison... Why they thought adding this boss to the game would be a good idea, I'll never know.

I tried the mimic but I feel like they nerfed it too much so I just used the two skeletons. Also used bloody slash and only bloody slash until I killed the 1st gargoyle where I safely poked it with a shield and single scimitar. Probably the shirtless boss I've ever faced.
Wouldnt be dark souls without gargoyle gank squads.
This boss fight is fucking miserable took me 2 and a half hours to down him. That poison attack from the twinblade gargoyle is ridiculous to deal with while the first one is still up.
yeah... honestly, elden ring has too many gank fights just for padding, it's so bad. At least the main/optional bosses are amazing though

I wish this game did difficulty in some way other than just putting two of the same enemy in the arena at once
this game have the same horrible difficult of ds2, a lot of enemies and with a lot of hp
that shit is awful. id prefer if they were just harder themselves and put them back to back
@@alvaromw3thebest that's the thing I hated the most about DS2 it's a cheap and lazy way of adding difficulty, putting bosses in tiny rooms or enemies on bridges/ledges is also annoying and cheap. I love this game but you can clearly see the quality drop on some enemies and areas.
It may be my least favorite Souls game but I’m not hating on it (just to clarify), but this kind of “difficulty” in ER reminds me a lot of DS2’s frustrating moments:
Tons of annoying or strong enemies in narrow spaces (especially in the DLC).
Either that or two/three bosses at once just to “increase” the difficulty:
- Gank Squad
- Twin Dragonriders
- The 2 Bell Gargoyles from DS1 but multiplied by 3
- Ruin Sentinels
- Throne Watcher & Defender
- Lud & Zallen
- Elana…
Bohooo
Being level 55 it took me 20+ times to kill Godslayer Apostle, 5 tries for general radahn, these bosses are harder than them all
This is without question the hardest version of the gargoyles.
I wouldn't say it's hard as a test of player skill. It's the artificial difficulty of a cheap, poorly tuned design.
“Ah shit, here we go again”
-everyone who’s played demons souls, dark souls 1, and/or dark souls 2”
And dark souls 3
And Bloodborne (Cainhurst).
as soon as it said '[anything here] gargoyle' I knew a second one was going to show up and kill me. it did.
You actually fight 6 of them in ds2
@@HunterBloodHunterBlood oh yeah I just remembered that horrible fight, well, it seems they made it worse now…
This what I call “artificial difficulty”
@@Watchful049 Yeah, I was probably underleveled at the time, I wouldn't have won if he didn't fall
Not patched. Just beat them and the first gargoyle did the jumping backwards move and fell off the cliff. I didnt even know this was a possibility lmao. this moment alone made the fight great for me
This reminds me of those stone gargoyles in ds3 with those torches
It’s the same Emmy just changed up a bit
I mean Elden ring has the same fucking crab from ds3 lol
Pleasure to kill my brother of metal
Kinda the same. But these gargoyles were ramp up by 100x
This fight would be a lot better if the first gargoyle stopped using the poison after the second one arrives so you can reliably defeat it in time
"Hey what if we gave this fairly difficult enemy a move that basically fucks over nearly any summon?"
That mimic tar seems like a good summon. He survived longer than any players that i summoned. Also looks like they are weak to electricity. (I guess its the same for all rock enemies)
Guess i need to make a lighting weapon.
It is. Does decent damage and ranks a lot of attacks
@@asta8153 I mean his damage depends on your damage
@@KingOfMalevolence I don't think so. I can deal 600 with the Bloodhound and he barely made it to 200
All hardened enemies are weak to lightening.
I love how they got around making the difficulty more nuanced by giving every major enemy a one hit kill attack, hence the poison cloud.
I'm such a sadistic bastard but that shit was fun as hell, definitely brought my spirits back from the torment the boss put me through lol.
i’m level 79 and beat it on my second try, just tried to focus the first one so i could get rid of it and wouldn’t have to fight both at the same time
level 60 and im getting fucked
@@gabagool20 what build are you using?
I like how the match is with a good, maybe even professional, gamer and he almost died like 6 times using OP weapons, assistance and stunned them a handful of times. This boss was unnecessarily difficult to get through. I couldn't see the one poisoning me because the other was flying in from Deathland all axe happy. So happy I got through it 2 hours later lol
The only weird thing is making the poison breath do damage that ramps the difficulty of this boss in a way that seems unintended
Not sure what made you think this guy is a pro. Played this fight very average.
I have no idea how it happened but one of the gargoyles jumped off the cliff chasing my mimic lol
Made things much easier
This is definitely a co-op fight, or you're using Mimic Tear; just about every other ashes summon drops stupid fast. It is annoying that there is such a meta with some of the challenges. Phase 2 is just lame when the one you start with suddenly starts bounding away and spamming poison to pretty much require that you have a very durable way of dealing with two sources of aggro.
You just couldn't help yourself could you From Software.
This is getting out of hand, now there are two of them.
Uchigatana with the blood slash art or war ability helped me shred these guys.
i been stuck on this boss for hours thank you so much for this tip easy kill XD
Dude, I love you. You've saved my bacon with that. It suddenly worked like a charm.
You are an absolute legend!
Uchis are op, they're on the magic level of cheese.
Try that if you're not a mage cause I hope it can be replicated.
pov your sending this to Ludwig rn because he’s taken 2 damn hours
Lol I’m here just so I can see the fight end
@@olstargamer3119 same....Lud is STILL fighting these biyatch twins at 3:10AM EST. Yup......QT is getting a cat.
You can hit head twice after stagger for extremely high damage and then riposte
Defeat them yesterday after 30 attempts, rest at coffin to new area, happy finally being better in this game, die 8th to the tree avatar 😢
I’m level 70 and feel like I do no damage to these guys
Which build my friend? I'm on lvl 70 with a pure strenght and a +15 greatsword and honestly I did good damage
Is fun how I defeated this boss in my second attempt, but I 've tried like 20 times to kill the black gargoyle in Caelid and nothing yet.
This should have just been the Twin Gargoyles with NO poison. the poison on top makes this WAY to over the top.
I happened to run into these two right after I re-specced into intelligence to play with some spells. It made the gargoyles so much easier.
Kinda hate how with some of elden rings bosses, they just slam two overpowered enemies in a single room
I think these optional gank bosses are made to make more use of the summon mechanic
The Mimic Tear summon helps out a lot, feels like it’s supposed to be used here
@@cheesecake0117 yeah the summon mechanic really is great

I finally beat this boss. I was using my blood loss katana to fight them which was the wrong approach. I saw somewhere on TH-cam that these bosses are stones, thus they don’t bleed. I had to change my weapon, upgrade my Marias Executioner’s Sword to +8 and I was able to beat them after 3 more attempts. I also used Lhutel the Headless Ashes summon to aid me.
not sure if you're overleveled or i was severly underleveled. but this amount of damage you deal to them is insane

Thank god, I beat them first try. I see a lot of comments complaining about the poison.

The moment I got the mimic summon the fight turned hilariously one sided. I (and my handy mimic) absolutely DESTROYED them. It wasnt even funny. The second guy didnt even make it down before the first guy died (half HP to zero in 2-3 seconds). They didn't even get the time to spew poison. The mimic got the KS though lol.
