Can you believe a RV park was around the corner, TY Jesus!
Praise God you are safe, no one was harmed. your rig didn’t catch fire and there was no accidents . Blessings on Blessings 🙏🏾🫶🏽
Being an x-fire fighter that's one of the first things I look for is a fire extinguisher. By the time you went in the RV looked for a squeeze bottle and a jug of water that tire could have been entirely engulfed in flames and your RV could of went up in flames also. The second you noticed smoke Shante should of been on the phone with 911, while you were grabbing the fire extinguisher. Every second counts in that type of situation.
T U J🙏
It is ALWAYS GOOD, to ALWAYS look out your mirror to check what ever and when ever you are towing anything. I guess it helps to make sure nothing's burning, nothing has fell off no doors have flown open no windows have flown open no pieces are falling off and flying out on the highway. It is always good to drive and watch what's around and behind you. Especially when towing.😬
Yes so happy and thankful it was not worse
Talmange said, “I need to drink, my nerves bad!” 😮 I am glad this didn’t go real bad. You all handled it like a champ. Use the fire extinguisher next time. Don’t risk it in the future because water can’t be used on all fires. Put an extinguisher near all doors and in your Passthrough too!
Good lessons learned. Great reminder to do your wheel maintenance, check your extinguishers (they do expire), and have a plan for emergencies. Good information as always. Oh, and watch the videos. Glad you all are safe…..
@Roll_with_R.C. Will do and Thank you!
The tire wasn’t the problem it’s the bearings need to be replaced and repacked check the spindle for scoring. The bearings failed which caused friction that causes heat that splattered the grease which would look like oil when the grease has melted and emptied itself which caused a 🔥
Yep.
Scary, but you're getting everything fixed. Good deal, nothing worse happened. Safe travels
Good day family, this is Navy Man Keith. On your RV Trailer you must check your wheel bearings. You must Take apart the wheel bearings and grease them with High Temperature grease. There's grease on the bearings not oil. Always keep clean grease on those bears. Be safe out on the road.
Thank you for the tip Keith! We will keep that in mind and definitely grease our wheel bearings with High Temperature grease.
First of all, glad you all are safe. You would not expect that with a new rig. it is a good thing you all walk around the rig to check things. I have never seen a wheel on fire like that.
Our rig was used but when we picked it up, the first thing I did was to check/repack the wheel bearings since I did not know when it was done last. Fortunately, you have multiple axles and could still move using the other 2 axles after you removed the wheel; we only have a single axle. I'm old school and remember when wheel bearings needed to be packed regularly in cars/trucks. Now, most are sealed.
Emergency service can be expensive. You remind me, I need to check/replace our fire extinguishers. Our rig is going on 7 years old and it is probably the original one. Safe Travels.
Thank you! I will be checking the bearings more often!
@@AdventureBandits1 You're welcome! As a rule of thumb, I repack our bearings every 12,000 miles or 12 months.
So glad you guys are ok and shared this. Reminds us to check everything and not get discouraged when things happen on the road.
agree and thank you Pam we learned a lot and hope it will help others.
Hub seal. They can leak if they aren’t properly seated. That needs to be resealed ASAP cause the bearings must stay lubricated. Most truck stops can fix that in a jiffy. We are glad you’re ok. Ps. Get a fire extinguisher inside your tow vehicle. Good luck
@Harlemworldboy Great advice if you saw that grease as he did what would you advise to do especially a novice like me ?
I’m glad to see you both in the video because it could’ve been worse. Just understand with the common conscience and the amount of prayer warriors you have you’re covered and protected!! May your journey be filled with peace as you travel!🙌🏿🙌🏿
So happy your good and was able to keep your framed of mind on what to do. Yes it’s $$$$ but you guys were in the right mined to do the right thing. ❤️❤️❤️🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼are with you
We had this same thing happen to us this past summer. I can still remember that burnt smell... Glad you guys were able to get it out and were safe. We had just come back from an rv trip and we were taking it back to storage when we heard a loud chirp/squeal while making a turn. Minutes later we smelled something strange, and someone pulled up next to and said, "your back wheel is on fire!"
