I would NOT want to tell Chet/JDub: "We just cashed in our best future assets & shortened our timeline to acquire Lauri. We feel you're best suited to be our #4 option. We hope you're not angry that you'll no longer have plays designed for you & that this could hurt your future earnings potential".

That’s spot on. Presti knows better than to do that.

Using “massacre” in your Sudan quip was jarring considering the actual massacres happening and thousands displaced.

You guys know what the cost is to get Laurie , with the new rules you also know after hart we really shouldn’t go get Laurie . If we did we are losing really good players fast with the new salary rules.. every player and it takes multiple are the guys who got us to one in the west.

Saying Markkanen would be the fourth best player on the Thunder and would only be putting up 9 shots per game is quite a take.

It would be interesting to do a podcast talking about what is 20% of the cap in 2 years. Assuming that Shai, Dub and Chet (30,25,25) take 80%, how many players can you keep? Joe and Wiggs for 20 M are perfect to be your 7 and 8 player... but what about Lu or Caso? How much would it affect if Caruso took an 80x4 this summer?

I think denni advja would push us over the top while being able to maintain the team under the cba.

With the iHart & Caruso additions, we are already asking Dort, I.Joe, Wiggs & Cason to take a reduced role & knocking JWill/KWill out of the rotation.(NTM Dieng, DJ & Ajay). If we gave Avijda 25min/game that means another guy gets knocked out of the rotation & the other 3 get their minutes reduced further. That would probably end all the good vibes around the team, put us over the salary cap apron & could quite possibly lead to more trade demands.(ie:Josh Giddey). Plus Avijda is from another culture & wouldn't vibe w/ JDub, JWill, Chet, Wiggs & Zay. Would you really want to create all that chaos just to add a nice role player?

Nah, he would just take minutes from Cason, Joe, Wiggins.

I don't understand why Andrew thinks because Presti says something that it's true. Aren't we just a few weeks removed from Sam heralding Giddey as a key part of the future? One week later he's gone. Last off season Sam made it seem like Dort wouldn't be extended. Shortly thereafter Dort received an extension. I don't think we trade for Lauri but not becuase sam's public comments say otherwise.

Lauri would have helped them reach the finals last year. He's exactly what this team, who struggled against Dallas' defense, needs.

Getting Lauri(after acquiring Hartenstein & Caruso) would mean we have 4 guys playing between 32-40min/game. Caruso, Dort & IHart playing 20-30min/game. That means Cason, I Joe, Wiggs are traded are out of the rotation. Plus JWill, Kenny, Dieng, D.Jones & Ajay are DNPs most nights(if not traded). To make the money & Utahs demand for one young core player work, we would have to trade Kenny, Cason & Wiggs/I.Joe OR trade Dort & Cason. Maybe including both I.Joe & Wiggs w/ the Draft picks is enough. Utah doesn't want Dort back so if you use Dort for his contract, they'll still want Cason. Draft picks aren't enough. I do think Lauri is the perfect player to add if you're goal is to Win 70 games & be clear cut Western Conf Favorites for next 2yrs. But there would be major ripple effects from such a move.
