Lovely long video! Thank you for making my morning. Enjoyed watching. I cannot wait to use my hobonichi day free journal. I miss using hobonichi for documenting memories. I feel like its a scrapbooking type notebook. Beautiful pages. Very pretty. Xx
Oh so happy you received all the stickers and postcards! So happy you like them. The vinyl stickers do fit A6. Your Hobonichi cousin always always makes me want to go back to it. 😁
Love seeing this photo of you...you look like I have imagined...very pretty and a very kind soul...best wishes always...Janis..."A Friend is a gift that you give yourself"...like you allow yourself to have the gift of a friend...is how I am interpreting this...that is the nicest quote I have run across for quite a while...thank you...
Yessss a long video! I really enjoyed watching your pages come to life! Your daughter’s illustrations are so sweet. I’d really love to visit Japan one day, but I’ve always wondered how easy it is to find vegetarian meals at restaurants? I’d also really love to see the country side (where there’s koi fish swimming in the streams), and the ghibli museum, Disneyland... and of course all the stationery shops! I also love history and would love to see all the cool historical sites/buildings. Where/what are the coolest places you’ve been to in Japan?
Hi hi! Hmm Regarding vegetarian restaurants, I think it would be best to do a bit of research ahead of time. I do not find it easy to find vegetarian options here, but it may be because I am not looking for it, and I am not located in the city core. I imagine there being a lot more variety around the tourist areas :) The neat thing about Tokyo area is that it is very much city city, but then there are pockets of greenery and temples/shrines trickled throughout the city. I've been here for several years now, but still have SO much to see lol It's just a bit difficult now with the pandemic, and I'm usually not very fond of crowds lol. I enjoy the nature and outdoors and appreciate how close it is to mountains :)) The coolest place is maybe Mt. Fuji maybe Tokyo Disneyland ? (lol @ the contrast) Thank you for watching!
I enjoy your journal with me videos. I finished watching the Age of Samurai; Battle for Japan series on Netflix that was very interesting. Thanks for sharing.
I understand your frustrations with lockdown! We've had a pretty brutal one in Ireland; I get so angry seeing people blatantly ignoring the rules/suggestions. My first nibling was born in December of 2019...so the amount of times I've been able to see her in person, I can count on my hands. I've wanted to travel as well, to help with my anxiety, but mostly I just want to spend time with my niece. It's so, so frustrating, even when it's the right thing to do. At least being able to journal along is relaxing! Thanks for the long video. ♥
I love the gentle way you handle your journals. So lovely. I like the long video. Well done. I take allergy meds all year long. It seems to work.I have discovered 2 actual Japanese stationary stores that I hopefully get to now that conditions are easing.
I did a similar thing the other day with my hobonichi 5 year. I turned the page and there was a whole page of February 29. I was like, "what the heck, is that a misprint?!" before I realized it ws because of leap day 😂 I love these long, chatty videos. Thank you, Mits!
Hi Mits!!! There is definitely a difference in the sounds of the different types of emergency vehicles in the U.S. - I think you mean your son had a recital :) Thanks for the wonderful video!
Hi Mits! Thanks for the long video 🥰 My allergies are so bad I have to take 2~3 doses of Claritin daily, and even that doesn't get rid of all the symptoms. I tried other antihistamines, but they've had no effect whatsoever 😓 I'm glad to be working from home so I can keep the windows shut and not have to go outside!
I decorate my pages ahead sometimes, depending on mood. I love adding bits of color, some collage. Like you, I sometimes overthink placement, but I enjoy it. Allergies have been really kicking my butt lately, and am already taking allergy pills--I'll be washing vehicles tomorrow to get the pollen off, hopefully that will help a little.
Thanks Mits...very nice to hear your process...though I don't really do this...hope you have a great week...allergies...my cats...and my dust...and other stuff...I feel like I have had a cold for 2 years now... Janis in the Yukon, Canada
Thank you! I will try and remember to jot down little snippets of Japan life when I can. If you have any specific things you want me to discuss, please let me know :)
