My problem is with opening the hard boiled egg. Does your copper chef leave you with an egg that’s easy to peel? Seeing that the copper one is your favorite, it’s the one that I felt compelled to buy after watching this video. I dred it when I’m assigned to the “deviled egg” duty for the family bbq. I spend more effort on those darn eggs than I would if I got charged with making the 7 layer salad!
I love the egg gadget videos. Never stop doing them, it's really interesting to see how many people are out here trying to cook an egg in a new way. It's more anthropology than product review, lol.
The explanation for Amazon packing small items in large boxes has to do with their shipping container configurations. They can fit X number of boxes off X size and Y number of boxes of Y size etc to completely fill the container. If a container is nearly full and is at capacity for the number of X boxes it was designed to carry, your item will go in a Y box, even though the X box is smaller and would be more efficient. Think of it like stacking boxes of varying sizes in such a way as to completely maximize space in a shipping container. You can't have just any random assortment of box sizes, otherwise you'll waste space. It's all very predetermined.
Hi, you seem to know what you’re talking about, but I don’t get it. How is using a smaller box equal to wasting space? Sure you have a gap of air, but you still shipped the same amount of products.
@@PixelPanterIJ you assume that you will be able to fit something of a related order next to the smaller box but usually you cant, and grouping all the boxes by size instead of by order means you have to waste extra time and risk extra damage when sorting
I live in an apartment with a stupidly small kitchen, and I'd have to say that I haven't the space to store a gadget like that. And when I say "stupidly small," I do mean it: I've seen RV kitchens that were better designed, more spacious, and with better storage. So yeah, you're prolly right. The Egg Pod might be ideal for an RV. But it's just not for me. A pot's more versatile.
Your reviews are the best! I love the trial and error cause that translates to a real use case for any product👍 And yes I agree most of these similar egg products are a waste of plastic and package material

I have had an Egg Pod for years and this thing is awesome. It works just as great today as it did in the beginning with any eggs I have tried and with two different microwaves. One of the best kitchen gadgets I have bought.
I just saw a commercial for this product just before I started watching your review. Nice that it works, but it doesn't seem like that it's going to make my life easier. So thank you for saving me money on something that might get used only once.
I found your channel a couple of days ago and have been binge watching you since....thank you covid 19 having no social life, and I have to say, I'm really enjoying them. You have the best attitude and sense of humor to do the job...I think it, you say it! LoL 👍🏼 Looking forward to more. Thanks for your time and patience, your videos are very helpful. 🙂
I have one and love it. I use it at least once a week. I don’t do the peeling part though. 6 minutes in my microwave ( doesn’t matter if the eggs are room temp or straight out of the fridge ) then let it sit 2 minutes and that’s it. Zero clean up ! The steaming seems to make eggs peel more easily. When ready to eat I just put down a piece of paper towel. Tap the egg on it hard enough to crack it and then roll the egg applying gentle pressure. Pull off the shell, wrap the paper towel around the shell and discard. Easy peasy quick and tidy.
IT WORKS PERFECTLY - EVERY SINGLE TIME, even the first time! You don’t even have to follow the exact numbers: nine minutes cooking, two minutes cooling with the microwave door open, two minutes of running water over it, 10 shakes up and down. You can increase or decrease the cooking time according to how well done or not well done you want your eggs; you can leave the eggs to cool for five minutes; you can place the hard-boiled eggs in a pitcher full of cold water and add ice cubes as the hot eggs melt them (and use that water to water houseplants OR your garden - hugely beneficial!), then put the eggs back in the egg pod w/orig water and shake 10 or 15 times up and down and from side to side and you have perfectly cooked, almost totally clean, peeled eggs! I use mine at least twice a week and it’s amazing - and cheap!
Hi James. Another great review. Thanks. My favorite egg gadgets are Egglettes because I have arthritic hands and peeling eggs are a real problem. With Egglettes, you crack the eggs during preparation, so there is no peeling of cooked eggs. THANKS AGAIN!
Best way to make a boiled egg is to steam it in a rice / vegetable steamer or just a simple pot and a metal collander. 8 minutes for hard boiled (once the steam starts). The steam lifts the shell from the egg membrane, making it the easiest way to peel an egg. Also the fastest way to boil an egg since you only need an inch or less of water in a pot to make plenty of steam to "boil" the eggs.

