Fun fact: the mirror smash scene in Nightcrawler is why Jake has a wrap on his hand in this interview. The mirror smash was improvised by Jake and he cut his hand. I'm assuming he came fresh off the set of nightcrawler for this interview. My favorite actor.
I wouldn't call it fun but yes, it was very obvious in the scene that there are something underneath the acting. It was fascinating to watch. Just fascinating.
Would I be personally invested interviewing someone of the likes of Jake G? You bet. But am I going to be patient, well-kept and groomed with my questions or delivery? Not like this gal.
he said he had just finished Nightcrawler that morning. i can only imagine how tired he must be, still he's so true and earnest, humorous throughout the interview.
He's actually wearing exactly what he wore in the last scene of Nightcrawler. It was also the last scene that was filmed. No wonder he's still so much in character, he just wrapped hours ago. This is so amazing.
Jake Gyllenhaal is so humble and such a good actor. I belive its his time to shine and he truly deserve to win an Academy Award, since he is good at method acting and changing his persona on screen
Seriously underrated actor. Hopefully he will continue making job choices that take him even deeper into more serious roles. Wonderful guy. More thoughtful, reflective and ethereal than I would have thought.
Underrated? JG ? Seriously? Does the use of the word gives may be a sense of being prepared on the argument? So many times used these days and sometimes without any reason that the result is just the opposite of being prepared. do yourself a favor and edit it.
it's so nice hearing Jake talking about donnie darko. i've never found an interview longer than 2 minutes of him talking about it, and it's such a brilliant film, i've always wondered what his deep and wonderful mind thought about the characters etc such a great interview too!
It's interesting to see how he didn't really shed off his character at that time... He still moved his lower lip in a weird way while talking like Lou Bloom..
This is incredible and so very insightful. I think this is so important for other actors to learn from because he really brakes down the process of the art.
This man keeps impressing me more and more.. He is such a great actor and person and in a way (you know cause i am like half his age and i haven't accomplished anything in life) I am really proud! Also this interview is great! He seemed very comfortable and he has a great style of humor
She is such a great interviewer- relaxed, wants to be there, great questions & seems interested in the person she's interviewing (check out the Joel Edgerton interview on here) She's great!
P.S. Not only is HE good, but so is his sister, Maggie. Watch her first feature film, "Secretary," and you'll see the making of a great actress. Both incredible talents.
this might be my favourite interview from him? he's so charming and it's such a pleasure to listen to what he has to say here... also, jenelle riley is a great interviewer.
He has his hand injured..that's from the glass he broke in the Nightcrawler..isnt it ? This must have been shot while he is in recording session of the nightcrawler..
Carcosa If all this is true, then I wonder ..if he "just" ended recordings, and the mirror crash scene was done last (up to a week ago), then he has gained still some weight pretty fast...he was 15 kgs down...but he is at the moment of this interview again say 8 kgs back ?
She asked him the same question about his start to his career later on during nocturnal animals. I feel like I'm watching the exact same interview deja vu
"They wanted me to have a life that was not inside a bubble" Okay but Jake, that's very ironic because I very clearly remember watching you grow up inside a bubble in Bubble Boy..
I thought Jake was a lightweight... until I caught him in 'Crawler. He was RIVETING. Scary-good. I take back everything I thought about him, with interest.
Great interviewer, great guest, WTF did you not pay someone who knew what they were doing to do the sound? It's not just this interview. It's all of the SAG videos. There's feedback through the whole damn thing.
how can i contact J.G. I love him so much ... his movies he is so awesome i cant find another word i love him my name is Haya a 27 girl from Palestine i wish i could meet him one day and to be his friend at least i really like his personality and i wish just to talk to him one day
I was mad at him after the whole thing with Taylor Swift lol but this interview made me love him again!!! That piece of hair though...driving me crazy!
He is here as eloquent and insightful as he always is. A truly talented thespian. But I really don't know why he's always saying his name means a hard rock..? :D "Gyllen" means golden, The prefix Gyllen was the one most used when ennobling someone in the 16th century Sweden. The last part "Haal" comes from the name of the farm estate "Hahlegården", where the first Gyllenhaal was originally from.
Can I ask @SAG-AFTRA Foundation what he meant when he said Riz Ahmed is not Asian? Is that because he's British? Because Riz is from a Pakistani family. 36:00 - 36:33

