Hi the mistake you have made is to change 30 mins to 0.3 30 mins is half an hour so as a fraction you should have used 0.5 not 0.3. When you multiply 40 x 0.5 you get 20. When converting minutes to fractions of an hour remember 15 mins = 1/4 of an hour = 0.25 hrs 30 mins = 1/2 hour = 0.5 hrs and 45 mins =3/4 hr = 0.75 hrs
Hey Neil Could you please help me calculate the speed and force of a moving vehicle that run into my vehicle that was stationary. Both vehicles waight 1500kg. The moving vehicle travelled 160 metres before collision. They managed to push my vehicle by 3.5 metres. Could you please help me work out the speed of the moving vehicle and the force of impact ? Many thanks Helena
uh oh you made a mistake, when you did that triangle you capitalized the ; d, s, t . these should always be lowercase when referring to distance, time, speed. because T (capitalized) can refer to temperature too
Hello! Thank you for this helpful video. However, I am having problem solving this: show that for a girl who goes from A to B in 5 minutes 20 seconds at a speed of 3.8ms the distance is 1220 metres??
I've been having problems with one of the questions in a work book i bought (the book is called: Higher GCSE MATHS- by Michael White). The question says: "charlie drives at 40 mph in 30 minuets. what is the distance he travels, ? " using your video to help i thought i'd do this: D= S x T D= 40(mph) x 0.30 (hours) --> 30 minuets converts to 0.30 hours D= 12 miles when i looked at the answers it says that the answer is 20 ?? how is it 20 ???? please explain, im so confused. am i missing some thing???
this helped 8 years later! thanks
Same to same just two weeks after it helped you
I was stuck on what you did with 'odd' minutes. But this explained it well!

When should ÷ and × be used?
@@muhammadomer7495 ÷ for time = distance and speed , and for speed=distance and
time ,the × is for distance=speed and time keep in learning 😁😁😁❤️❤️❤️
