Great video. I managed to saved my babies from gen 3, and the remakes of gen 1 on gba, that were in my pearl copy since the release of it in 2007. It took almost a looong time and managed to get all of them into Pokémon home. Now iam doing that with all of my copies to complete the dex.
oh my that's quite a while to have held on to them!! i skipped from red to x and y, so i feel like i've missed out on quite a bit compared to having that continuity of moving the same guys from gen to gen :"-)
i recently bridged the gap between gen 4 and gen 5 for the first time, allowing me to transfer my original pokemon from pearl version to black version and then omega ruby. ive always dreamed of taking my piplup on new adventures and im so happy to finally be able to do it after having it on the same cartridge for 16 years.
This also reminded me of my own Pokemon memories, the first one was on the GBA and it was Emerald. Swampert was my first pokemon ever and he had an Adamant nature, so from then on I only caught Adamant nature pokemon, as I thought it was the best nature. Such a notalgia on this video!!
I doubt there's any hope, but it'd be cool if Nintendo released an official Save porter for gens1/2 hardware so this can be done "legit". As far as hacking/save editing goes, this is probably the only thing I'd approve of.
So apparently Pokémon bank will be free after the date closes although if you didn’t pay for the subscription you won’t be able to unlock poke transfer which is needed to send stuff to home. So don’t worry even if you don’t transfer them by the time ends you will always be able to do this so long as you once payed the fee for bank one before the eshop closes. That being said although you can buy most of the games from the eshop you can’t do this with gen 3 games and thus you actually need a system that can hold game boy and ds cartridges which is a real pain.
Oh man I'm starting to remember how I managed to transfer my original mudkip from Pokemon Emerald to all of the 3DS games. Shes now waiting in Pokemon Home to be able to stretch her legs in any game at this point.
This is INCREDIBLE!!!! Made me smile so much, and miss my own pokemon yellow team a lot too~ My oldest 'mon is from one of my first few playthroughs of Sapphire back when I was 10 or 11, he's a Manectric that luckily lives safely in Pokemon Home. He's like 17 years old now lol!
Loved the video, it’s so cool to see the flow of moving an almost 30 year old pokemon up to the latest generation. A small comment to improve future videos, could the subtitles be adjusted to include a drop shadow, maybe a different font colour too, to make them easier to read? Please keep it up Rei!
This is literally what dreams are made of, when i and im sure many of you thought wow we can keep thi pokemon forever and trwde it to the next games and so on, i wish i had my original pokemon red and other games but i was struggling in life and sold them.
Good to see, I lost my original Blastoise that I moved from Blue to Silver after a 'friend' said he'd do me a favour and take shifts trying to catch Lugia over a weekend, got the cartridge back with a new save on the monday. Was rather upset to say the least
Awesome job!! I no longer have my original games sadly. BUT, I was able to digitally backup a friend's Red version save a couple years ago. He even had a legit Mew from Nintendo!
Be very careful using the GB01 cart reader on 1st gen games. I've had 2 or 3 separate instances where it didn't save any data but the file will always show the same size (this is a known issue and documented on their site and other forums). So if you try to upload the save file to your cartridge, you might accidentally upload a blank save. I've had much better luck with the GBxCart reader although the UI is not as pretty as GB01. EDIT: Also apparently they have closed down their shop. So I'd suggest people go for the GBxCart reader instead
I might not have my old copy of gen 1 blue, but I did manage to bring a Jirachi from the gamecube all the way to scarlet and violet. One hell of a ride that was.
Glad I found someone else who ACTUALLY attempted this! I tried this but couldn't get the .sav file from my gb cart to be read with the 3ds version of the same poke game. Thanks for showing this process! I'll give JKSV a shot next time 🤘
Awesome that you were able to get your originals! Yellow was my first, but I lost the cartridge. The battery on Silver had died, so the earliest functional game I had was Sapphire. I had to buy Pokemon White and Pokemon Sun, play through both of those as well as a copy of Diamond, which my brother owned, but managed to transfer that all the way to Bank and then Home. It was a lot of work, but it's very cool to have some of the Pokemon I played with as a kid.
