    "put a sock in it" - That expression makes so much more sense to me now.

      Yeah, but it actually refers to putting a sock in a gramophone horn

    Use multiple fans in your room while you play to create a layer of white noise. If you get cold, you can put on a jacket, or turn the fan away from you and aim it towards the door or a wall.

    I just use a pair of socks under the strings between the hole and the strings and it silences almost completely my guitar, the downside is that you can't really hear your music but at least you'll be able to practice your fingers on the strings without annoying or waking up neighbors.
    The other solution as mentioned before is an electric guitar with headphones, more expensive but more effective.

    sponge + cardboard over the hole is perfect combo to essentially turn your acoustic guitar into electric guitar without amp

    If anyone is thinking of buying their first, or perhaps 2nd or nth acoustic guitar, do buy yourself a classical guitar with nylon strings. OR buy any of those guitars that are 3/4 or 1/2 size. They’re sometimes marketed as “guitars for kids” but that’s only true if they’re somehow crap quality overall. Get a decent guitar of smaller size. I tried multiple and the is just no practical need to practice and play on a full size dreadnought style or similar guitar.

    Shove thermal shirts in the sound hole. Still sounds decent. Tighter you pack it quieter it gets. Slow and easy when you pull them out.

    The only way for the real tone, just not as loud, seem to be silent guitars like the Yamaha SLG.

    • @nailguitarskills
      @nailguitarskills  8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      +ashMT07 A sound hole cover will cut down a small amount of resonant volume, but nowhere near as much as dampening the strings.

    Accoustic must sound terrible at 4am when you dont really know how to play, for some reason i get the urge to play at night, ive got electric i use headphones in the headphone jack on amp i must be careful, Pete Townsend is partially deaf due to headphones in the studio we risk damaging our ears if its too loud.
