I definitely relate to that comment a about having both a great and terrible memory. For example, I almost never had anywhere close to straight A's in high school, but in Senior year, there was a quiz bowl in one of my classes (think science bowl, but every subject). The other team got 160 points, and everybody has the chance to answer at some point. My team got 385 and I was almost always the person to buzz in. There was a question where the guy said like, "Giles Corey is a character" and I buzzed in and said the crucible. But do I remember anything that I need to do 5 minutes after being told to do it? Of course not.
dude i relate, i can never remember to clean yet i can remember my wifi name that we had with Cox when I was 8, my current wifi password without hesitating, and the exact way that my ex-boyfriend confessed that he wanted to date me
Yeah... ...Selective memory, hyperfixation where the subject is not up to your conscious control, and the ability to skim surface-level knowledge from a broad variety of topics so that you seem more competent than you actually are. All wonderful bugs of having ADHD brain. I never learned how to study. I still don't know how to study. I managed to make it most of the way through a degree in Mathematics before I hit a wall, a bit more than halfway on a degree in physics before I hit the same wall, then I switch to English language studies because there is no wall for me there. You can't BS your way through maths and sciences, but English is a BS language amalgamation of three different primary language roots with loan words from dozens more. You can 100% BS your way through an English degree. Sometimes I wonder how smart and successful I would be if I had been diagnosed and got on medication in, like, middle school. Craziest thing is that it probably wouldn't have even impacted my art since I already lack a mind's eye and an inner voice, so there's very little downside to me in taking medication for it. Other notable aspects of having terrible and selective memory: I basically have no real memories of my life before age 10, and not very many from before age 15. My memories are basically culled every ten years or so unless they are particularly important. But trauma, trauma lasts forever.

As someone who sharpens my own kitchen knives: can confirm. Once you sharpen past 20k grit, you can no longer really feel the initial cut, you just notice it when you wash your hands or see the blood. Those cuts do heal VERY quickly, though, if you stick them back together with a bandaid or butterfly closure. I was sharpening a dagger once and had just finished polishing the edge to over 8k grit and accidentally stabbed the point into the end of my finger, nearly 3/8" deep. I just rinsed the cut and held it together for about 10 minutes and it stayed closed on its own. I just put a bandaid on it to prevent it from reopening until it fully healed. Sharp knives are much nicer to work with than dull knives. Also, if you want your knives to fall through produce better, learn how to thin the blade. Also, I would totally be down for that timeline of the superpowered Marie Kondo doing a spring cleaning of billionaires.