So this is what Pokemon Bank does... Wow! For someone like myself and even the rest of us 90’s kids who grew up with the original Red/Blue games this is truly magical in its own unique sort of way. Yes it’s just simply a piece of data transferred from one geration of a Pokemon game to the next but the fact that these pieces of data just happen to be unique animals that you grow, train, and even get attached to as you play through the game’s storylines, somehow someway make it all the more special when you see them live on through later gen Pokemon games. There is truly something special and satisfying about that. This is one of the many things that makes the Pokemon franchise so special. Now if we can only pull this off with Pokemon GO lol! ;)
OK, now this is epic!.. I suspected that it is possible but haven't thought someone actually have done that already...Great job!.. Not much of a Pokemon player myself but I definely can feel that... Also with all of the AI things going on now imagine it's a decade later and your pokemons would have their actual complex personalities based of their original stats or something...That would be a story I'd be happy to witness... And with AR they would almost come to life... Sounds somewhat dream-like but many things technology have achived considered dreams not so long ago,so... 😅🤷
I need to figure out how to move my mons from OG gen 1, 2, and 3 cartridges to modern hardware assuming the batteries survived. I'd settle for 3ds currently since even all these years later I still haven't gotten the time to beat ORAS or SM/USUM despite owning Sword (no, didn't get SV but did get Arceus for a work thing). Bank is at least free now if you downloaded it/owned it before the shutdown.
@@MurphWatkins Haven't checked again, but nintendo said they removing the ability to transfer from the 3ds to switch some time in April. So I'd move quick if you can.
I started mine on VC console Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, Crystal on the 3DS. I feel the VC format is better than the current nintendo online service. I'd readily buy gen 3 pokemon games without hesitation if it was on VC format.
My first starter was Feraligatr from a emulator file. It was in 2007 that i had no internet and did a backup save in hotmail, not knowing that 16 years later i could find that save file... And with the help of pkhex i could make his way to Hoenn... I dunno how in hell did i make it work, but there he was... Along with all the main box. I trained him wih bottle caps, won as many ribbons as we could (ORAS), and then went to HOME. Sadly, he wasnt programmed in Galar... Neither in Hisui... Not even in Paldea... Im waiting for the moment we can reunite again. He might be pixels indeed, but i like to think about this Feraligatr as my first pet/friend, i loved him a lot, passed many hours of my childhood with him. Loved your video bro, i really felt the emotion. Oh, and sorry because of my english, im EFL
I hope they honestly find a way to transfer older pokemon games again for the switch. I'm seriously at a loss of how to transfer because I never had a 3DS and just last week bought myself a modded 2DS just to try playing some of the older games.
Man I love the 3DS! I remember how lackluster the launch was but, I still reserved one and had it day one. Games like RE Mercenaries and pilot wings held me over at the start. The console really matured well over the years and I won’t lie, I owned every iteration because I just had to see what was best! 😂 The New 3DS (non XL) and the crystal red 2DS were my favorites visually, and the 2DS was obviously the most comfortable but, they got beat up over the years, so I got a new 2DS XL right before they stopped making them. Great decision though as the increased screen size really is nice, and the weight reduction/balance is so much better than any other 3ds XL models. Gonna miss the online features as they dry up…. 😢
no idea! i guess i’m just super lucky. though rby carts live a lot longer than gsc because they don’t have the clock running all the time, so that’s probably a factor!

It's very likely that you can still install those apps from .cia files after the eshop closes.
@@TheOfficalAndI True, if you can find the files. I was just talking about the "legal" way.
@@BeefJerkey Hmm I don't think getting the files from an archive somewhere is illegal, the software was free to begin with.
From a legal standpoint, no idea.
Having to go through hoops and stuff, just because the 3ds eshop closes is pretty silly.
Maybe Nintendo decides to not be evil anymore at some point.
Absolutely fantastic. Glad theres a working "bridge" for this
This was awesome to watch. I'm a little jealous. My original Pokemon Red cartridge is long gone.
PSA: they have officially stated that Bank will continue work after the eShop closes, just as a free service! you just have to have it installed before the closure
And the poketransfer?
@@malgestoal8971 if you have it installed already, there is no reason it shouldn’t work. PokeTransfer uses wireless connection and doesn’t rely on any additional services beyond what Pokemon Bank needs to work
@@legendofhayden Amazing, thanks!
This is super wholesome! Charizard has a special place in my heart too. I used it in Let’s Go Eevee and in some other games; and I’ve used one on a sun team in competitive too! Her name is Galefire. I know this vid is a year old, but congrats on getting your team to a modern game! Super cute vid to watch.
Just thought I'd pop in to say I really enjoy ur videos and I think ur very underrated :>
aww thank you!!, it really makes my day to see that folks are enjoying my content c:
@@handheld_rei aw ur welcome then :D
Always thought about doing it myself for nostalgic reasons, just don’t have the equipment to do it on.
