@@roughhouserosie I downloaded it right after commenting and I'm listening to it now. I really dig it. I'm stringing up my Goodtime Artisan with nylon strings and a Joel Hooks bridge. I'm trying to get that SS Stewart sound...without tracking down an SS Stewart.
@@roughhouserosie So far, I'm liking the sound...of course I'm tuning it back up every five minutes. Listen for it soon on my 2024 Ignoramus Challenge! :) Take care!
Love your videos. Good to hear that your voice is getting a bit more mic volume in this video. In some of the other videos I think your voice volume is too low compared to your banjo. Would love a re-recording of some of those videos. Anyway, I think you have a good energy.
Thanks! Same mic but I have a new one coming in this week. I'm working on an album right now and most of the tunes are ones I've posted on here rerecorded.
It depends on the person, it wasn't too hard for me but I played guitar since I was a kid, but I've heard it's difficult for others. Either way ain't worth it if it's too easy so go for it haha
First time I heard this song it was Karen Dalton...Keep these old songs alive...Slainte from Ireland.
Im from talley's crossing NC. My granddaddy played banjo and I begged him to teach me. He said "I ain't cursin' you with this boy."
Powerful and beautiful playing!! Great drive. What a strange old song that somehow feels so current!
Thanks, very much appreciate that coming from you! It's an interesting tune for sure
Another great performance
I love the rhythm, the way it almost spirals and coils up just to release perfectly. it’s kind of entrancing
Your sly smile is bewitching. For someone who plays with little affectation, its especially sweet when some little gleam escapes.
Incredible, from the first ramble of the banjo I was hooked!
Wonderful playing!
Thanks!
I've heard many versions of this but yours is by far the best ❤
Tidy!
There's a great cadence to that song. I also love the name of the record, Courting and Complaint!
Thanks! If you haven't listened you should, I think you'd really enjoy it. Peggy Seeger seems to be super overlooked compared to her brother

I have one of those too, I switched it out for another but they give a really nice sound

I love this tune! Makes my day to hear you play it
Makes my day that you dig it!
Nice yodelling, Rosie. Also 2 in one month, Calm down. Haha.
Haha not sure this quite counts as yodeling but almost. And I didn't realize it's only been 2 weeks, January is going by slow
@@roughhouserosie Close enough for me. January and February is slow due to cold and snow. Don't get trapped and things'll fly by.
The Karen Dalton version is the one that made me love her. She was a contemporary of Dylan and Fred Neil.
I found her version while researching this song a while back, generally a bigger fan of the older stuff but her version of this was great.
@@roughhouserosie I get it. It's sort of like myself preferring Ian Matthew's version of 'Seven Bridges Road' over the Steve Young version.
So good 🔥 🔥
Thank you!
@@roughhouserosie np, I love your channel! I love that you sing all these tunes too. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the support!!

Wel done. 👍
Thank you. Happy New Year.
Happy new year!
How difficult is it to learn banjo? I’ve been considering it for awhile now
It depends on the person, it wasn't too hard for me but I played guitar since I was a kid, but I've heard it's difficult for others. Either way ain't worth it if it's too easy so go for it haha
What tuning are you using ? It seems pretty low, but I can't figure it out
I'm in double C
What tuning do you have it in?
Love your look, looks like your voice should be a lot higher, nasally even.
I didn't know Brie Larson knew how to play banjo.
Sounds really western.
This song has Scottish origins but I suppose my penchant for old western tunes has seeped in lol
