FEAR's AI actually isn't that advanced. It's all smoke and mirrors with their massive library of callouts that make them seem so smart. There's plenty of videos explaining their AI at work. Worth the watch.
Most game makers prefer bullet sponges to smart AI. I mean, look at Fallout 4. Pretty sad. The AI in New Vegas was pretty much as stupid, but the weapons that you'd be able to use made them. reasonably easy to take down most of the time.
@@Lilmanroachyd Smoke and Mirrors? The Enemy soldiers in FEAR, despite their homogenous appearance, are unlike those you're used to. Start shooting them, and they'll run away - just like you would. Throw a grenade, they'll run for cover - just like you would. If they feel outgunned, they'll be cautious - just like you would. They'll try to flank you, try to outsmart you. They act as though they don't want to die. They have something that the enemies in a thousand other games will never have. They have life. That's Smoke and Mirrors? Jesus
@Hanayama Kaoru stalker’s AI is waaaay better than FEAR’s. Except for Monolith. They’ll chuck a grenade at a wall and then get KO’d on the bounce back. Guess that’s just what happens when you get your brain beefed. Though.
Great video AL!!! Glad to see you switch it up every know and then...Also I was going to mention I’ve noticed a lot of people including myself are going to back to playing older games. For example I ironically just downloaded this game two weeks ago and beat it on Hard difficulty awhile ago, and unlocked impossible difficulty. Which in my opinion not only makes the gameplay all the much harder because you die in one or two swipes by the necromorphs and other enemies but makes the game more intense and scary as well. Anyways have fun playing!
"Is it still scary?" I played this game multiple times, unlocked the best armor and weapons and I STILL get scared by sounds from the vents... good luck playing this masterpiece!
I think it’s the combination of lighting (or lack of lol) and sounds the enemies make and how they almost come out of nowhere really puts you on edge I never felt safe in entire game I was always expecting some zombie to come out of nowhere and get me.

I'm loving the spooky Halloween content Al. Dead Space is the one game I had to stop playing/watching with friends years ago. Couldn't deal with it at all lol
Al, you should have told us you were going to play this, and do a live stream! I could have gave you all sorts of tips, such stomp every body you see until it has no head, arms and legs, that way the bat like creature can't turn it into a necromorph or revive dead necromorphs. You can use your psychic powers to grab the claws you cut off the necromorphs and then use them as harpoons. The scorpion like enemies are easily stomped to death if you slice the tail off. The game will make enemies only drop ammo for the weapons you own, and usually only what you carry. To maximize your ammo only get the starter gun and the larger wider brother of it. It's a cheap tactic but if you can get the tank armor dlc the game gets a lot easier.
Hey Al, love the videos. I always crave watching you play horror games, and I just wanted to say you should absolutely play Suite 776, it's a really good horror game that's not too long, if you haven't played it I think it would be amazing, considering it's the spooky month and all
I've been streaming through the Dead Space series the past few weeks. Dead Space 2 definitely was more intense than the first game. Got a couple screams out of me lol

Dead Space is the first horror game I ever played and beaten. It got me into survival horror. Still don't like horror games like Amnesia. I don't being completely helpless in a game. Just a personal preference. That said Dead Space still holds up on being spooky last I played it about a year ago when I purchased the entire trilogy digitally when it was on sale. It has a very spooky atmosphere. Personally Dead Space 2 is my favorite in the series since I like environments a bit more. Edit: Thank god Al eventually started to rotate his weapon. Makes it so much easier to hit their legs and arms horizontal than vertical.

Dead Space is an Awesome survival horror game that is an absolute blast to play and explore its eery and creepy setting. But for some reason ive never really ever got scared by it like yh sure it has its moments of wtf is that but nothing that im afraid of. Woth that said tho take nothing away dead space is still an awesome piece of horror with great creature designs, fantastic setting, effective sound design and a great feeling of isolation that most horror doesnt even come close to having.
Dead Space is definitely closer to the horror mark than - ironically - FEAR, particularly the first Dead Space which relies more heavily on atmosphere and the 'unknown' than its sequels. Maybe try Alien: Isolation if you want genuine dread as opposed to jump scares. For what flaws I could find in the game, it's still the only one that I've actually had to take a break from playing because I didn't like how anxious it was making me.

F.E.A.R's crowning achievement is the how advanced the enemy AI is. As FPSs go FEAR beats most modern.

My daughter won't let me play Dead Space. If she sees it, she yells "No! Dangerous!" and tries to cover the screen with her arms.
