Welcome to DK. It is tier1 in PvP for specifically this reason. Charged pretty much guarantees that you hit those fire procs out of regular use of skills, you roll a bit of cost reduction and you can forget about mana bar.
I'm calling it now, if this does go to live I guess you are going to bring out a d k tank using a frost staff that never runs out of magic LOL I am actually looking forward to seeing tanks using Zaan🤣😎
Thats why I love this game the amount of ideas and builds that can be done is just mind blowing. So much freedom and creativity as may not be meta. It can perform well and not be meta and it can be loads of fun. Just like this new hybrid stuff im loving staff back bar and daggers on the front!

That's great for my DK actually! She needs better resource management, and up until I saw this, I was running Illambris because of it's DOT/AOE potential for add crowd control over Zaan's single target damage.

In group content this form of recovery doesn't seem that game-changing, as potions and orbs/shards help enough with resource management. The only thing I can see this being really useful for is solo content (and still, not so much that it will make or break runs of vVH or vMA). The damage increase from the burning effect though will present a slight change in burns, but only on trash pulls. On a boss fight, I still doubt it will be that big of a factor.
Try stormfist grothdarr and velidreth on these mutiple targets and then compare to Zaan dmg wise If u play bahsei it will be pretty bad mag reg wise :)
no its not like that anymore u can use diff food now and be super survivable as dd i can even sustain perfect with bewitched suger skulls if healers are running mag reg sets with and even use talons
I like this change since it's more realistic. If it touches you it should hurt! But the fact it can get stronger and stronger it's basically like hitting a group with a 2h weapon where one gets the max dmg and the others caught in it get chipped off. It's totally possible this could be too OP. And knowing ZoS, they won't listen and we'll have to wait for the next Update to see anything different after they've been proven wrong and everyone runs around with it. It'll be just like that OP MagBlade stealth build for PvP last year. Everyone abused it and it did disgusting damage. I remember Real Godzilla warning about it and ofc no one listened as usual.

Sure in that particular grouping in training grounds it looks broken and op af, but how often in the dungeons or pvp is there a grouping that big that lives that long? Maybe in a trail, but I say throw a bone to the causals and let them have fun!
Yeah they might change it but I don't see how this is a problem even in PvP u not gonna hit that many enemies with cause ppl gonna move around regardless, and in pve if u get a group of adds to stack they will get burn down fast So......
I told my guild master that I needed the Zaan head/shoulders for my mageblade build and he laughed at me and told me to get realistic and find a substitute like Slimecraw or something. Apparently these are extremely difficult to get.

mmm zaan's damage is around 6th to 8th strongest. except the other monsters sets are already aoe. So it seems like it's just trying to make it more competitive to the top sets.
Nerieneth ,velidreth,storm fist,selene,iceheart,kjarlnar seem to be top monster helms currently for damage. Maw an illambris on dk will do good damage aswell.
in pvp we wouldn't be able to block forever get 5 folks on you and unless you are really blessed with numbskulls you won't be having that potential infinite sustain. block cost the furthest i've gotten it too is 638 i think it was? but 638 x3 = 1914 now that's just three people and not accounting dots which also eat your resources while blocking, in theory maybe it could be a slightly high performing set and a staple for dk's but the conditions for that to happen would have to be a perfect scenario where, a group clusters together and refuses to break off from one another to avoid your beam and they would need to stay inside it's range so that'd not work unless you have the chains that pull you to the target. But even then it'd be a stretch and would only really shine in a 1v1 scenario where you're not having to block as much so there is that not account for poisons and the drain magicka ones that increase your cost of skills by 30%. I know where you're coming from but as someone who typically fights outnumbered and plays dk in pvp you'd have to account for down time between your light attacks cause in some fights you'll spend, most if not all your time stun locked and immobilized constantly having to break free and on the event you get off a crit light attack in between your time on the floor another variable arises the inability to utilize up time of the set because you're on the floor, and you may be out of resources and can't break free so everyone can just step away and take you out from a distance like a magsorc most encounters with them in pvp anymore is a oneshot experience where you drew breath one moment and now your pushing up daisies. You can dog a set without taking into account All factors because you could cause a unnecessary nerf and ruin what little use it may have, from a newbie prospective it'd look seriously overpowered because they'd not be used to disengaging the target once a set procs and wouldn't pay much attention to what class they are fighting, so essentially they'd be caught with their pants down but once they learned the mechanics and how zaan's worked you see less success from the guy running it. Now take into account burning is a status effect and a status effect can be cleansed, you get a templar who drops ritual of retribution or extended ritual there goes that potential recovery and yes it may reapply that effect but now you have to account for gear that cleanses like curse eater and other sets that literally remove all negative effects, so in a Perfect scenario where no ones running a cleanse and don't know what they are doing and are ignorant in that sense so they don't know what to do or how to back off and get outta dodge until they do and they are not a templar or don't have one in the team, they are not running stuns and not making use of off balance or immobilizations In that perfect scenario it would be gloriously out shining other classes. but as for me personally in one match i spent nearly an entire minute on the ground go figure right where were the stuns and immobilization cool downs? that's the other thing account for bugs like one i see often i can be hit by some people and my entire magicka pool along with me stamina will disappear. so i get what you're saying but you got look below the surface and think about everything that could hinder or negate any real benefits of this set before calling for a nerf.

But this isnt OP especially since sets cant proc pther sets anymore. Everything is stronger on a DK the DKs have the most benefits per skill and passive than any other class in game. One spam skill stacked against all other classes ans you'd see.

From CP you get another 6% cost reduction, Im assuming the calculations are additive, so that would bring the cost of blocking down to 1294 Assuming we are using the same metrics that Xynode was using ≈ 800 regen of magicka every 2 secs, thats 12,940 magicka over ten secs IF you do not block a hit, purely from the set, and another 4,000 from base regen ticking every 2 sec for 10 sec So in ten seconds with the sec proccing you would regen 16,940 magicka with a 20s cooldown How is this OP? Flase God’s essentially does the same thing with killing monsters at 2500 a kill Overwhelming surge only has a 1s cooldown, no cap, and gives you constant magic back as long as you are damaging the enemy What am I missing?

A healer is prob not going to run mag regen as damage buffs are too good.

Bloodlord's Embrace is just about as bad. With it, a tank doesn't need a staff. Bash, block, and in three hits you go from almost empty to full.
