      Thanks ! Yes there is an ESPHome addon which let you see your node, add the configuration and flash/update it. But for the initial upload, you'll have to plug it to your Home Assistant server.
      I'll include a video about that addon in the series in the next weeks.

    Dude thank you! This is so clear. I have been confused all week not being able to find clear instructions, there's a lot of different info out there. This was really helpful.

      @@ReidProjects Are you planning to make tutorials or projects with Raspberry?

    do I need a esphome router of any sorts, or does it just run in my wifi?

    Thanks for sharing. A question though: why don't you add Esphome directly into HA? It's super convenient

    • @ReidProjects
      @ReidProjects  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      On my side, my Home Assistant server is under my stairs, so it's not really convenient to plug my devices to my Raspberry Pi for the initial flash. That said, I'm already using the ESPHome add-on for the updates, I'll post a video about this in this series.
      Thanks !

      @@ReidProjects I'm not connecting anything to my HA, especially now when it's running it on my Synology - I just create a simple template on ESPhome on HA, download the .bin file on my laptop, use github.com/esphome/esphome-flasher/releases to flash the .bin file on ESP board. Don't get me wrong, i'm not trying to show you that you are wrong ...

      @@valentinene I do exactly the same. So much easier and having the ESPhome Web UI is really nice to see all of your devices as well.
      Great work though @Reid Projects, keep up the good work!

    Possible to turn on and off using a rocker switch?

    • @ReidProjects
      @ReidProjects  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you could add a rocker switch on the GPIO14 which is exposed on the header we add. Then you could add the GPIO14 as a binary sensor.
      You would only have to decide what to do if the switch is ON and that someone switch it off on Home Assistant (or another system)
      Hope this helps ! Let me know if you need more details

    Its not needed to solder the pins for flashing...Just stick the short end into the PCB and hold it there while flashing.
    Tasmotoziser-1.1 is far more easy to use, needs no install & does exactly whats needed or you could just use the flasher through ESPHome in HA instead of OTA (Shows up (upper right corner) as possible selection when FTDI inserted into HA-computer & its restarted).

    • @ReidProjects
      @ReidProjects  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks I didn't hear about Tasmotoziser before, I'll definitely give it a try.
      I'm already using the ESPhome addon to update my nodes but since my Home Assistant server is not really accessible (in a case under my stairs) , I prefer to do the initial flash it directly with my computer.
