My 1st comment to you guys. I’m in the UK🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧 I watch your reviews just to see what I’m going to see once the movie gets here to the UK. Keep up the great work & reviews ❤️
This movie is my most anticipated of the year. I would skip every single remaining release on the 2024 schedule to see this one. I know it comes out next week but I'm THAT excited for it!
The shot where Dennis Quaid walks onto the screen for the first time will forever live rent free inside my head 😂😂😂 One of the craziest movies I’ve ever seen.
I’m so fascinated by this film. It’s good to see Demi Moore doing more films., Ive always thought she was a great actress that never really got material that lived up to her talent back in her 90s heyday.
I just got out of a preview screening in Australia and... wow! If David Cronenberg directed 'Barbie', you'd get 'The Substance'. I loved the bloodiness of 'Immaculate' but Coralie Fargeat has gone all out (and then some!). I think we'll need a live stream spoiler chat to process this one!
It was so good!!! It felt like a roller coaster. And i liked the subtle real life horror like about women not loving their bodies, that mirror scene i had to close my eyes at certain points. it was brutal
I watched it yesterday the ending was hard to digest never seen anything like that ever in a movie they went above and beyond on that ending scene jesus i still can't get over my head what i just witnessed i would give this movie a solid 8.5/10
Very much looking forward to this, I LOVED Revenge and this again sounds very much like something I would like a lot. Looking forward to the full review!
I live right across the street from Edwards 26 in Long Beach, so thanks for the heads up (it has another Early Access screening coming up next week). I recently got an email for a free showing at the American Cinematheque this Friday, but it sold out in less than 20 minutes after the email was sent, so I just missed out on that one. Can't wait to catch this- great to hear Demi is terrific in it!
I can’t wait to see this, problem is so does my mom. I always take her to the movies once or twice a month. She loves Demi Moore, and said she wanted to see this, but it sounds a biiiit too much for her to handle considering I know her taste, and she’ll certainly spend half the film looking away 😆 👀.
@@tlovehater I don’t know if you’ve ever watched the show Desus & Mero (RIP the show), but Desus once took his mom to The Handmaiden not knowing what it was. Imagine that awkwardness 😬 😂.
@classicthought266 I convinced her The Thicket would be a better option since she likes westerns and it looks good. No way was I taking her to The Substance, had to find another option haha.
Already bought my ticket for Thursday night. So excited! Ha! My Old Ass and The Substance double feature. I'm coming around to Qualley. Body parts and fluids and squish? Bring. It.
I love this movie 💯💯💯💯 IT WAS VERY GRUMESOME BUT PROPHECY THE GOVERNMENT IS TRYING TO REVEAL SOMETHING GMO FOODS AND MUCH MORE 💯💯💯 it goes to show you self-esteem is everything Elizabeth sparkle looks fine we are all going to get older embrace it 💯💯💯💯
I haven’t seen the film yet, but calling it a “camp classic” makes it sound like some so-bad-it’s-good “Showgirls”-esque nonsense. This has had nothing but glowing reviews and even won a prize at Cannes.
How can a sex-ploitaion film effectively do battle with…sex-ploitation? How can actresses who radically conform to beauty standards (via plastic surgery) be integral exemplars for young women? Why would any integral actress participate in, and promote, a sex-ploitation/Roman Colloseum flick? Will this movie stop women of all ages, from the natural desire, of wanting to appear beautiful in public? Will a sexy girl running around in her underwear make viewers think differently about sexual assault?
@BreakfastAllDay Yeah! You're one of few reviewers I've checked out tonight after watching it a few hours ago! Honestly, I didn't notice the lenghtyness of it after you mentioned it lol and that speaks volume of the movie! Intense, disturbing, and a lot of psychology when you think about it!
@@laronchapman2313 It's not about working. It's a terrible film. The fact that it became popular in certain circles merely demonstrates what kind of audience we have at film festivals nowadays. Unfortunately, the festival give in to those people and don't screen arthouse films anymore.

Thanks so much Simon, glad you're here!

I’m with you 💯 %
Saw it last night - AMAZING. Craziest body horror movie since The Fly. Get ready…
the joy on your face!!! that’s the reaction good film should create.

