I was just in Addis last week, great trip and the airport is growing continuously with more and more routes added connecting ADD with the wider world. ADD is now the real hub in Africa. It was my 2nd time to Ethiopia, love the people and the food. Great climate in ADD as well, due to the elevation, not too hot and not too cold.

What about landing
Whenever I see Ethiopian cockpit videos, the more am glad that I have ample choice for alternative air carriers. This particular video is excruciating to watch, it's like trying to learn Mathematics in Chinese in a French speaking society...

Bole international airport in Addis is a high altitude airport making take-off to take long due to low air pressure.(air pressure decreases as you rise in altitude)planes perform better at high air pressure.

How does the flag carrier for one of the poorest countries in the world, afford one of the newest, most expensive planes in the world?
Why does it matter, if anything you should be happy for them. Ethiopian Airlines, after all is a Star Alliance member, and needs to maintain their high standards.
@@hamzashakir I'm simply asking how they can afford to buy it when the country is known for having famine and drought. Each plane costs $317m each. Something's not right there.
@@cun7us I see, and my apologies as that is a valid question. My biggest guess, is that they have big government grants, to achieve this. Probably the gov't cares more about tourism than for the general well fare of Ethiopia is my guess.
@@hamzashakir I think you're possibly right. Maybe Star Alliance have given them a deal in which the airline is able to pay back costs of the plane over a long period. Who knows. Don't get me wrong, it's good to see a third world country develop and it's airline flourishing, but at the same time with the amount of famine and poverty, it does make me suspicious on where their money's being spent.
