Boris Asafyev - «The Fountain of Bakhchisarai»

The Fountain of Bakhchisarai is a ballet based on the poem of the same name by Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin. This ballet was created in 1932, and its author is the composer Boris Asafyev. The ballet tells the love story of Khan Giray and the captive Maria, which ends tragically due to the jealousy and revenge of other characters.

In the late 1950's I saw a shortened version of this ballet at the movies. 'Stars of Russian Ballet' with Maya Plisetskaya and Galina Ulanova. It was the beginning of my life long obsession with ballet.

Seeing the Nutcracker as a kid started my obsession with ballet in general. Then, just over a year ago, I found the shortened version of this ballet on TH-cam, and it only added to my obsession.