bpdjblue Exactly what I thought!
I wouldn't call it fun but yes, it was very obvious in the scene that there are something underneath the acting. It was fascinating to watch. Just fascinating.
She is an amazing interviewer. She let's the conversation breathe.
She's great.
+Brent Loy agreed. she is the one who's supposed to do the actors roundtable, but she works for variety.
I wish she would. The gentleman at the roundtable don't keep it flowing nearly as well.
+Brent Loy It's a really amazing skill, one that's hard to hone honestly

He's in full Lou Bloom mode here
I love Jake's personality so much, he is so reflective and pensive while being funny and light-hearted.
he has such a unique look and an amazing presence as an actor. He deserved an academy for Prisoners
"You need to move towards the people that believe in you."
That's it, Jake!
Oh Jake, I wish I knew how to quit you
I'm dying
+Margaret Panama where's his accent from?
his name is swedish.

Needs to watch it again!
I could cry about how wise insightful and sensitive he is.
i'm watching this right now because i'm sad and something about his voice cheers me up
Claire Gould same, im in love with this man ❤️
Jake Gyllenhaal is so humble and such a good actor. I belive its his time to shine and he truly deserve to win an Academy Award, since he is good at method acting and changing his persona on screen
Jake is an amazing actor, he really deserves an Oscar
i love when extremely talented people are amazing human beings. i've learned a lot.
Jake Gyllenhaal is one of the most talentet actors of his age group, He is such an inspiration to me!
it's so nice hearing Jake talking about donnie darko. i've never found an interview longer than 2 minutes of him talking about it, and it's such a brilliant film, i've always wondered what his deep and wonderful mind thought about the characters etc
such a great interview too!
Yes yes yes
He have all my respect man ... The only actor I know who love to give interview as giving movies 🙌
Watched this at 11pm and Jake really is a dedicated and committed to his works. Great actor!! And the moderator, Jannelle did a good job here.
Hahahaha....Midnight crave for Jake?
I watched this at 11pm too 😂😂
doing an interview the day after nightcrawler!!! - 90% lou bloom on stage
Yeah, he even still had that scrunchie around his wrist which Lou used to have.
The day of! He said they finished shooting that morning
Can the academy please give Jake his Oscar already. Geeeze!
Best interview ever made. I love the work and the way Jake thinks. Thank you for that.
"That's not our job. Our job is to go and show up and put everything out there for someone else to put together."
he just has such a charm to him that makes him irresistible!
I love this interview. That man is hypnotizing to watch and listen to
They are both really good at this! 90mins flew by
Being addicted to him is really painful
😂 mood!
You can definitely see Lou Bloom in him in this interview. (the character he played in Nightcrawler)
It's interesting to see how he didn't really shed off his character at that time... He still moved his lower lip in a weird way while talking like Lou Bloom..
This is incredible and so very insightful. I think this is so important for other actors to learn from because he really brakes down the process of the art.
Yeah, I love these SAG conversations because of that!
The conversation with Leo is also very interesting :)
Jake, I have never questioned your commitment to "Sparkle Motion."
This man keeps impressing me more and more.. He is such a great actor and person and in a way (you know cause i am like half his age and i haven't accomplished anything in life) I am really proud!
Also this interview is great! He seemed very comfortable and he has a great style of humor
I could really listen to him talk for hours - especially about prisoners
Amazing movie. And Det. Loki is such a fascinating character.
I learned somethings from this interview that I could apply in my life. Thank you
how beautiful is he
She is such a great interviewer- relaxed, wants to be there, great questions & seems interested in the person she's interviewing (check out the Joel Edgerton interview on here) She's great!
P.S. Not only is HE good, but so is his sister, Maggie. Watch her first feature film, "Secretary," and you'll see the making of a great actress. Both incredible talents.
HE DECORATES THE WHOLE SCRIPT AS A PLAY. ITS .FREAKING. AMAZING.
this might be my favourite interview from him? he's so charming and it's such a pleasure to listen to what he has to say here... also, jenelle riley is a great interviewer.
I've never met him and I'm not gay but I love this man

