iRacing crash highlights #86: Indycars at Indianapolis Special

This week we feature the Indycars with their fresh new damage model at their spiritual home, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. I really think this is the best demonstration of how superior the new damage model is to the old, the crash look so realistic.

I'm really impressed with the new damage model - not only does it look way better than cars flying and bouncing everywhere it really makes predicting a line to avoid so much better

I'm disappointed with the new physics. Going into this vid I was expecting plenty of crazy Driven-tier crashes with cars flying and bouncing everywhere, but I guess that was thrown out in the name of realism.

They should try to obtain any of older Formula 1 season's licence. It would be something like Geoff Crammond's GP series.

Thanks! That would be awesome, but sadly I think the licensing would be too difficult. I enjoyed the Grand Prix games, played a lot of grand prix 3 and grand prix 4 back in the day.

Sadly you need $1000 -$2000 computers for these and to really have any Chance you need to be on a t1 or e1 connection. Which isn’t likely to most of us.

Now with crashes like that the driver might have been killed. Does iracing adjust or have that feature?? It would be interesting if they did and you could have the driver Die. Restarting your iracing career from rookie up. Real life crashes take some lives. Or get injured and can’t race a week or more.

Indy Oval fixed has become straight cancer due to New damage model though...
even higher splits get people that run out of skill.

Hopefully that will only be a small blip and it will go back to normal. Surely Indy usually brings out a few people that don't have much oval experience.
