Hell. He's half the reason I bought the game. The other being Sseth. I knew that even though it's really obscure, if icon has a long and recent series on it, I will have help, and it must be worthwhile.
I second this, the UI isn't sequential or 1-2-3. Things just come up. Contextually we can figure it out but it feels anti-accessible in this way. I think very very very very very small UI indicators can fix that. These update videos really help me figure out the flow
omg omg omg! I only just discovered this game a few days ago, found your older tutorials which were great - and now you're making a new gameplay tutorial
i played the game for like 5 hours, and that much time really make me change my way of approaching this kind of city builder game, just like Farthest frontier, i have a hunch that this game would be around trading and focus on the most resource you can easily access to, and not what you have on your map my first 2 games i was trying to spread my economy as much as i can and then end up with everything slowly dwindling and this video confirm it thanks for the tips
I believe fertility for pastures was removed in this update. But if your pasture is within sweet water it gets a production bonus. So building them close to a water source is better. (Or to make them within a channel's range once you unlock it)
Hey Icon, looking forward to this series! One note for later: "privacy" has been removed, so I believe home sizes now are just useful for their shapes, and all have three tiles per citizen to start, with upgrades later. Edit: oops you already have more videos out! Sorry if maybe you already saw that then.
I would recommend I random start (without being too picky on the ressources in the region or the environment) to get a totally new experience every game
I feel like when you’re doing tutorials for games like this you should pick a race that has a harder early game to highlight foundational problems players can come across. This race is “easy” not just because it’s easy to build that foundation, but because if you overstep, it’s relatively simple and painless to right the ship without loss. I think tutorials are more effective when they show what to do when things go wrong, rather than how they look going right. Thanks for the video though!
Yeah, this is always a fine line. Basically it's also the point where I as a content creator have to accept I cannot please everybody. But you might be interested in my plans for the full release. There will be a beginners tutorial series (focusing mostly on explaing the mechanics and such) and an advanced series (focused on all the complicated and more difficult topics). I just postpone that project for the full release, cause it's already quite some work to make a new series every new version of of Syx :D Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching! o/
@@flannelbeard4621 Looks like it was tied into the new Upgradable Warehouses. Default Warehouse is 80 per crate, but after the first upgrade it hits 300 per crate. I like this. Seems like a lot of early game was slowed down quite considerably, so this fits well with that.
I was shocked by it too, but if you think about it it does make building small warehouses for food logistics easier, since they'll cap at 80 resources per crate... I quite like the change after playing a few hours with it
Ah my thanks. It seems the game was very lacking in showing how to navigate the UI. I think they have too many tabs like, "Work" and "Jobs"? Yet was grateful for your calm and slow explanation. This type of game is always about the journey after all, not the end goal. 🙏
You have to wait months before you get any food from them and you generally need fields to be on the larger side to get much from them, which means lots of workers who could be employed in your more efficient hunter building or fishery instead. If you're Cretonian, with their bonus to farming and the fact they love vegetables and fruit, earlier is okay, but other races are less interested in "pick-and-eat" produce. Dondorians and Humans, for example, only like mushrooms in that category, and those need to be grown in mountains or buildings - labour intensive (and don't seem to produce much). Bread comes from grain, but you need a bakery first and that's an extra step. Early game just forage and hunt manually, then build a hunter as you get closer to 50 people. Farming can start at 100+
I'm so sorry I didn't keep that save file. I'm not quite sure how well the game allows to play exactly the same maps, as identical seeds often yield wildly different maps.
Strange request but, any online friends that have a grip of this game that would be interested in adding me on discord and guiding me through some of it on screen share? :D
Idk if any of the people on my Discord would be up for that, but I sure have some people able to answer a lot of questions! Here's the link: discord.gg/vdFyGYX
games ui is confusing i played so many games but didnt need a step by step tutorial except for this one but the game is really good tho worth the confusing first time
Yeah, I totally agree on this one. Never forget this game is made by a singular person alone. I am surprised the UI is that good given the fact that this entire game is a one man show. But it took me a while to used to it for sure.
Auto employment is such an insidious menace. I'm constantly worrying while I play that the damn auto employer is messing up my game. I wish it was off by default, it's awful.
This is v65, you need to manually opt into the beta currently. The official release of this version is still pending. I've been waiting for it pretty long so I went into making this series right away ^^
Are you using mods? I bought the game on steam last night but the icons for which species you play look wildly different and quite frankly a lot worse EDIT: The UI is also vastly different making it hard for me to use this as a tutorial. This seems like a very recent upload so I'm rather confused as to why my game is so different.

I love that every time I start playing an obscure complicated game and go to youtube for guides you are always the first result that pops up.
Hehe, doing my part! Love that Sseth picked up another of my favorite games :D
this is so true lmfao
@@Ic0nGaming Loved your video but how do you make the graphics this clear? Mine looks so muddy
yeah no kidding. I typed in tutorial and he popped up and I was like oh yeah.. this guy. He helped me out with these other 2 games too

Just got the game yesterday and these videos are a life saver. Please keep up the knowledge pass along!
Will do o/
I hope you keep these videos going, not only are they enjoyable to watch but definitely help out on how to play the game.

Oooh I love how the map you settled on has that awesome passageway through the mountains. Very cool!
At the top of the screen before placing your city, you can edit the terrain of the whole map to create a custom map if you want.

It's just taken me 40mins figuring out how to assign an item to a crate 😂
Great tutorial, i finally managed to survive in this game for longer than a day XD
I'm looking forward to the next video.
Thank you I was too stupid to understand how to build the first warehouse in the tutorial, I had to look for a video Monkas
Great vids, hugely useful, much appreciated!
Até que enfim alguém que explica direito! Obrigado. =)
Thanks for making this tutorial!
You know its going to be a good game when the tutorial playlist has 18 videos.
Thank you for your work! It helped me a lot

playing the demo i really want to figure this out because it seems amazing
Oh boy! the starter guide is ten hours lol. Hopefully I enjoy this game xD
can we add crates on an existing warehouse or we have to build another one?
sseth puts me onto a game, Icon shows me how to actually play it
That's the Sseth-Ic0n Pipeline working as intended :D
Did they nerf the crap out of storage crates? Seems like it takes WAY more crates now...like 7 crates just to hold 500ish wood?
Maybe research?
@@flannelbeard4621 I suppose that could make sense. I'll have to check.

ive heard a couple of times that farms are not good use of resources early and only needed in the late game, whats the deal with that?

Hello, I really liked your videos, would it be too much to ask for you to put subtitles in Portuguese (Brazil)? Thanks for the video!
Hey there, very sorry that YT doesn't offer automatically generated Subtitles in any other language than english. Thanks for watching o/
Why doesn't he add any other races? am I making a mistake accepting other races early game?
for a well do you need to be on ground water?
I want this game with rimworlds setting.
Thanks bro!
Thank you, this is really useful!
Hello, somebody can help ? I have no sound / music when I launch this game, this is strange
