It was me who commented last vid ✋🏾. It seems like it was well received so I have more.
    Quick history lesson
Hip hop evolved out of Caribbean sound systems culture that was happening in immigrant communities in New York in the late 70s early 80s. In sound system culture you had an MC who would “toast” - say words rhythmically over the songs the DJ played to get a crowd response. When the crowd responded well to track the song was played a second time ( called a repeat or reload).
Hip hop kept the toasting and changed the beats evolving into early rap music in New York.
London also had heavy Caribbean immigrant communities who also brought sound systems culture over in the 70s and 80s except that turned into lovers rock, jungle, garage and finally grime due to other musical influences (the UK loves electronic music)
We kept the DJ, the MC, the crowd work and the reloads. Grime is Hip hop’s distant cousin three times removed.
When MCs would toast back in the day didn’t have “bars” like in Hip hop but had rhyme schemes and flows. Hip hop created the modern day “bar” with schemes or a setup and a punch. Old school MCs took more to similes and metaphors which is why you get simple bars like “high like the sky” an easy rhyme with a simple simile.
As Grime is still closer to the OG MCs you are allowed to not punch Hip hop style if you have clarity, cadence, flows and are in pocket because again it about the crowd.
As Hip hop grew, jungle, garage and grime MCs began implementing the other kind of bars (traditional rap bars) because grime MCs also listened to Hip hop. Which is how you get some artists who can bar to a Hip hop standard and still do grime.
In short Hip hop has a grading scale that’s completely separate to Grime. There are a wider variety of things you can do in grime than in Hip hop which is why you get a Scorcher and a D Double E and both are highly rated.
Everyone who loves Grime also likes Rap or at least understands the way Rap bars work. When Americans first hear grime the hear “rapping” and assume it should be graded the same way as Rap. In this reaction when Scorcher is flowing both of y’all have your heads bobbing damn near in sync - that’s what grime is supposed to do. Grime is designed to create a vibe

Oh and a wheel up is the same as a reload AKA wheel, circle, pull up, rewind etc. it’s named after the motion of rewinding a vinyl.

The whole “vibe” aspect of it and the gimmicks kind of come from dancehall music and Jamaican culture, which was an important part of grime’s foundation. That’s also where the reloads come from and the clashes (kind of like rap battles but not necessarily lyrical, sometimes you can just win off getting everyone turnt). All of this comes from outside of the realm of rap music so I understand why it’s alien to you

Grime sounds sooooo much better live compared to on record purely because the energy is what makes the genre exciting not necessarily bars. So I completely understand everything that you man are saying.
I think someone explained it last vid but grime just comes from a completely different genre of music compared to regular hip hop. It comes from like garage music and electronic dance which is like rave music and a very UK thing.

Scorcher was part of a group called The Movement. He’s got beef with them now and there’s a couple shots in here at those dudes, mainly Wretch.
But that group is a bag of OGs like Skepta, Jme, Wiley, Ghetts, Wretch32. They kept grime interesting for a while, and that group should tell you enough about Scorcher’s rap ability.
Very talented dude tho, he acts and stuff now, was in Top Boy and a few other films. V good actor

He doesn't have beef with movement, he only has beef with wretch. Scorcher has even confirmed he's got no issues with Ghetts or rest of movement just not working with them anymore.
Skepta, jme and wiley were never in the movement they are part of BBK, who were beefing the movement back in the day.
Movement was Ghetts, Scorcher, Mercston, Wretch 32 and Devlin

You’re coming at grime from a hip hop viewpoint and while grime is a subgenre of it I guess, it’s way more influenced by garage and dancehall which is why you don’t like or understand a lot of aspects of it like the gimmicks, wheel up bars etc.. but understand grime MC’s are some of the most stylistically diverse and talented in the world, they can adapt to any style beat or BPM on the spot, they honed their craft live on pirate radio stations which were super competitive environments and so many MC’s who originated in grime have gone on to have success in other genres

    th-cam.com/video/BZ7WyR6ccQA/w-d-xo.html
Also grime is an underground genre fusing jungle, bashment garage and hip hop. The aim is to spit so hard merging a clean flow and a beat to get the DJ to pull the record back (reload the track).
Grime you listen to the person and not the beat. There's many radio sets of grime MCs who are all in 1 room in a studio and they each take turns to rap on multiple beats.
This is another Kenny Allstar he did recently with the top people from the previous seasons of UK TV show Rap Game Uk - th-cam.com/video/CDiu-nx9PZU/w-d-xo.html
Some of the younger uk rap fans don't like Grime because they grew up on Drill which is a completely different Genre. Same as myself who's 27 and grew up on grime , i cant stand drill because the quality of rappers are trash but its the beat that's making it.
Grime is like a sweet science 12 round boxing match , Drill is like 1 round KO UFC fight.
You'd defo like people with bars:

Whoever suggested Grime Scene Saviours to you is a fool. That track is more about the one line flows the MCs are known for that get the reload, it's definitely for the grime fans 😅
The more lyrical stuff came a bit later, but there's still syncopation and beats that prob sound like pots and pans to you. And surprise, yes there are UK ppl that don't like grime and don't understand grime. Just like in any genre.
