      There are certainly a lot of weird and wonderful things when it comes to reproductive organs.
      And also several horrifying things, like that one species of bug or something that literally stab their parts into a female's abdomen, rather than use the already existing hole.

    The biggest win here is the knowledge that _Hotwheels_ is a recognized genus. Not species, genus. That means that we could hypothetically see more species of _Hotwheels_ spiders than just _H. sisyphus._

      "You wanna see my hotwheels collection?" I ask, reaching to open the door to my room in which thousands of spiders are kept. My date tries to run, but it's too late. His human physique could never hope to outrun the skittering mass advancing upon him. He is engulfed by spiders and consumed in mere moments. Only his nerdy glasses remain. I have already stolen his wallet.
      The Hotwheels Spiders have been fed. I live another day completely of pests, but at what cost?

      It's going right there with crossdressing cuttlefish, egg-bearing organ displacement in kiwis, hyena pseudopeni, giraffe fights, the dolphin LSD house study conducted with a grant from the US government that ended after it was found out that they were jacking dolphins off, trans lions, sea otters doing unspeakable atrocities to dead infant seals, the censored report on the sexual proclivities of the Adélie penguin, barbed cat penises, alpha wolves not being a thing, how terrifying hippos are, infanticidal cannibalism to provoke estrus in dolphins and chimpanzees, penguin kidnapping, orcas intentionally beaching themselves to hunt and working with whalers to find sperm whales, canine-human co-evolution, hominid expansion to the new grassland biome during the Myocene epoch, and crows in Japan reading road crossing signals.

    The concept of a species of spider locked in an evolutionary battle over the bodily autonomy of the female is incredibly raw in the current sociopolitical climate

    • @user-wb8iu1hl6i
      @user-wb8iu1hl6i หลายเดือนก่อน

      All life is warfare, even between the same species. Males and females are not complementary, they are adversarial. It’s an unfortunate quirk of evolution that the gametes you need to reproduce are trapped in the other sex’s body.