This was a great video 😁
aww thanks!! glad you enjoyed it c:
The fact that this is doable is so great
i recently bridged the gap between gen 4 and gen 5 for the first time, allowing me to transfer my original pokemon from pearl version to black version and then omega ruby. ive always dreamed of taking my piplup on new adventures and im so happy to finally be able to do it after having it on the same cartridge for 16 years.
Damn, This was like my entire lifespan of generations in just 5 minutes.
Be careful there’s a game deleting bug in S/V and there’s mixed reports of what’s causing the bug to happen.
Seems to be mainly due to Pokemon Go connectivity, So i wouldn't connect go with S/V
My first video game was pokémon yellow on a game boy light, nostalgia.
The relaxing music makes it better too, i plan to do this with my childhood sceptile
Great work saving your old pals!
I love the fact that she has the cutest version of every console
i have my priorities i guess :”-)
I mean, my cartridge battery died like 15 years ago so I'm amazed just at the fact that yours is still going.
Please keep it up Rei!
this is such a great idea for many reasons, ill try ordering the card reader and doing the same hopefully
This is literally what dreams are made of, when i and im sure many of you thought wow we can keep thi pokemon forever and trwde it to the next games and so on, i wish i had my original pokemon red and other games but i was struggling in life and sold them.
Fantastic video with a really nice relaxed vibe, thank you so much :)
thank you!! glad you enjoyed it c:
It's Like Converting A Save File From Another Game That's Pretty Awesome ❤
That was really wholesome ❤️
I might not have my old copy of gen 1 blue, but I did manage to bring a Jirachi from the gamecube all the way to scarlet and violet. One hell of a ride that was.
Glad I found someone else who ACTUALLY attempted this! I tried this but couldn't get the .sav file from my gb cart to be read with the 3ds version of the same poke game. Thanks for showing this process! I'll give JKSV a shot next time 🤘
where could i find everything used in this video? because im facing the same problem with my pokemon yellow on my gameboy advanced sp
There is a store in Salem Oregon that replaces the batteries in old cartridges for 10$ per cartridge. I need to do this with my Ruby game.
Nice work getting your friends on switch!
😅🤷
My 6-mon Chansey Squad _will live forever!_
man old friends and new games this is trully pokemon
I need to figure out how to move my mons from OG gen 1, 2, and 3 cartridges to modern hardware assuming the batteries survived. I'd settle for 3ds currently since even all these years later I still haven't gotten the time to beat ORAS or SM/USUM despite owning Sword (no, didn't get SV but did get Arceus for a work thing). Bank is at least free now if you downloaded it/owned it before the shutdown.
Nice! Can you give the link of the cartridge ripper?
Isn't pokemon bank staying after the eshop closes
I'll have to learn how to put the save file from carts on to my 2DS :0
Learned some thing new today! ~
Hell yeah. I just moved all of my pokemon from gens 3-7 onto my switch this week, so I feel this
Is this still possible?
@@MurphWatkins Haven't checked again, but nintendo said they removing the ability to transfer from the 3ds to switch some time in April. So I'd move quick if you can.
I started mine on VC console Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, Crystal on the 3DS. I feel the VC format is better than the current nintendo online service. I'd readily buy gen 3 pokemon games without hesitation if it was on VC format.
pretty cool how you're just able to do it, even by unofficial means
this makes me so happy to see
Im so glad I wasnt the only one to do this!
Coincidentally - if you want that battery installed like a real adult, lemme know.
Bless your soul Ray. Please keep making videos 🥺
Chandler is so cute 🤩 also nice console collection!
aww thank you!! he really is my favorite mon 🥹
@@handheld_rei Np and keep up the great videos!
There's no visual difference between Chandler and all other Charizards so all Charizards are cute
I really starting to love the way the white 2ds looks I want
I hope they honestly find a way to transfer older pokemon games again for the switch. I'm seriously at a loss of how to transfer because I never had a 3DS and just last week bought myself a modded 2DS just to try playing some of the older games.
Man I love the 3DS! I remember how lackluster the launch was but, I still reserved one and had it day one. Games like RE Mercenaries and pilot wings held me over at the start. The console really matured well over the years and I won’t lie, I owned every iteration because I just had to see what was best! 😂
The New 3DS (non XL) and the crystal red 2DS were my favorites visually, and the 2DS was obviously the most comfortable but, they got beat up over the years, so I got a new 2DS XL right before they stopped making them. Great decision though as the increased screen size really is nice, and the weight reduction/balance is so much better than any other 3ds XL models. Gonna miss the online features as they dry up…. 😢
How did your sabe survived many years?
no idea! i guess i’m just super lucky. though rby carts live a lot longer than gsc because they don’t have the clock running all the time, so that’s probably a factor!
