To summarize: Strong leather cleaner - For leather older than 3 years old or heavily soiled leather Mild leather cleaner - For leather newer than 3 years old or recently cleaned leather Leather protector - Conditioner Leather shield - UV protector Step 1 - Apply leather cleaner to brush and clean one section at a time not pressing down on the brush Step 2 - Wipe up with microfiber towel Step 3 - Apply leather protector using towel Step 4 - Wait 48 hours to apply leather shield with sponge. Wipe down with wet side and then level it out with dry side *If you don’t have time to wait, use leather shield first and dry with heat gun/hair dryer and then apply protector
Aside from the wash and chat/rants, these are my favorite type of videos you put out for us Matt. Being able to get the information and watch the procedures right from the source is invaluable, thank you.
That steering wheel looked brand new after he finished cleaning it. I'm definitely going to have to try out their products on the Oyster coloured leather in my 1 Series. It's definitely in need of a clean.

I think a simple go pro overhead where the sunroof is would have made Bryce's job a lot easier, or Matt needs to get a tripod that allows for a top down view.

I’ll certainly be trying this in my cars. I have to say I’m a bit surprised that Matt didnt remove the seats for a more complete, all-around cleaning... plus its a-lot easier to maneuver
Just in time, I've recently been thinking that my 991 seats and interior should get a good cleaning and protection applied. Looking forward to see an interior cleaning/protection kit in the OG store. Also surprised to see so much crap on the steering wheel in a car with only 15K miles. Cleaned up good though!
Quick tip: If you can't find your color match go to Home Depot or Lowes and get a bunch of paint color card samples and find your exact match(es) and send them the card. I've done that a few times with another company and it worked out great although I'm not sure their products are as good as ColourLock's ;-)
Like you brought up, my interior was coated with Gyeon leather shield 3 years go. Given it says it last a year, and has not been reapplied would you say I’m fine to proceed with applying this as normal, or like you did if it’s not removed fully should I not be using colourlock leather shield?
I didn’t find the product going a long way. I burned through a small tube in one interior cleaning. Maybe I used too much but the foam seems to dry and evaporate of the brush quickly.
I also find, if as you clean, the leather will be sticky until it is fully clean because the oils get sticky when wet. When it's truly clean its not sticky after you wipe off the cleaner. Never tried the tape test. Good to know.

Matt, at 38:00 you mentioned how to maintain the interior. What did you end up deciding on? Because with leather shield they say you should apply between 3-12 months (on their website), but if I want to just maintain the interior every month what should I do? Since in this video they say to reapply shield every time you clean the interior. That seems like too frequent of use.
@@ObsessedGarage they indicated even their mild cleaner would remove the shield product…. I assume a car pro inside would do the same. Diluting would be the way to go?

The dipstick really stretched the heck out of your seat. Surprised you didn't punch him in the face. Sorry met many many many leather experts and not one of them found the need to stretch leather like that, ever.

I wouldn't say it looks factory new, but it's much better.
I used Colourlock Leather Shield on my new black leather seats. Do you have to buff off the excess after it is applied?
Yes, you do want to level it and wipe of excess gently.

Depending on how dirty the brush is, I rinse it with clear water, in the video I did not do that.