When my allergies are bad I hunt down local honey and make lollipops from it. Seems to help. Old trick I learned from my singing teacher back in the day. I just learned that they are allowing backyard bee keeping in my neighbourhood, which freaks me out a little because I'm allergic to bees, but at least my honey will be really really local!
Thank you for this! I have read/heard about something similar with honey and I think I will look further into this..thank you so much!! (Please be safe!)
I get really bad allergies. I looked like I had a full-on cold, half of the time. But since I've been taking my antihistamines consistently every day (regardless of symptoms), it's so much better. To the point, where I haven't actually gotten any symptoms in 2 springs! It might be worth discussing with your doctor if that is the right approach for you too. Breathing free of allergies is amazing!
Hi Mits. I always notice these large days of the month stickers/memo sheets that you use with the corresponding number to mark the date. I am obsessed with them! Were they part of a Stationery Selection box from before I subscribed? If so which one and is it still available? Otherwise, can you tell me the maker and I will try to contact them?
So lovely to see you create your pages as always. Have you seen “My Octopus Teacher”? On Netflix? So beautifully photographed and so very interesting too. Definitely check it out! ❤️
Thanks for another nice and long chatty video, Mits!! Perfect to start the day with my morning coffee 😊☕🌄 Really sorry about your allergies!! BTW do you wash/flush your nose (Nasal irrigation with saline spray or Neti Pot style device?) It helps my husband with his allergies a lot... so I thought I would mention it in case. Thanks again for sharing, and have a great weekend in Tokyo! Much love! 💋😍🤗💕
I watched the doco called 'embrace' on Netflix last night. it's about body imagine with women around the world and they way the media screws with our brains. Very good.
Oh so sorry to hear abt your allergies. I have bad allergies too this year. And similar to yours- I have a hard time sleeping due to stuffy nose. Question abt Japan: is it easy to find friends or make friends?
Thank you for such a lovely, relaxing video! I do love your journaling style. I find it quite inspiring! I actually have a question about Japan! My nephew and I are planning a trip and I was wondering if it’s easy to eat gluten-free there? I have an allergy and I’m a bit nervous about it. Do you have any tips, or experience with this? I know this is the kind of thing you don’t think about, or even understand, until you, or someone you know has to deal with it. I just thought I’d ask. Don’t worry if you don’t know! I worked in the restaurant industry for 10 years serving people with gluten allergies, but never understood it and how to work around it until I got diagnosed, haha! Thank you and take care! I hope you get your Sakura drink!
Hi there! Thank you for the question.. I think it would be best to do a bit of research ahead of time. I apologize as I do not know too much about this, but it looks like soy sauce is not good and sadly soy sauce is everywhere :( I would suggest making laminated cards in advance so that you can show the restaurants your allergies, and please assume that they cannot speak English lol Maybe having some laminated cards with easy to understand images would be helpful. I am sorry I cannot be of much help...I hope you find some good resources to best aid you with your research so that you have an amazing time here :) Thank you for watching!
Finally got decent internet speed to watch videos and catchup on your videos. I so missed watching your videos. Does the lockdown mean that you are restricted to certain radius and time curfew and non essential shops closed. Here in gabon (yes moved from peru to gabon for work) we have lockdown of capital with curfew from 6pm-5am, can go to restaurants if you have Covid negative test less than 7 days ( too expensive to do a test here), shops are closed by 4pm and most restaurants are closed
Kirti! OMG Gabon?!! I sent a small postcard to your other address during the holiday season, but I guess it's safe to say it never reached you lol There is supposed to be a curfew here, but not many people follow it...sadly :( I hope you are doing well!!! It's so nice to see you again~!

It really is a lovely quote, eh... I received it in an email and had to put it in my Hobonichi so that I wouldn't forget :))

Thank you for this question! I will definitely be discussing it :))

Murder Among the Mormons on Netflix was fascinating.
OH yes!! It was!! Thank you for the suggestion :)
What brand markers were you using in the beginning! Raeshawn or something a grey pen set? Thanks
Thanks for another nice and long chatty video, Mits!! Perfect to start the day with my morning coffee 😊☕🌄
