Never made butter but have taken heavy cream and shaken it up to top desert for the grandkids - they were amazed. I will make some butter now! I laughed out loud watching this because every time you mentioned "butter" your face lit up and you smiled. Thanks for sharing!

I just found your channel and I love it. I love seeing your kids! I'm a Grandma now. I've been watching your cheesemaking videos. My electric butter churn broke down and I randomly tossed the cream in my bosch and.....Loved it! Mine was a bit cooler I guess since I just dumped the bowl into a wire colander and ran cold water over the teeny bits of butter until it ran clear, then I started the kneading then salt in another bowl that is easier to work in. I put some saran wrap in my 1 cup measure, spoon the butter into it to form it, then flash freeze that. It's handy for baking! Thanks for the tip about wet wood not having the butter stick to. I didn't know that...Love that wood spatula, it's so pretty!

Love this video! Duh I didn’t realize that wet wooden utensils don’t stick and to knead the butter on the wooden cutting board YAY. I always make a mess. Just made butter this morning 😂. I use food processor. Bought wooden butter paddles but didn’t know how to use em well. I look forward to trying it your way😉

When washing out the buttermilk, I use my hands. It’s a lot quicker. :-)

You mentioned making butter even using store bought cream. I don't have access to fresh cows milk so I would love tips on how to make it using store bought ingredients. What exactly would you need?

    • @DryHollowHomestead

Just heavy whipping cream 😊 i would let it set on the counter for about 30 minutes before adding it to your mixer to help it turn to butter quickly. Everything else is the same

@Dry Hollow Homestead thank you for the tips! I am very excited to give this a try! Can you bake with this butter? The end product with the deep dark yellow looks like the European butter I use when making croissants. Do you think I could use it to make croissants?

@@Carlybme75 absolutely 💯 ❤ use it for anything you would store bought. I have a goal of learning sourdough croissants this year but haven't attempted it yet.

@Dry Hollow Homestead oh WOW!!! I have never even thought of combining sourdough & croissants. My mind might literally blow as croissants & a super sour, chewy sourdough boule are my 2 faves. I don't know if I could handle the combo of both! 🤣🤣 I would LOVE to see you tackle that!

I have made butter in the past and it’s turned out great, but lately when I put it in my blender or mixer it just makes whipped butter instead of hard butter. What am I doing wrong? I’m making it with my fresh cream.

I haven't had mine do this but I have heard of it happening to others but only in certain months where they are not feeding as much grain. Wish I could be of more help.

if you let it sit out at room temperature, assuming it is raw milk, and let it 'clabber' , it will separate much better. I harvest my cream from my kefir batches that have been at 72f for up to 48 hours and store it in the fridge. Takes me a week or two and I have enough to make a batch. This is now a cultured cream which separates into butter perfectly every time. Even just setting it out for 4 hours before you make butter will help ensure it will separate right.