Wow! We are glad you had a kind person to also reach out and help. Did you have further damage and glad you are safe.
@@AdventureBandits1 we had to replace the whole axle for $1,200 but we did ourselves. Thank God more damage didn't happen because the propane like was just above it.
😇😇😇glad you guys are good. Good team work an excellent example of working together.😊
Thank you!
We had this problem on our boat trailer. Safe travels going forward!
Sorry to hear that. I hope that it didn't take you long to get it fix
Glad someone noticed it 😮!!
I am so happy y’all are ok, the RV is ok and no one was hurt. The moment Ashanti said $700 I thought to myself….. I bet Talmadge is going to watch that video….. 🤣🤣😁
He sure is. 😂
Hey adventure Bandits the TH-camrs Iron Irene has the same issue with the same suspension system you installed !! You may already know that !
Yep, Irene Iron Travels lost their entire wheel/tire assembly somewhere along the hwy and caused a small brush fire. Scary!
You’re done the right thing by taking off the tire, your wheelbearings were gone. Water also helps it to seize up. You guys should be covered by your warranty parts and labor. Please check that great job. I wrote you guys before I had a trailer many of the same things finally got a class a those problems are gone. Keep your head up. You’re done well.😊
I’m so happy that you guys are safe! That is very scary and thankfully it was seen/caught before it got worse. The lord looks out for us at all times. ❤
It's the same hub on the same side as changing lanes had on their rig and Irene iron travels had on their rig on their more ride independent suspension
Glad you noticed the grease at your stop, also glad you two were able to get the fire put out and found a safe place to park to asses and get repaires done. I'm not sure if you guys have a TPMS, if you do great, if not i suggest you get one. That would have shown that wheel hotter than the others. Also get yourself an infrared heat gun to check your tires and hub EVERYTIME you stop. One last thing i hope you reached out to Morryde who installed those wheels after the suspension upgrade. I have seen this same failure on two other youtube channels recently. Hopefully you guys are repaired and back on the road again. Safe travels y'all.
@nathan_livingourjourney365 Great advice I travel in Florida and those tires get hot 🥵 on a recent trip they heated up so much that I pulled over and googled tire temps thankfully I was 50* shy of danger zone but I did check with infra red gun I just purchased
Yes we have tpms but it did not alert use. The wheel was normal temp.
Hello , hello, OMG, guys, I just watched the video, so glade y'all are safe, sending prayer.❤
Thank you so much for your prayers! 🙏
Small problems can get big real quick. I had a blowout that caused over $ 1,600 in repairs. And I still had to replace the cheap tires that came on the camper. But thats part of the “adventure”. Keep having fun.
I know you been beaten up on this wheel issue but remember Water on hot oil with fire is the same as putting water on a grease fire, Keep fire Extinguishers handy and Reflective vests on whenever outside the vehicle on the side of the road, Check to see if they can change the wheel hub lubrication to grease other than oil, with grease you don't get the dry and lockup surprise. Get a short chain in the future to hoist and secure that axle hub up in the event this happen again. Again Glad you guys are safe and was not on the Interstate at highway speeds.
Thank you for all of your feedback it means a lot.
WOW! Glad you are both Safe! You both handled it well considering the stress of the situation.
Glad there was a place to stay nearby.
😃
Thank you so much! We were very fortunate to find a place to stay nearby.
Where is your fire extinguisher
In that big ole rig, seems like they'd have at least 2.
Exactly.
He did a great job with just water.
Fast acting y’all.👍🏾 Could have been much worse. Thankfully no real damage and a great campground. Blessed yall are okay. 25:29 I felt that exhale 😮💨 Tal! Y’all both did really well in the circumstances. Safe travels out there!
So glad this was not worse for you. So glad you were able to catch it. We have a fire extinguisher in our truck behind the drivers seat, one right inside the back door, one right inside the front door and one inside the underbay storage. For this exact reason. You just never know. I'm wondering if your wheel bearing was over packed?
So glad you're both ok!
Good thing you checked the tires at the stop. That's so important.
Great eye Talmadge nothing worse than a problem on the road been there done that. (Transmission)hoping all goes well. Your Atwood friend.
