Baird's sandpiper are long-distance migrants. They leave their breeding grounds in the arctic and head for South America, even going as far as the tip of South America. Their journey is at least 3,700 miles (5.954km).
The solitary sandpiper is a medium-distance migrant, going from Alaska and northern Canada to Mexico, Central America and South America.
Killdeer are medium-distance migrants and residents in some areas. For those who migrate, they travel from Canada and the US to Mexico, Central American and the tip of South America.
