Anders gets just as angry in this game as he did in II if you tell him mages get what they deserve and if you are an ass to him. The anger is all there seething, bubbling beneath the funny coating, he just tries to hide it behind a sad joker facade. Jokes hide the crazy and the PTSD and the trauma and the anxious disorder. Justice doesn't put up with any of his coping mechanisms though (not even in this game), so Anders crumbles gradually and takes Justice down with him. Sory folks, but this Anders is already a broken bird.
yes exactly!! i know it's an old comment, but many people keep saying that writers destroyed anders' character and while yes, they could make him a bit more funny or flirty, but it should be logical that sharing a mind with justice would make anders more broody and broken lol
Ikr. People are stupid as sh-t to say that he's been that jolly cheery happy mage back in dao, still of course writers didnt do him any service in da2 tossing him around and using as a plot device. But still. Arguably, he was even more pissed in dao than in da2 - he talked about his experience more in dao than in da2. In da2 it was more impersonate. In dao, just talking about being called inhuman and getting kicked in the head makes my blood boil personally.
Finally I hated that they said he'd been in solitary for a YEAR and he was way too ok for that srsly no one goes through that and is mentally ok afterwards
*Meanwhile in Lowtown Kirkwall* Fem Hawke: *sneezes* Carver: Don't tell me you're getting sick sister Fem Hawke: No I think someone's talking about me Carver: How shocking 🙄
The sheer contrast in his character between Origins and DA2 is astounding, and all the more heart-breaking. Truly one of the best and most well-written characters in the entire trilogy.
well thats the truth. He wasnt planning to run away until they started to treat them horribly and until templars tried to kill him. Try to argue with that.
Despite what people say, he does try to crack few jokes here and there in DA2 which just makes it that more sad to me.. There are some classic andersisms in DA2 too.. Remember 'Well, put me in a dress and call me a templar!'.. ? or that hilarious exchange with Sebastian - Anders: Is that supposed to be Andraste's face on your crotch? Sebastian: What? Anders: That... belt buckle thing. Is that Andraste? Sebastian: My father had this armor commissioned when I took my vows as a brother. Anders: I'm just not sure I'd want the Maker seeing me shove His bride's head between my legs every morning.
Humor is a mechanism for dealing with sht. With anger, sorrow, sadness, stress. Its not an indication of being happy. Its more often the exact opposite.
Hystterii lol I never made the Anders/Cullen connection before right now 😆. But honestly, all I hear when Mhari/the Inquisitor talks is Samantha Traynor from Mass Effect 3.
A lot of people say Anders changed too much, but does anybody notice it's still the same Anders? Justice just had a huge effect on him. You still hear him talk fiercely about mage rights in Awakening, the same excited way as in DA2. Justice just pulled that all up to the surface and strengthened it. Which makes sense, considering Justice at some point asked Anders why he didn't do anything about the mage situation in Awakening. Justice wanted Anders to do more about the situation but Anders's anger made him an extremist instead. He has a very tragic story, but that's not a bad thing. If every character in every story had a happy story with a quick happy ending then it wouldn't be an exciting and real story. It would be a gory fairytale. Also, I love the way he says "I should certainly hope so!" at 6:15 XD
I hate how everyone says Anders is better in Awakening/ their's a massive difference between them. Listen to anders dialogue/ off comments and he's just as spiteful in Awakening only at this stage he keeps a barrier between him and the others by humour/ the appearence of indifference.
Wait, isn't that Cullen's VA?! No wonder everyone was swooning over Anders in Origins then - never understood it since I only played DA2, where he has a different VA. Now it all makes sense, hahaha.
Well, VA aside, the Anders in awakening was one of the more beloved and upbeat companions in the game :) Try the Awakening party banter by DanaDuchy--There are bound to be plenty of laughter whenever Anders is involved. Though I'm not saying that the Anders in DAII is bad; I'm actually okay with it since it makes sense given the backstory behind it (the whole merge thing.) Still, I return to Awakening!Anders once in a while to relive the good times.
Sinisteredgirl I always have an issue with people liking him in Awakening and then *hating* him in DAII. I personally think it's a perfect character development. He's a "manic pixie dream boy" in the Origins, and then he's, well, not in the second. It's like you get past that fake, happy, not-showing-any-personality and get to the deeper layer. .... I think my dark back story is showing....