Thank you Mike! We as RVers agree worse problem to have and now how to prevent them if we can. Hope to see you soon friend. You know us we hangout at Atwood a lot.
Shanti, you talking about you were shook up, I was too when I saw Talmange come out there with that little cup of water instead of the Fire Extinguisher.!!!🤷🤦 That could have really been bad, especially if that tire would have blown up on him.🤷 At least with the Fire Extinguisher he could have stepped back while putting the fire out.🤷 I hope Yall will give us a Video Update so we can know what happened.
Absolutely, also breakdown and the why’s… appreciate your support. More to come that will shock you even more.
I'm so glad you guys were so on alert that could have caught the R.V. on fire thank god for the person who warned you guys.
Be safe and enjoy your trip.
Yes it could have. I'm happy that we take frequent stops and check everything each stop.
So glad you guys were safe and great job to Your husband for being diligent in watching his mirrors
Y’all handled it well another problem and you guys jumped on it definitely a team thanks for sharing
I’m glad you and other motorists are safe , I remember my first camping trip in my 17’ travel trailer ,and to present day I kept a fire 🔥 extinguisher on my campsite another camper passed by and commented that “ that’s not necessary “ I told him you never saw a fire. I keep 2 in my tow vehicle and one in camper after watching this I’ll add a second one , watching you squirt water on a grease fire with a ketchup bottle was mind boggling 100.000 $ rig with 10-15 k in solar have you thought about a fire suppression system in garage if your hauling toys with gas ⛽️ As brand ambassadors if in fact you are. I noticed that on camera you didn’t call Jayco . Thankfully a motorist alerted you , lastly there are no ifs ands or buts When it comes to emergency repairs accommodations ect especially in the wake of what you just experienced, by the grace of God 🙏🏽 you dodged a major bullet that rig could’ve been toast in less than 5 minutes, and I’m not being critical I’m just commenting with that being said I’m thankful you posted and shared this experience because it definitely opened my eyes more to the potential hazards of pulling a fifth wheel and yea we all have insurance but insurance companies can deny a claim quicker than we we pay our premiums thanks again I learned a lot
Thank you for your comments and concerns. We will definitely be looking into a fire suppression system for our garage.
Thank God you both are safe and the damage was minimal also what a blessing a RV park was near as well. This video definitely highlights something else to check while traveling in our RVs.
Yes, we were very lucky that we were close to a park!
I’m sorry this happened to you guys! I think you are the third or fourth couple we’ve seen get burned by this same problem with the MORryde suspensions. I hope that they make it right for you.
@irene iron travels
@changing lanes
I’ll come back again if I find the other ones.
They all had the same bearing lockup. The first couple never even found their wheel!!!
Totally sucks you had to go through that, however, you got lucky as well and being close to a good rv park too... SAFE TRAVELS!!!
Thank you for the kind wishes!
Lol when things get stressed, take a really good deep breath in fact take three of them. It helps to clear the mind of panic and helps you think clearly. Trust me I’ve used it a lot lol. I think overall you guys did pretty darn good.
Thank you for the advice. I will remember to take deep breaths.
Yeah, she panicked and exclaimed they needed water 3-5x which isn't helping the situation. Glad they got it worked out though.
Happy you caught it before it got any worse than what it was! Whew! If you don't already, get some safety triangles for the street, to place behind your trailer if you ever have to do this again. Safety first! Glad y'all are ok.
@Moonrocket59 Great advice I forgot to mention that in my comments I carry 2 cones flares and a flag and a vest everybody laughs at me I hope I never have to use them but I’m glad I have them
Thank you for the concern and the reminder to get some safety triangles!
Looks like you guys need to practice fire drills and escape routes!! Ashanti yelling get eater and Talm was thinking get water. Completely forgot about your fire extinguishers. Also prx using the extinguishers!
DEFINITELY HAVE AN EMWRGENCY PLAN. FIRE EXITS, EXTINGUISHERS, WHAT TO DO ETC!
Wow. I’m happy you’re both are safe. I know what to watch for while I’m traveling. Thank you for your videos. Love it. Traveling V.