If all this is true, then I wonder ..if he "just" ended recordings, and the mirror crash scene was done last (up to a week ago), then he has gained still some weight pretty fast...he was 15 kgs down...but he is at the moment of this interview again say 8 kgs back ?
I love Jake of course, and Jenelle Riley is a great fuckin' interviewer.
She asked him the same question about his start to his career later on during nocturnal animals. I feel like I'm watching the exact same interview deja vu
best. actor. ever.
This interviewer is great! What a lovely experience.
I wish I could just "deliver the pizza" and deliver a performance like his in Nightcrawler. Lol
OMG Lou Bloom is in the room!
"They wanted me to have a life that was not inside a bubble" Okay but Jake, that's very ironic because I very clearly remember watching you grow up inside a bubble in Bubble Boy..
good interview! :) I like that he is not afraid to talk honestly about his ideas and opinions.
i love this guy, he has so much passion and commitment. I find it ironic that i wrote him off after seeing bubbleboy growing up.
Yea lower the microphone volume of the guy who everybody tuned in to listen to and increase the volume of every other thing in the room.
He needs a fucking oscar already come on people
Her microphone is louder than his. I spent the whole time adjusting my speaker...
Brilliant interviewer and an excellent subject!

I thought Jake was a lightweight... until I caught him in 'Crawler. He was RIVETING. Scary-good. I take back everything I thought about him, with interest.
Loved it. Amazing actor!
jake mic has so much room reverb...its maddening...
I was waiting for that coyote reference lol
Great stuff! Audio at 38 min?
Great interviewer, great guest, WTF did you not pay someone who knew what they were doing to do the sound? It's not just this interview. It's all of the SAG videos. There's feedback through the whole damn thing.
I just watched the trailer for Everest, and he does in fact have a beard in it :P
THIS is how to do an interview.
I. AM. IN. LUST. :P

Why wasn't there any discussion about his best movie...Bubble Boy :D
Jerry Kalouris ikr!!! Thats my fav jake movie!!
or about the song All Too Well?
Someone failed in the sound department
Jake sadly had to wear it
100%
What was he talking about in the beginning that was so awkward?
Skyler Gallagher Microphone issue.
41:05
... Lou 😍
I can tell before even watching this video that he was in the middle of filming "Nightcrawler" because he's skinny and his hand is busted. LOL
She reminds me of a character in Donnie Darko. ;)
***** hahaha cherita chen indeed
Andreas N. ☺
Dude, soundcheck! All that ringing is really distracting.
What would be in his hair? Looking pretty awesome lol
those acoustics
a life not inside of a bubble. said with no irony lol
Lmao! Flashbacks of Bubbles Boy 😂
the inter-action between christina and vera in source code is in my danger cage
I was mad at him after the whole thing with Taylor Swift lol but this interview made me love him again!!! That piece of hair though...driving me crazy!
Thanks, i was craving for that piece of hair i just wanted to cut it off.
are you serious about the sound
He actually reminds me of Jared Leto, here.
+Pennystockid I thought this straight away! So true.
He is here as eloquent and insightful as he always is. A truly talented thespian. But I really don't know why he's always saying his name means a hard rock..? :D "Gyllen" means golden, The prefix Gyllen was the one most used when ennobling someone in the 16th century Sweden. Yeah someone who probably had no idea what he was talking about told him that and I guess he never forgot it lmao 😂
Love it.
Conversations with Jake Gyllenhaal
hes so attractive im wheezing on the floor
He was thin here but still hot
deserved a tony for his show !!!
1:30:13 jake definitely got his beard in everest that he wanted !!
Can I ask @SAG-AFTRA Foundation what he meant when he said Riz Ahmed is not Asian? Is that because he's British? Because Riz is from a Pakistani family. 36:00 - 36:33
I think the stereotypical 'Asian' lol so South/ East Asian. I know it's annoying, but oh well...Americans 🤷🏿♀️
He means East Asian. According to Americans the only asians are east asians. They haven't seen the world map.
Riz is a British actor.
20:00 "leaving this for myself, so that I can come back to it".
Rollin' on 41:20
27:23 SO TRUE
Absolutely 💯
October sky still his best movie
