I tried it. It drew a huge amount of current & generated very little heat. I then returned the piece of s___. BTW, I now use a Totmox heater that actually works, given about a 15 minute warmup.
You don't need to bother pulling a fuse or installing a switch to turn off that little red LED. A typical LED of that size only draws about 0.02 amps of current, or 1/4 watt of power, which your battery won't even notice. By comparison, a traditional incandescent dome light draws at least 40 times the current (0.80 amps, or 10 watts) of that little LED. When the heater is running, though, it draws a whopping 25.0 amps (300 watts), hence the need for a direct connection to the battery and the recommended in-line 30 amp fuse. Was the smell you noticed coming from the heater or from the wiring???
Thank you I will look into it. As far as the smell that was coming straight from the heater itself. The entire thing is made of plastic so it's kind of a design flaw
Did I miss where you installed the inline 30 amp fuse that the manufacturer required??? I purchased one ( heater)earlier today, I have yet to install it. Also instead of taking the fuses out every time, I’m going to splice the wires and add a quick disconnect. Thanks for the video.
Also why does that damn red light stay on?i have it wired to an auxillary fuse box, i removed the fuse at the fusebox and the heater red light is STILL ON ?
i put an inline switch on mine, it's in my van still taking up space because i don't really know what to do with it, let me tell you this pos is ABSOLUTELY USELESS , you could make more heat by blowing past a candle, and it's not even cheap £70 in the uk, looks the part but cheap rubbish
I have 2 of these in my van.. it will work good at or above 40°F.. In about 40 min it will increase temps by up to 30°.. in a decently insulated van Combined they use less than 500w of 12v power... I use them because it's more affordable for me to regenerate 12v power through solar ..
I used one of those on a semi at the permian basin during the winter 🔥🔥🔥 .
The fuse is not a problem just add a switch.

Mine didn't come with 1 so I just took the fuse out
how do you string the wire from the battery to the compartment?
I just hooked it straight to the battery

I'm just going to guess it's because of how cheap this thing is made
Used clips on your battery save your battery!🎉🎉🎉