I'm glad you two are safe. You got me scared to tow my rv now. I am definitely checking before I roll out. Thanks for sharing.
We hope this will help you avoid a similar situation. Thank you for watching.
Glad you both were safe 🙏🏾
Thank you!
Thanks Adventure Bandits for always showing us THE REAL SIDE of RV Life. And Ashanti’s mouth like a Veroni… I mean, a Sailor! Lmao😂
Straight up sailor mouth
I'm very happy you guys are ok. I remember when the tree fell on your other RV. Glad you are fully insured. Good looking out Talmadge.
So happy you two are safe...the "Bowman's "
Thank you! Long time no hear.
Thank God, you guys are OK… after all that you’ve been through it’s definitely clear that you are covered by the Lord! 🙏🏽
Thank you for your kind words. 🙏🏽
You guys have to get a few cans of the fire extinguisher sprays. Keep one in your truck and keep one right at the door of your rig
Will do!
So glad you guys are ok and you both didn’t panic and handled that so well. Thankfully Talmange was so aware of the rig and monitoring it.
Thank you! Talmange is constantly checking on the rig when we traveling.
It just goes to show the importance of fire drills. When time is of the essence, what you rehearse and make automatic matters most. Thank God it was not worse. Be safe and be well, Talmange and Ashanti. 🙏🏾💙🤍❤️
You are so right. We know where everything is located after having this situation take place.
So so so sorry you all hade to go through that, love yall attitude dealing with this, yall know this stuff just happens.
Just like the Banks say enjoy the journey along the way.
Stay safe
Thank you Lord God.
you did great Talm...first you noticed the grease....once that heated up...fire...EXTINGHISH...repair....great job you two...
Thank you!
T" No worries; you did great. From what I can see, that is an easy fix. Hey, just remember to add checking your hubs to your list. On one of our trips, I was refueling the truck. Before leaving I did my walk around and found grease on the center hub cap. and the center cap was missing. Looking inside of the hun cap I saw that the clear grease cap was off. That clear cap retains the grease/oil in the hub. Before departing on a trip, I always remove that center cap and make sure the clear cap is tight.
Wow... I know now that I have to start keeping an eye on my hubs as well. Good suggestion 👌
Another thing…. Talmange was looking for water. Because you sounded thirsty. “Water we need water” lol. Still good follow trough. WTG. And great learning experience for all of us.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video! 😜
Yes fire extinguisher don't use water for oil fire makes it worse
So so so glad that y’all are ok and safe and the entire rig did not catch fire! Wow, that’s a lot! Not sure what I could do to help out
Thank you, your kind words are appreciated.
Seeing your video gave me the motivation to get me a temperature gun to prepare for our trip. I always have a bearings grease gun. I always touch my tires at the stops but I see it wasn’t hot to the touch at the truck stop. We have a Disney trip next month. We like your new rig
I'm glad that it has inspired you. 🙏🏾
Glad y'all ok and safe , that's right thing to do remove that tire
Thank you.
I do our wheelbearings once a year or every 5k to 8k and put your hand on the wheel hub every time you stop🍻
From here on out. I will definitely be more conscious of the wheel bearings.
❤ i’m glad you two are safe now!
Thank God y'all are safe and the fire was caught early. Also, there was a rv campground off the highway that had a site available!!!
Thank you, we are grateful to be safe.
Wow this was a very close call. Blessings on Blessings😇🙏🏽💕
I'm glad you guys &your rig is okay. It's definitely a reminder for wheel bearing service !
Thank you! Yes, it is important to remember the wheel bearings.
❤ i’m glad you two are safe now! I’m in California
Thank you, we are glad to be safe. 😊
Thank god you guys safe.
Thank you!
Glad both of you are okay!
Thank you.
Bandit thank God you're safe. But I would have threw that phone down. And help with the water😮
Looks like your hubs are grease packed if they are you might want to change them to oil bath they would stay a lot cooler that way you can visually check the oil levels
Glad all is safe……
I'm sorry all this happened it's a good thing it didn't happen in the middle of nowhere
Yesss... We usually travel at night as well. I'm so happy that we change up our travel times also.
So glad you guys are safe🙏🏾
Thank you!
