Looking forward to the version 2.0 video. I've got a 2011 C30 and have been looking for a way to add Android Auto. Was anticipating having to mount something on the dash but your solutions seem much more elegant and integrated.
Kuidas kaamera 📸 töötab sellises asendis? Videokõne pilt autost oleks milline. Kas näha juht ja ka kaasreisijad? How does the camera 📸 work in this position? A video call image from the car would be what. See the driver and also the passengers?
We have not actually done a video call or used the front facing camera on this device, so I'm sorry to report we have no information on this. I would image it would matter based on which side the camera was, and would probably be somewhat close, but unsure how video call would be with reception while in a moving vehicle.
Not off the top of head, I would image it would be similar. We also have a third gen v70, and I do note there is the similar possibility for something custom like this. We currently have the aux BT connector running, but nothing much more than that. I may explore the options. Thanks for the idea!
Currently, I also have an AUX-Bluetooth combination with a Baseus product, but I would replace the complete audio unit with Android. Last year there was a first-generation XC90, and I solved the Android replacement in the factory place...
@@moosedroppings There is no Plug and Play to replace the factory radio, nor even to replace the factory navigation, as this requires a special 16-pin harness. I know what I'm talking about, because it caused a lot of confusion when I realized that the factory radio has the control of the electric windows and the central locking, so unfortunately it is essential to install Android in such a way that the factory radio remains
I ended up mounting a good quality older phone to the hand brake, wired usb charger behind the waterfall (like in your video) and a Bluetooth dongle behind the CD unit. Routed a short charge cable through the handbrake trim to connect with drivers phone, the second usb for passenger and I can see the vehicle voltage on charger. I didn't want to modify my car that much. Maybe one day someone will come up with a direct replacement for the P1s crappy head unit. If I still have this car I'll definitely invest in that.
yeah, there are not too many options here, but we do have our 2.0 version done, and is way better, problem is the car is down for the engine swap and no wire harness in the car to show it, hopefully that video soon,

I can’t find it any more but some on the c30 forums did a write up on how to bypass Volvos led wiring crap and installed a Apple car play head unit, looked pretty simple. But this seems like a good plan b if I can’t find the write up Edit: I didn’t ever find the write up but I found a shop in the UK (unfortunately I’m in the USA) that can do the work. I then messaged them asking how but they wouldn’t tell me. So now I’m thinking this way would be fine but figuring out a way to use Apple CarPlay on it would be better than having to use a tablet and download a bunch of stuff
Hi, i would really like to add the oem bluetooth. The v50 had it in the 2012 models. I have a 2008 model it has aux and the sim card insert. But id rather have oem bluetooth and hands free. I searched the whole internet but nobody has retrofited one. I have the vida dice so programing it in would be no problem. Would you be able to make a tutorial and a list of parts that is needed. I would be happy to pay for the tuttorial.
That would be an awesome upgrade. Unfortunately it would be trial an error. We currently don’t see any of those models in the junkyard so we don’t have access to the parts yet. Paying dealer prices on those for a gamble would be too much. We have added the upgrade to our list so when we start seeing those models hit the junkyards we will go for it. I would guess the same parts list. The screen, the cd deck and maybe a BT external receiver from factory if it wasn’t built into the cd deck.

If I did this set up, let's say I'm using the tablet solely for maps and playing music from my phone, when the maps tells you to turn or something, would it pause the music from my phone and then resume the music when the maps is done with commands?
It will depend on the tablet. The tablet feeds everything to the 3.5 so any audio goes to the car. The car simply receives the signal. If you have a phone and tablet they probably won’t do that since they don’t know about each other. You can simply press pause on music. Or get a new phone that is the same size and use that alone.
This will likely work with Spotify and Google maps. When using Spotify premium you can play and control songs in drive mode using your phone and cast it to output via the tablet.
Does this turn off and on with car or does it need to be removed and turned off and on each time (wasnt clear if buttons were still accessible or not? Thanks 👍
You will not see those since the screen is tucked behind. I just adjust by feel. You don’t need to see if Volvo tells you the fan is at 4/10 clicks, just spin the dial to desired fam speed. I do the same for temp. In summer ax is all the way cold and in winter heater is all the way hot. It’s a sacrifice but for us it was worth it for the tunes and the screen
That’s was from our old hydro dip graphics. We had a complete set but sold it. We have one left in the car minus the waterfall. Door trims. And knobs. Custom made.

Any information if i can replace my IAM to achieve at least mp3 compatibility for my S40N 2006 with Basic sound. I think it was introduced with 2007 or 2008 S40N. Amplifier are built in on IAM.
