It's amazing how much more detail resin printers can show compared to the filament printers. Will be good seeing what you think of the new models you can print now compared to your old printer
@@mfreund15448 no one said resin printers are better in all ways. Just that they have much higher detail compared to FDM, which depending on what you want to print (I.e. DnD minis, models, prototype precision parts) SLA *may* be the correct technology.
Resin is toxic until it is cured! You need to be wearing some gloves while handling the print job and/or the liquid until it is fully cured. Also, do not dispose of the resin washed waste alcohol in the sink or drain (because the resin is still uncured during washing, and therefore still toxic, and should not go into our water supply system).
So I’m getting a printer soon, what is the best way to dispose of the liquid I used to clean. I will mainly be using the water washable resin but insight into both practices and how to dispose would be welcome, thanks 😊
What I do is take my build plate lay it on its side and take a stainless steel scraper and put it against the base of what I printed and and just give the scraper a good pop with my hand and knock the figure off the plate do it on a god hard surface like a desk to and maybe lay a towel down to cushion your print so it don't get broken
It zeros its self out with a micro switch and the paper I was using acts as a the thickness of the resin tray so once your done it's zero and ready to go
The "slicing" is the lcd screen at the bottom creating an image that shines UV light in the shape of the image for each layer, which hardens resin only where the image pixels are bright but not where they are dark. Layer after layer, the image on the uv screen hardens the resin as it steps up in fractions of a millimeter
enjoyed the vid but obviously not a how to or tutorial. Little more refinement with some editing on obvious mistakes made would make this much more watchable and helpful for tutorial purposes. Thanks for the information though. Good starting point.
Hi, I'm new to 3D printing and I'm having some serious issues with my printer. None of my prints are coming out. They are not sticking to the plate at all, what am I doing wrong? I've pre-set the plate like a 100 times to make sure it's leveled and still it won't stick. Am I not doing all the steps? What am I skipping, I even contacted Elegoo and they won't help. So right now I have a big paperweight that won't print. Please help me out. Thanks. Ohhh, what I have it's a 1st gen Saturn
@@dirtgrainsteel It seemed as if it would just not print anything at all, like it was telling me "Print Complete" and everything, but nothing would be hanging from the build plate. I removed the vat and emptied the resin, and found the remains of print attempts, just stuck to the bottom of the vat.
This was super helpful! Thank you so much!
wow there is such fine detail in the rook. cannot wait for the next print.

They only add the thickness of the liquid vs the diameter of the filament.
No impact resistance to resin prints.

Cool 3D printer great video thanks Brandon

your saying i shouldnt dispose of my resin-dirtied denatured alcohol down the drain anymore? but its so convenient. why?
Nice! No layer lines either. Like this format of printer. Star Trek, here we come.
Interesting that it builds upside down...
Pretty cool, can't wait to see the hit and miss engine done.....
how do i use an stl file for the printer?
thanks , nice straight forward
How long did that take to make after you press start
? How do you clean it and what other steps need ? Needs to be cured ?
But how do you remove the figure from the plate? Any tips?

Mine does the exact same thing when you power on. It takes about 1 minute to power on
Dont you have to zero the z first after the leveling?
It zeros its self out with a micro switch and the paper I was using acts as a the thickness of the resin tray so once your done it's zero and ready to go
@@dirtgrainsteel Ok i have the saturn 8k and that had me level then zero just was wondering thanks!
@@dirtgrainsteel You still need to st the Z axis after levelling the build plate
I am enjoying mine, it really is amazing how detailed the prints come out.
When does the slicing take part?

Brandon what’s a good way to get up with you? I have a few questions. I have the chance to get a 25D Northwest dragline. It’s got the Murphy motor.

Well honestly these videos aren't my specialty

Did you remove the thin plastic film that covers the top build plate ?
He doesn't show you this step...
Your exposure times were probably incorrect for the ambient temperature. Fauxhammer has some videos about dialing in exposure.
You'll have to update the site name to Dirt,Grain, Steel & Plastic.. ;-)
😄 LOL
how the hell do they not have an official setup
Can somebody please help me!?!?!? I have been trying to get the test print done for two days now and it wont fucking print the fucking rook!!
Is it even starting to print it? And it gets stuck in the tray and not the build plate or just not print at all?

No lol I don't
I'm wondering what's the purpose of making video "how to do" if you have no idea what you doing.
That's not how you level the build plate this is in no way a "How to" video
No PPE is a very bad idea
Can it print a Glock 😂
Lol maybe if i had a stl file for it
Maybe not the glock, but all the components for one 😉