Glad you noticed the fire and got it out in time.
Talmange always on point ❤ This your initiation of 2025 well done!!
You are right this has definitely been an initiation for 2025. 😅
Thank God you were able to get to a safe location before the tire completely caught on fire. As I was watching the video I was saying, where is your fire extinguisher? I was thinking that you decided to not use one on purpose. When in the moment of adversity and total panic the brain does strange things.
Thank you.
We have two of them. I didn't want to use them because I knew that water would do the job.
I thank GOD you both are safe from the fire tire. I would check back with the company that put those new tires on during your RV upgrade. It seems something was Short cut and tire components / mechanism was not properly installed. Oil should not have leaked. 2,000 is a lot to pay for someone else's negligence. You've spent enough for the upgrade. Will continue to pray for you both. Again, glad you are safe. Blessings.🙏
This is the 2nd moryde wheel i have seen melted.
The other one came all the way off .
Whenever you see grease on your wheels that's a sign that a wheel seal is going out and need to be replaced immediately, loves could have replaced it.
Yes, you are right.
Glad you caught it in time. Hope you get it fixed and in the way.
Thank you, we are hoping to get it fixed soon.
So glad your safe and person who alerted you
Thank you.
Hey Bandits, sorry that happened and it wasn't any worse ... Yall handled it well...
Thank you!
Looks like the breaks were stuck on that wheel and got hot then all the grease came out and over heated .
Just watched the video. It's good a driver warned you, and you pulled over as soon as you could. A few points, 1. It looks that axle system has oil hub other than grease, so when you lost the oil the bearings got hot and destroyed themselves, 2. Try not to use water on wheel fire it can make a bigger fire use your extinguisher to put out the fire and let the wheel cool down on its own, 3. have a reflective vests available to place on the back of the RV while on the side of the road, and when the wife was walking alongside, she should wear a vest as well. 4. Have a sturdy chain with grap hooks that you could use to hold the bad axle up as you drove to the campground. I'm glad you guys made it to the campground safely, but remember lessons learned keep a fire extinguisher close by 1 in the truck and another one by the RV doors. Now is the time to have the oil levels checked on the other wheels. 9 times out of 10 the hub that got hot must be replaced due to the heat, you will need new races and bearings., Think about lightening your load just FYI RV Safe Out There and good job watching your mirrors.
Glad you are safe
🤗
God is Good! Glad you guys are Ok.
Thank you for your kind words!
Take those coats off in my state.😂😂😂 Love y'all Ty in Lakeland Florida
Glad y'all are safe
When we first arrived on Florida it was freezing, now we are burning up. 😄
Wow thank God you caught that before it got any worse🖤❤️🙏🏿
Thank God!
So sorry to see you guys have this happen to you. Glad you are safe and were able to mitigate the damage quickly. The upside (if there is one) is that you guys were able to limp your rig on two axles/tires to the RV park. There is no way a dual-axle rig could have done that. Thankfully that RV park was very close by.
You are absolutely right, thank you for the positive perspective.
and with the IS did you just use the leveling jacks to raise the RV to change the tire
Yes, i did.
Welcome back to Florida.
Give us a shout if you get towards West Palm Beach
The ugly side of Rving, glad to see y'all are safe and didn't have any major damage. Safe travels!
Thank you!
I'm glad you folks are okay!
Thank you!
Happy you all were ok..
Awwee thank you 😊
juat watched the video we also have IS,, making me think about carrying a set or two of bearings with us, not that its something I can do anymore but would have them on hand, waiting for a follow up video an how it all went,,, also do you need an alignment now?
That’s a wheel bearing overheating and probably ceased up. Always carry automotive fire extinguishers, especially with trailers. I hope all is Okay.
From here on out we are carrying extra wheels bears as well. We learned a big lesson.
@@AdventureBandits1 I have dealt with this in the Military working on equipment. this is a common issue even with new trailers, remember grease can turn into oil when it gets hot enough and will start a fire. glad you guys are okay. 🙏🏾
I’m glad everyone is safe. Save all your receipts. Jayco will be reimbursing you 100%.
Not a Jayco issue and thank you more will be shared on the next video.
