I just want to take a moment to appreciate how this guy 8 years ago was ahead of his time in the way of doing teaching, the patience and everything, hope you are having a good life nowadays Chris!!! and thanks for all
Thank you for the lesson! It's great! For anyone needing tabs: 1. Intro: 4:14 2. part 2: 7:42 3. Part 3: 11:16 4. Part 4: 15:11 5. part 5: 17:45 6. part 6: 21:36 7. part 7: 24:11 8. part 8: 27:43 9. part 9: 31:22
There's a ton of people that give guitar lessons on you tube But they only teach bits never the hole song and most of them jump straight in to the lesson It's not till you learn it that you relies it's a cheap knock off to what you want to learn I love that you played it first I loved that you explained it by frets and strings it was like you was just taking tab I loved that you tell the strumming pattern The best guitar teacher on here Thank you for not treating me like a idiot I don't know if you will read this but thanks P.s could you teach you've got a friend in me
I haven’t even finished watching this , but I’m already sure this guy is one of the best guitar teachers on You Tube. Most of the others waste lots of time talking or don’t clearly show what they are playing. I love the way he gets right to it and doesn’t forget to connect it all together as a complete piece of music. Thanks Chris!
I don't mean to brag or anything like that, I'm a very humble person by nature, but I can finally play this song consistently, without much difficulty. It took me a while, but I finally got to a point where I'm comfortable with the tempo. The key is to start slow and work your way up. Now as for playing with two fingers, what I'm trying to get at is that I am self-taught and have really poor technique, so when I play fast, I tend to go back to my roots of playing melodies with only 2 or 3 fingers and if I force myself to, I can play this solo at original speed. In some ways, it actually makes it easier for me, cause I spend less time worrying about grips and where my fingers should be. I also may or may not have some kind of medical condition related to hand-eye coordination, which also makes it easier for me to just slide down the neck with one finger at the 1:37 part. In fact, if you've learned the way have, you already have the timing down, so its second nature and you mostly just need to work on your right hand technique, which is the main reason it took me so long to get this song down. I started with fingerstyle, classical and flamenco guitar, so I never learned to use a pick, but here I had to re-learn to strum with very small movements, in order to keep up with the tempo properly. Still don't use a pick, tho my nails are long enough that I don't have to anymore. I used the song misirlou to make it a bit more fun to practice strumming properly :)
Brilliant is not a strong enough word to describe Django, how could a man with just 2 fingers create a master piece like this... What an inspiration to us all....
young man, you are an incredibly talented musician! anyone who can play Django, Avenged Sevenfold, Metallica and Prince, and play it all with feeling, precision and expert level aptitude is deserving of my respect, admiration and envy. i tip my hat to you and call you Maestro!
Awesome format. I like how you play through the whole tune while the section number displays on the bottom then go through each part. A well spent 30 minutes. Thanks
Best. Clearest. Guitar lesson out there. Started this morning after threatening for thirty years. So glad I found this. Thought it well beyond me. But..... slowly but surely. Thank you.
yeah this song is absolutely crazy, but one of my guitar friends told me that this is the song that everyone starts out with when learning gypsy jazz ;( but wicked
This is amazing. So inspiring. Been practise like a maniac for a week and can now almost play it all in Django-speed. This made me enjoy my guitar more then ever. Thanks a lot man!
Amazing tutorial as always. You should do a tutorial to show the beginners how to dial tone for an electric guitar (Amp settings, etc.)! Cheers from India!
I'm getting back into playing music, and when I first picked up guitar, I noticed that my own technique was very much inspired by Django - watching you work the fret board, I'm seeing habits I do in my own playing! Mel Bay's great, but Django's style just feels more intuitive for me. Thank you for breaking it down!
This is great. I love how you don't waste time with that: " place your index finger of your fretting hand on the fifth......." for every bloody note. Great job man, I'm so happy I found this. Cheers!
Best instructional video ive ever watched. I havent tried to tackle something so new to me in style in probably ten years. Im going to watching this for days on end until i slay this beast. Cheers from NY!!
Watching this video at the beginning : God damn that's hard. Follow every step, pause, learning, 3 days later : Damn that was (not really so...) easy, I can manage. Nice lesson thank you very much !!!!
Hey Man, thanks a lot for this great lesson. I think its really cool that there are people who makes videolessons for no cash! You made it really good!
I've finally finished learning this song, thank you so much for posting such a thorough lesson I really appreciate it…all thats left is to build up the speed of the chromatic run at 1:37 and ill have it, thanks for so many awesome vids!
Great lesson and you play with great feel :) just starting out on jazz guitar and I have a long way to go but I'm sure this will take me a long way. I learnt to improvise over satin dol and it's amazing how just learning one standard helps your musical vocabulary for tons of other stuff....keep up the good work :)
love this lesson! Hey would you consider doing another Django lesson, PLEASE?? Id also really like to see you do a lesson for Skip James' song Devil got my Woman. Thanks for your great lessons!!
All right, got the notes down in about 4 days. Now I just need to focus in on speed and style >:) Thanks man, awesome job. Would love to see more gypsy jazz lessons.
Chris Zoupa Thanks a lot man! Without this tutorial it would’ve also taken me ages because I would have to spend a lot of time time listening to the recording over and over again to figure out the notes. But thanks to your tutorial it already shows me the notes so I can just practice it until I got it down!
Just a thought, markers might be nice for sections. Not sure how hard it would be put them after the fact. Aaaand this looks like solo #140 so going back would probably suck. But maybe for future stuff. Nice job and nice video man! Always wanted to learn this solo.
Cheers mate, this was unbelievable. Really really easy to follow, and to see, and you presentation with the notation was great. By the way, do you know anywhere in Sydney that I can get gypsy jazz lessons! Would love to learn more.
Chris ! Thanks for that this is the best minor swing tutorial I learned that song so well because of this video . Would you make a video tutorial with Swing 42? Thanks a lot again!
I just want to take a moment to appreciate how this guy 8 years ago was ahead of his time in the way of doing teaching, the patience and everything, hope you are having a good life nowadays Chris!!! and thanks for all

Absolute respect to you for teaching this classic from the man who changed the way the world viewed the guitar.
I was named after him
Awesome format. I like how you play through the whole tune while the section number displays on the bottom then go through each part. A well spent 30 minutes. Thanks
This is wayyyy harder than it looks... Damn jazz guitar is so freaking complicated
do you extract oil with the technique of fracking
VakiPitsi the notes are easy, its just the rhythm and sweep picking like parts
xxChaos97yelxx that’s the cold hard truth!!! Lol! I love it though. It’s a challenge and challenges are fun.
Doesn’t look easy at all
10 years later and this is still the best tutorial for this piece 100%
Best. Clearest. Guitar lesson out there. Started this morning after threatening for thirty years. So glad I found this. Thought it well beyond me. But..... slowly but surely. Thank you.
