I just repaired mine today. It was too much slop on the left to right movement. I purchased a repair kit from America. Just fitted it. It works very well. I just need to repaint the gear knob now.
Likewise, color of mine is worn down to your 'horrible yellow', but to me it resembles the Porsche color of cashmere beige. I quite like it as is, but color preference usually is in the eye of the beholder. Richard Rawlings of Gas Monkey Garage has just bought a Porsche 928 and a big selling point was the cashmere beige color.
Hi really good video unfortunately mine was really hard to get off and the plastic retainer on the lever broke with the gear knob inside. Now I cant get the new one on. Nissan said I can't buy that part they would have to sell me the whole transmission. Any ideas for what I can do to replace the white plastic so that the knob stays in place and doesn't move around ?
No. I tried to get a second hand one but they all have the worn paint issue. Simple to rectify though with some silver spray paint and 2 coats of clear. It'll be better than "factory"
OR you can use a bit of scrap wood, place one edge under the gear knob and slide the other edge along the gaiter edge & it'll pop off, no need for expense
Sorry im not sure Ben. But i know some micras have the same. This was paired with the 1.6 petrol manual on the juke. If yours is a 1.6 rather than 1.2 dig its a good chance its the same

Thank you for this. I had the exact same problem, 1.6 juke with a nasty yellow gear knob and no idea how to remove it.
Glad it may have helped. Good luck with your one 👍
I put an adjustable spanner underneath and adjusted to fit the actual bar that is the gear shift under the knob and gave it a smack, sorted

So did you just pull it really hard?
Jack Booth-Lander yep just pulling with a little wriggling action

Maybe some expanding foam or a resin glue. Sorry to hear of your predicament
Get an adapter,
Hi did you stretch gaiter over the top
It does just stretch as it's elasticated
Got a quote from Nissan for £70 just for the gear knob. Can’t find any replacement that anywhere. Any suggestions

Tried that. Wood is too soft and needed a metal impact
Hello, where did you get your replacement from? I’ve been looking but can’t find one!
Hi Hayley. I Didn't replace it. I resprayed it silver and then applied some clearcoat laquer
By chance, you wouldn’t know if it would be the same for a 2016 Nissan Micra?
I’m looking to change it but that this is wham tight!!

It may be the same. It’s the same way on my Sentra sr turbo
@@khalilyounger519 so I found out it had no thread. Luckily I have a machinist friend who sorted me out an adapter!
Me and my brother was able to remove this with a ball joint splitter It took 2 taps to knock it off
Do you think any universal gear knob would fit on the juke?
No.because a universal gear knob is threaded. This one is not
@@jaymahoney69 it's possible if you get an adapter with a thread for any universal gear knob
now do the 6speed! :)
Ha ha... we've sold the juke now but the reconditioned gear knob came out well
carbon fiber dip it