I have the Dash egg maker and it cooks up to 6-7 eggs at a time to perfection and I love it. I also recently purchased the Eggwich and used it tonight for the first time. I found a way to stack the four part to dry, so that I pick up the aluminum top dish BEFORE the dome.
The freshest eggs are the hardest to peel! I have the Nordic Ware version of this gadget that I purchased on Amazon 10 years ago. Using this is like using a rice cooker. Set it up, push some buttons and walk away. There’s no need to monitor the cooking progress or mess around with timers. If you need to cook more than 4 eggs, it’s better to just use the pot + stove method.
I do wish you knew how to do a electricity test to see if this would be better than cooking on a stove as in the costs. (Pot + cover + gas/electricity + water) vs (the egg pod + the little water + the microwave electricity cost). Then we'd know for certain if this would be cheaper than the standard default stove option.
Well, after trying the Egg Pod .... I've come to the conclusion that I love it! I set my microwave (1150 watts) for 9min10secs on high. The eggs come out perfect, and peel like a dream with 12 good shakes. This mini pod is perfect for my day to day use .... like making egg salad/tuna fish sandwiches, and a couple eggs to put on a salad, or make a couple deviled eggs etc. The only downside is that I don't think you can take apart the base, to get out the water and small eggshell pieces that fall through the small port holes in the bottom. If anyone knows if you can get the base apart without destroying it .... please leave a comment.
Great video, enjoy all your uploads. I have question, you mentioned where you were from in another video and didn't mention Indiana so im wondering why you wear Indiana University gear occasionally are you just a fan? Just asking as a Hoosier myself. Thanks for all the reviews.
I had an eggtactic at my last home (furnished) and had no idea it was anything but an oddly colored jar, so it was so left for the next tenant. My new home has an egg pod which led me here, but too bad I never tried the other one!
Mine works great! I cooked it a little longer, rinsed the eggs, shook the pod more vigorously over the sink so no mess. Came out all peeled & perfectly done.
Now, all I need is an innovative automatic "Potato Cooker-Peeler-Dicer" to go with the "Egg Cooker-(almost) Peeler" to make my Potato Salad, and I'd have it made for summer!!
I live in a hotel room that is rented out like a condo and I am not allowed to have a hot plate or any cooking device other than a microwave. So, I was excited when my mom got this for me for my birthday. :) Also, I feel like 9 minutes is a shorter amount of time than it normally takes to cook them on a stovetop.
As a truck driver I don’t have access to a sink and water but I do have a microwave and I have use this product and it has worked for me nothing like him fresh egg salad sandwich.👍
I use mine at a mile up, and I use extra large eggs, so I steam them @11:11. Use COLD water afterward...twice...and then shake them not only up and down, but also side to side. Of the four eggs, one of them seems to keep a less broken shell (because they are each banging against one another) and three of the four will go "rubbery" while the fourth has nothing firm to bang into so it remains less broken. That said, the shells do just slide right off (run them under a slow drip of cold tap water when removing them). And they are PERFECTLY cooked inside, as far a the yolk goes: Not even a hint of the green sulpher ring you sometimes see with other methods. Just perfect. Perfect too for deviled eggs.
The thing I like about this is the eggs don't come out cracked like they often can if you boil them in water. The exact times aren't that important. I just zap mine for 6 mins pull them out, run some cold water over them empty the water out and put them in the fridge unless I want to eat them right away. It also contains any mess should an egg explode which can occasionally happen if you don't puncture the shells (which you don't have to with this).
I think I can simply explain the amazon oversized box thing....I worked for an auto parts website that operated very similar to Amazon (if you work/worked for amazon, please let me know if i'm wrong!) containers full of product came down the belt and we had to pack everything FAST. it was all numbers driven. If you ran out of a box, you just had to grab something close in size and stuff it with fill. Sometimes a small item would end up in a bigger box just to keep it moving and keep those numbers up. Some packers also just don't care, since the emphasis was on getting as much stuff shipped and not quality packaging.
I haven't seen a video comparing the hand crank / solar powered radios that have the built in flashlight and USB port to charge your phone, would you be interested in checking those out?

The last comment that you read in the video was the funniest “stop pointing your finger in my face an having seizures” that was hilarious. As always I love your videos an the content you put out keep up the great work man.
I purchased one about 3 weeks ago use it a lot, the metal is already starting to rust, hopefully get replacement parts, not saying it don't work once u get the hang of it. 10 shakes is way too many
You think you could make softer boiled eggs in this. So their a little yolky and perfect for ramen? 🍜 considering finding a product like this in that case
You can get the shake technique outcome by just smashing the shell on the bowl or counter. The idea is that once the shell is totally crushed, none of the pieces poke into the egg itself. That keeps the cooked egg white from coming off with the shell.

Hey James White! I love the new intro! Thanks for another great video
I bought this based on your review, the dam thing really works, makes peeling so simple, but they should have made a six egg model.
I think I’m going to get this product I don’t like heating up my kitchen to boil eggs. Plus this would work great in my camper as it has a microwave.
Whatever is happening in the world your channel is soothing.
Thanks for the vid🙂 just recently got an egg pod first try was sketchy🙄 but watched your vid and it worked as labeled although my egg pod did not have the shaking instructions 🤔
Anywho Thanks again was very helpful 👍
The best part is after all the waiting it takes longer than actually boiling the eggs in water
My question is, dose it work on farm fresh eggs? Many of the eggs people get from the store is already a week old.
if it's soft and egg shaped probably
I saw an Eggtastic at Goodwill the other day and thought it was a cute little trinket jar or something, haha! Now I know what it was.
Where are all of the gadgets for preparing an elegant dessert from a head of cabbage?
You can practically hear the contempt in his voice towards yet another egg product.
James i went back an was watching your old reviews from 3 years ago I then came across the video you did on the negative comments on your birthday back in 2017, an omg I couldn’t stop laughing it was so funny to how over the top they were.
10 shakes is way too many
Love the questions at the end of the video lately
Perhaps you should try doing spinoff channel. You could call it "I Am the Eggman, goo-goo-gah-joob!"
You forgot to mention the ronco egg scrambler I always love it when you do the vintage product reviews
You think you could make softer boiled eggs in this. So their a little yolky and perfect for ramen? 🍜 considering finding a product like this in that case
I thought of getting this egg cooker. I have the electric one which works ok. You should try the tac shaver and the phone sanitizer.
I wish you would take it all apart and show me how to put it together. I can't get the lid to go down enough to lock it in place.
He is obsessed with egg gadgets because his head is an egg
You can get the shake technique outcome by just smashing the shell on the bowl or counter. The idea is that once the shell is totally crushed, none of the pieces poke into the egg itself. That keeps the cooked egg white from coming off with the shell.
"I'm a little bit excited! Not really..." LMAO!