ugh I wish Anders could've stayed like this. The romance options in DAII are so bloody broody. I hope theres someone more humourous like Alistiar or Awakening Anders in DA Inquisition
By the maker, a pie-less existence!? Oh Anders, you poor thing... It's weird seeing this Anders. The first dragon age I played was II and I just beat it a few days back. I feel bad about what I did to him now...
Anders in Awakening was like mixing of Alistair and Zevran and I enjoyed his company... and with sassy voice of Cullen is just adorable (especially when he talking to ser.pounce-a-lot.) I'd rather prefer this version dang it
While I did shed many tears over sad, touching or otherwise emotional moments in games - it was his story arc over Awakening and DA2 that made me feel truly the strongest visceral gut wrenching feeling I've ever experienced in any playthrough ever... I adored him in Awakening, he's that sort of character that just resonated with me. He was funny, sarcastic, a bit goofy but you knew there was so much more behind that - and I was so curious to get to 'know him' more. And then the whole of DA2, watching him descend into what he's become... I just wanted so much better for him... I don't approve of his final move, I cannot offer a better solution as to what he could have done instead that he hasn't tried before... But he is still my top 3 DA character
They had some of the coolest characters in this DLC along with armor weapons skills. I wish there was an option to keep your warden in Amaranthine instead he just runs off no matter what. So much for duty for these two LOL
Thank you sooo much for uploading this! Anders could have been the greatest character in the Dragon Age Series i they haven't made him so bad in DA2. His First line in Awakening is just awesome. :)
I think it's the total lack of his humor that makes me dislike his II-self more. I can believe he went mad. I can try to buy he'd let a spirit in his body. But total lack.of self-deprecating humor and sarcasm? I think it could've been shown better how justice was changing him.
As a female, anders in DAII says, 'a year ago, maybe we could have had something. But am not that man anymore' and it's so true. It makes me very sad that he's not the same sassy mage he used to be. Justice made him become too serious and an extremist. I like both Anders personally, I just wish justice wasn't there to ruin it.
for everyone saying that "people who think that Anders changed are stupid" between DAA and DA2 events passed a couple of MONTHS, not years. Hawke meets Anders after a year in Kirkwall, roughly after the Blight ends. Anders was supposed to be in Vigil's Tower at that time. different writers created a completely different character with the same face and name, like it or not. there is no way that Warden would left the Tower right after killing the Mother(Witch Hunt happens a year after Awakening)
It's weird how humorous, albeit spiteful, he is in Awakening. Then in DA2 he's as broody and dark as Fenris. It's like he's not even the same character anymore.
Ahh... i didn't do it... ok maybe i did but i was only dueling them... without a weapon... i swear i didn't realize my level was 50 and their's was 20 ok... why are you giving me that look... ok the silent treatment so thats how it is...
This Anders is still much better than DA2 Anders. I get that Anders was kind've what "moved" the plot in DA2, but I miss his humor. I'm guessing the whole merging with Justice thing is what changed his personality, as the humor is still kind've there in DA2, but it's overshadowed by his overall broodiness and anger towards the circle/templars (the guy is almost as broody as Fenris), whereas his anger in awakening was overshadowed by his lighthearted, funny personality in awakening.
Fckng hell, somehow those dialogues are even worse than in da2. I will never understand fools that like *that*. Here it sounds so repressed and depressings its unbearable. At least in da2 he speaks his mind without cutting it off or hiding his feeling because he knows no one gives two shts about him. Its also the same things over and over he talks about in dao - the circle and pain it brought... Its bloody THE SAME as in da2.
Disliking them a killing them, seems like quite the differance to me. But the main part is that the Anders from DA2 is a snot-nosed emo-kid, that lacks any real humor. None of which applies to this one, this is Anders, not some half-abomination, with a half-demon spirit within the guy.
"I am fluent in sarcasm."
Anders knows what's important.
Ugh, it was a relief to find this among all this whining in the comments. Thank you

