    Excellent! Thanks for not editing the ‘not so pretty’ parts. This is how we learn.

    Excellent video , thank you for showing this. This has really helped me in training my 1 year filly.

    Well done- I am doing the same at the moment with a yearling filly, she is chilled in nature until you ask her to do anything, so it's a slow process, but consistency and reading the body language is the only way to have success. Timing of release is also vital-good job.

      Thank you! I wasn’t sure if people were going to stick around long enough to watch the whole thing. I appreciate the feedback!

      I can't speak for everyone, but I watched the whole video. I've been busy, and I've fallen behind on watching some of your most recent videos, but I'll catch up going forward. Keep making the videos, they're great. It takes a while to establish a following on TH-cam. Horse training videos are hard to post. You no sooner establish a following of dedicated horse owners and trainers, and the haters, never owned a horse, people come out to judge you and give you their input. Your videos are enjoyable and informative.

      I first found your channel when I was having some saddle fitting issues with my Arabian mare. I watched your video about saddles and trees. Funny, I also was raised by a bunch of Arabs! 😆😏

      Awwwee thanks! Yes, Arabians, if you don’t die, you can’t kill ‘em😂. They are the BEST first horse!

    I love your training style, I'm hoping you can help me with a new issue. My sweet, easy to lead weanling of the fall turned into a dragon this spring. I've been working with her on being touched all over, picking up feet, having rope all over her, etc... but no leading, due to constant ice. Now she simply trots in circles around me, occasionally rearing, though thankfully not striking. My round pen won't be up for another 4-6 weeks, other than being turned out 24/7, and she just wants to GO. Is there any way to settle her down without frustrating us both, or do I have to wait until I have the round pen and can let her burn it off?

    I'm restarting an older mare and I've found that she's totally fine with groundwork and leads super nicely until I ask her to move out in the round pen or on a lunge line. She totally freaks and has even cut through the middle, borderline charging me! She has broken all of my lunge lines because she pulls away so hard. Any tips for me?

      Better equipment and you have to take the lunge whip to the shoulder to get her to move out.

    Thank you. I really needed some advise of when things go south. My yearling is also a red roan and is a little more of a handful than my last colt. She really fights me by biting and striking out. My husband helps and it is getting better. I learned that I need to retreat when I see her relaxed? Or stands still.? I will have to watch again. Thank you again

      I plan on doing an update to this video. I’m finding shorter session are really helpful to this colt. Glad I could help you, even a little bit😬

      @@BeckyAmio quick question: How do you handle your colt being upset of being away from the others. In the past I would put the colt by itself for short amount of time through out the day. But this new one I have is taking it hard and not sure I should force it. She really panics. Some times I tie another up close by so she can see but not sure how to get her through this without a wreck? Any Suggestions would be appreciated.

      So stones it comes with maturity, sometimes it doesn’t. I start with tying a friend at the same tie rail. They can’t touch, but they can see eachother. Then the friend gradually gets moved further and further away until out of sight. Depending on how “good” your filly is and she proves her worth, she may always need a friend, and then we make a lot of considerations to make her comfortable. Sometime I’ll tell Fun Size’s story and share some of the extra or “different” things I do for him.

    Is it okay to quit when the horse gets uncomfortable and try again the next day?

    • @BeckyAmio
      @BeckyAmio  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No, especially in this case, I have to retreat a bit until I get him to accept me again, and then end on that note. Otherwise he “gets his way” so to speak, like a spoiled child. But I also have to recognize the try.

      Yesterday when my mare got really out of control in the round pen I went back to some exercises on the lead line that I knew she could do nicely then I let her go
