Update: the police form is no longer required, you don't have to bring a pen. Also Barid Bank, the post office bank, doesn't have a withdrawal feel, so use their ATM's when possible. Also, please don't give money to 'homeless people', most of them are professinal beggars and are not homeless at all, you're only encouraging the behaviour and we Moroccans are stuck with it after you leave. And yes, avoid airport taxis at all costs, but for regular taxis, you don't have to negotiate the price, just make sure they have the meter on and have your gps open on your phone to make sure they're not doing loops, especially in Marrakech, most taxi drivers there do this kind of shit.
I hear you, but when it's young children on the streets while others are at school, or working the streets at midnight, even the locals give. The GPS tip is great - taxi drivers pull that scam everywhere I go, even in Canada. Definitely will give Barid Bank a try next time!
Hey I’m going to agadir in February. Where would I be able to get a cheap taxi, as all airport taxi expensive . How much would they charge?. And would there be a currency exchange at agadir airport. Also how much is WiFi ?
Excellent tips! My wife and I travel a lot, but we don't do VLOG's so it's refreshing to hear somebody impart some obvious and also some not so well known travel tips and advice. Well done!!
0:25 I’m so glad I was reminded of this. I’ve taken so many trips and keep forgetting to bring a damn pen for the customs forms. Massive pain in the ass trying to find one. I just put one in my bag. Thank you.
Nov. 6, 2023 update from what I experienced, (just want to help fellow travelers with updated info). Just left the Marrakesh airport and am in the city now. The SIM card stalls, (now outside of the Marrakesh airport luggage scan area), seem to have formed a cartel. They all offer only 20GB for 30 days, for 20 euro now, across the board, (I asked INWI and Orange, and they both only offer this one option!) No receipt was given when I asked. As it turns out, the hostel I’m staying in actually sells SIM cards for only a few euros and is tailored to my needs, i.e. 4 days vs. 30 days. So, don’t buy it at the airport. The problem is that when I was there, the Airport Wi-Fi was conveniently “not working,” which means, I had to buy a SIM card from these vendors. It’s funny how that works out.
The ATM charge in Morocco to withdraw your money is an absolute scam. Furthermore many of them have a small withdrawal limit meaning you cannot draw out all your money in one go. For this reason I would consider finding a reliable money exchange - where you will probably end up paying less overall.
Hi I am planning to visit Morocco in Dec 23 for 21 Days. Route is going to be Marakesh, Ouz, Marzouga, Fes, Tangier and Casa. You mentioned mix experience on Car Hire. Any tips please?
If you have a worldwide plan, you should still look into how they would charge you, i.e. is it per day or per GB? They usually are more expensive than buying a local sim card. But if you don't mind the extra charge, prefer to avoid the hassle of swapping SIM cards, then stick with your carrier's worldwide plan. Also, some carriers or phones won't take another SIM cards.
The taxi as usual is a rip off, should be 50 dirhams, yet will extort 150 to 200 , better to walk out of the airport and catch a local taxi passing by, in marrakesh

I heard this too. That is a rip off, I pay much less in my own 'expensive' country for sims and data.
@@donniet685 Honestly, the government should step in and deal with this cartel, unless they are also on the profit-sharing side.
This is great info, thanks. i will be visiting in December
Great time to go!
Thanks for the tips. I'm leaving for Marrakech tomorrow (19 May 2024). I'll come back here to share my experience.
How was it? I'm going today 😅

I heard that the Al-Bidan ATMs in the airport do not charge. I'll find out the fact when I get to Morocco in September this year. (2024)

Does the bus service use contactless payment?
what kind of map should I use while in Morocco?
Did they check if u have bookings with a hotel for the whole trip or just for a night, do they verify it
If you have a worldwide plan from the US, what would be the benefit of a SIM card in Marrakech??

Hi.. Where we can get sim card still in airport area?
Is there a reliable company to pre-book a taxi from Marrakesh airport to agadir ?
I paid 200 dirham to get to my hotel ,

I heard there is an official way to pay inside the airport now to try and minimise the scams.
You paid 10 eur for 5 gb😂
That is crazy