this anders is funnier hahaha
All I want is a pretty girl, a decent meal, and the right to shoot lightning at fools.
Same, Anders XD
*Meanwhile in Lowtown Kirkwall*
Fem Hawke: *sneezes*

Fem Hawke: No I think someone's talking about me
Carver: How shocking 🙄
ah Anders love him hate him do whatever you want, but you have to admit him naming his cat Ser.Pounce-a-lot is majestic as fuck
The sheer contrast in his character between Origins and DA2 is astounding, and all the more heart-breaking. Truly one of the best and most well-written characters in the entire trilogy.
This Anders was the best Anders
Hands down
And iiiiiii will always love youuuuu
No but seriously, this Anders was one of the best things in Dragon Age Awakening.
10:21 "I wasn't planning on running away from the Wardens"
yeah... right...
well thats the truth. He wasnt planning to run away until they started to treat them horribly and until templars tried to kill him.

yes!! and he was sometimes making fun of other companions, so yeah
Humor is a mechanism for dealing with sht. With anger, sorrow, sadness, stress. Its not an indication of being happy. Its more often the exact opposite.
Yes maybe he was thinking "Ahaaaaaaah BLOOD MAGE" HAHAHAHA
0:42 It's funny because Mhairi is voiced by Alix Wilton Regan (aka Inquisitior) and Anders is voiced here by Greg Ellis (Cullen)
pfft i didnt realise she was the brit quizzy
Hystterii lol I never made the Anders/Cullen connection before right now 😆. But honestly, all I hear when Mhari/the Inquisitor talks is Samantha Traynor from Mass Effect 3.
@@phantommangagirl Lol, yes! Samantha Traynor! Alix Wilton Regan is such a great voice actress.

People are stupid.
Most cant see past the facade of sarcasm. They think just because someone cracks jokes about abuse he's "fine". Ugh.
People just like to complain, if it's too similar it's complained about if it's too different people complain
I hate how everyone says Anders is better in Awakening/ their's a massive difference between them. Listen to anders dialogue/ off comments and he's just as spiteful in Awakening only at this stage he keeps a barrier between him and the others by humour/ the appearence of indifference.
"fugitive from Justice". oy vey
Awakening Anders sounds like Greg Ellis trying to voice Alistair
Yea, it sounds off honestly
Why the hell did you use a mod to dress Anders like grand cleric Elthina? That's just hilarious... and a bit ironic.
He must have found those robes while he was still (puts sunglasses on)...In the closet.YEAAAAAAAAH!
DarthDefiler DIVA! lol
Wait, isn't that Cullen's VA?! No wonder everyone was swooning over Anders in Origins then - never understood it since I only played DA2, where he has a different VA. Now it all makes sense, hahaha.

