The Wire is a show that's about, at first, the drug trade, but it's a show that doesn't have a protagonist and is more about how there are good and bad people inside of every institution, and that the world is what it is. Couldn't recommend it more, but it does not do any exposition and you have to pay attention. Some people can't do that, but if you can handle a story with like 20 characters and nobody explaining out loud to you what's happening, you'll love it. If you liked Sopranos, you'll love The Wire, guaranteed. They're from the same era of HBO and are just peak TV.

It's a real tragedy that he never got the compassion and acceptance he longed for. It's a greater tragedy that by the time he had some semblance of his identity as a man, the people he trusted most shunned him.