So disturbing!
Such a crazy film!
Him eating shrimp was 🤮
I am so absolutely pumped to see this movie. I have a ticket for an early screening next week, but I want to see it sooner!
Thanks, Christy! I'm excited for this one, and your excitement just made me even more so!
Awesome, let us know what you think!

She’s a great actress for sure

Really looking forward to this!
I loved Coralie Faraget first film and this looks fantastic. I’m seeing next Friday first thing after work!
Amazing! I already want to see it again!

We're getting it a little early, a week from today. Excited for it!
Look forward to hearing your thoughts!

Most outrageous finale to a movie I've ever seen
This is my most anticipated movie!

This was just a press screening they set up for a few of us. But yes, do check it out!
Definitely gonna check it out.
Maybe my favorite film of the year so far. So happy that you loved. Can't wait to see what Coralie Fargeat does next.
I love Demi Moore and I'm so excited to hear that her latest film is so good.
Thanks! I'm looking forward to seeing it!
Loved it!!!!!
"Very squishy"---Christy Lemire
Very excited for this
SO EXCITED
Thank you for the reaction. You just inspired me to watch this movie!
Nice! Very excited for this!
Did you see Fargeat's first film Revenge? Found that one a lot of fun
Yes, we reviewed it on What the Flick, we liked it too.
Very hyped for this one. Glad to get some good notices from you!
But when are we getting the REBEL RIDGE review lol?!
Sounds like a much watch!
Great reaction bro
👍🏻🐸🦠 really want to see this ! ! ! 😁🔮
I'm ready for the Demi-God 2nd act.
Haha this is definitely not a movie I'd take my mom to see, it seems kind of Cronenbergian, but if your mom can handle the horror do take her lol.
@@tlovehater I don’t know if you’ve ever watched the show Desus & Mero (RIP the show), but Desus once took his mom to The Handmaiden not knowing what it was. Imagine that awkwardness 😬 😂.

I just got out of seeing this film, and i really really liked it, not all of it, i would say i loved 3/4s of it but cant wait to hear your review
Coming later today! And we'll definitely have to do a separate spoiler talk.
2 hours and 20 minutes got me a lil nervous, but you drew me back in with squishy.
Ha, the sound design definitely grabs you.
That's the Edwards in Long Beach!
It sure is! A rare place for a press screening. SO many fountains.
Already bought my ticket for Thursday night. So excited!

Ha, have fun!
My favorite Demi Moore movie is Charlie's Angels so I can't wait to see her in such a different role.
Dune 2 is still my movie of the year. Let's see how good this is!
any review of rebel ridge on netflix? or speak no evil?
Speak No Evil coming Friday..
@@BreakfastAllDay rebel ridge? heard it's good
The trailer reminds me of Antidote: Immortality Comes with Pain and The Reanimator 👻
Seeing it next weekend.
It’s weird to see Dennis Quaid go from one of the worst movies of the year to one of the best of the year.
SEEING AT TIFF.
Omg I’m so excited to watch this. “Destined to be a queer camp classic” is the best kind of endorsement.

Looks like the Long Beach Edwards Theater.
Indeed! An unusual place for a press screening.
I am interested in the discourse. Apparently at Cannes women hated it but men loved it.
So I guess Christy is saying it's a substantive movie?
I haven’t seen the film yet, but calling it a “camp classic” makes it sound like some so-bad-it’s-good “Showgirls”-esque nonsense. This has had nothing but glowing reviews and even won a prize at Cannes.
Oh it's not nonsense.
@@BreakfastAllDay are you saying that “The Substance” isn’t nonsense or that “Showgirls” isn’t nonsense. I hope it’s the former and not the latter 😂
@@b.badger_1991 Both!
You are wrong MississippiQueen😢 have you actually seen it yet?
Wait what does queer camp classic mean
Sounds like “squishy”, “body parts”, and … hahaha…. Guess the movie…

I see Margaret Qualley; I know I'm in a fucked up good time†!
†Except for Drive-Away Dolls. That film is *dull*.

The Substance is awful, and the director made a really bad impression at the Cannes press conference.
I loved it and so did the 8 people I know who attended the Cannes screening. Sad to hear it didn’t work for you.