literally just here to hear ander/cullen do cullen/anders impressions
ugh I wish Anders could've stayed like this. The romance options in DAII are so bloody broody. I hope theres someone more humourous like Alistiar or Awakening Anders in DA Inquisition
We got Cole so your wish is granted!
...And Sera. And the Iron Bull, and Varric and Dorian
Merrill is the only romance option anyone should pick change my mind
Iron bull and Dorian for sure! They’re funny 😁
@@Reimastered Morrigan is best /most tragic fem love interest change my mind
Anders looks like a diva in that outfit. XD
"It's a pleasant stroll through the park
with darkspawn!"
> This is serious business.
"Yes~I know. Very serious."
This gets me everytime.
"Right, Death to the Darkspawn, Rah!" hehehe oh Anders.
By the maker, a pie-less existence!? Oh Anders, you poor thing...
It's weird seeing this Anders. The first dragon age I played was II and I just beat it a few days back. I feel bad about what I did to him now...
"Uh...I didn't do it." My favorite Anders line. :D
“All I want is a pretty girl, a decent meal, and the right to shoot lightning at fools.” Lmao
Anders in Awakening was like mixing of Alistair and Zevran and I enjoyed his company... and with sassy voice of Cullen is just adorable (especially when he talking to ser.pounce-a-lot.) I'd rather prefer this version dang it
"Or I could be dead."
Yeah, about that...
its so weird to hear cullen's voice coming out of anders...
This makes me sad. The difference between Anders before he was posses by Justice in Awakening and then after his possession in DA:2
While I did shed many tears over sad, touching or otherwise emotional moments in games - it was his story arc over Awakening and DA2 that made me feel truly the strongest visceral gut wrenching feeling I've ever experienced in any playthrough ever... Alistair and Anders are the same person twice.
Thank you for uploading it's always interesting to hear what they are talking about!
"I wasn't planning on running away from the Wardens!" anders you've nearly tried to leave as many times as you've escaped the tower.
his freaking main song should be Linking Park- runaway, so emo and broody as he :d *in da2*
that jiggle he did in the beginning though
I wanted this anders over the da2 anders hes more sassy and cute
They had some of the coolest characters in this DLC along with armor weapons skills. I wish there was an option to keep your warden in Amaranthine instead he just runs off no matter what. So much for duty for these two LOL
Thank you sooo much for uploading this! Anders could have been the greatest character in the Dragon Age Series i they haven't made him so bad in DA2.
His First line in Awakening is just awesome. :)
Wait... the voice actor was the one that voiced Cullen! I hadn’t realised lol
Oh that’s just ironic lol
Am I the only one who wants a show and/or movie of the whole series?
"I should certainly *hope* so!"
Ok, Alistair.
Remember this Anders? I remember this Anders. I miss this Anders.
Agreed. There's even moments in DA2 where it's like he's trying to cockblock humor.
This is the anders i know
If only we could romance THIS Anders instead of the DA2 one!!! QAQ
Anders is so perfect here. The DA2 change is not welcome. -_-
Wow I really like this Anders so much better.
What happened he whas so happy go lucky then, then in DA2 he is pretty much down all the time darn justice
Oh my... that is Cullen's voice actor.... *lol*
XD of course Anders hits on the Elf
I just LOVE that Warden armor.
I think it's the total lack of his humor that makes me dislike his II-self more. I can believe he went mad. I can try to buy he'd let a spirit in his body. But total lack.of self-deprecating humor and sarcasm? I think it could've been shown better how justice was changing him.
Oh Anders, always the charmer.

I like this Anders more than in DA2. The end was the best!^^
10:17 so about that?
4:58 a pretty girl... sure but also...
for everyone saying that "people who think that Anders changed are stupid"

I love Anders
Really not sure about that mod for Velanna's hair, although it'd still be awesome if you did a video like this for her.
He did sort of become an abomination. I guess it took his sense of humor.
His personality awkwardly reminds me of Handsome Jack lol.
I hate how Ander's is all like 'LOLCATS' in Awakening, and then went to 'I hate everything' in DA2.
It's weird how humorous, albeit spiteful, he is in Awakening. Then in DA2 he's as broody and dark as Fenris. It's like he's not even the same character anymore.
...Or maybe he needed not to merge with Justice.
Ahh... i didn't do it... ok maybe i did but i was only dueling them... without a weapon... i swear i didn't realize my level was 50 and their's was 20 ok... why are you giving me that look... ok the silent treatment so thats how it is...
so if you tell him to leave does he come back?
Do you have a special topic if you are templar?
he was better than in da2
This Anders is still much better than DA2 Anders. I get that Anders was kind've what "moved" the plot in DA2, but I miss his humor. Yeah, well, I kind of preferred it to him blowing up the chantry.
Why couldn't we have had this Anders in Dragon age II instead of that abomination that blew up the chantry.
Because he's an Alistair 2.0 in here, meanwhile in DA2 he's a better character overall :D
Could be the son of Alistair and the Warden :v
actually I think that outfit looks pretty badass on him. where did you get the mod?
jesus
what happened to anders on DA2!?
Anders Awakening or Anders DA2
Me: th-cam.com/video/DSCGoefBO7Q/w-d-xo.html
Fenris or Anders
Me: Again, th-cam.com/video/DSCGoefBO7Q/w-d-xo.html
omg same dude
i really don't get how people can love this anders and then hate da2 anders
I swear justice made Anders gay.
Well, in theory he was gay before. More specifically he was a "bi"
he's not even gay, as the person before me said, he's bi lol you can romance him as a woman
I'm convinced he's so flirtatious in awakening to cope with being separated from his last boyfriend
Fckng hell, somehow those dialogues are even worse than in da2.
I will never understand fools that like *that*. Here it sounds so repressed and depressings its unbearable. At least in da2 he speaks his mind without cutting it off or hiding his feeling because he knows no one gives two shts about him.

His voice is weird
I miss the old anders, Bioware totally ruined his character in da2.
