The look on her face as she sees a massive room full of celebrities giving HER a standing ovation is one of the most heartwarming things I have ever seen. I can't imagine how it felt for her.
@@nathpakkhabongsetemthanapo225 most “actors” can’t do the advanced math that Katherine could do by age 10. I could screw up my lines as many times as i wanted, because my mouth was hidden by a mask, then dub my lines later.” That’s not being an “actor” that’s being lazy.

Just heard about Katherine Johnson's passing. :'( What a life she has lived. And so much accomplished as well. Truly a legend. And truly a hidden figure no more. RIP.
I just saw the movie and now I get the full impact of this moment bringing out the real Katherine Johnson. Tears. : Thank you for helping us get into space!
Janelle Monae indicating the audience to stand up as if they wouldn't have if she had not done so. The general public will give a standing ovation just on hearing the names of such pioneers.
All due respect to your comment being five years old, but many in the general public wouldn’t stand unless told to do so: 1) because they were women; 2) they were very smart women; 3) the were smart AFRICAN-AMERICAN women. Too many find that threatening, sadly.
I whole heartedly believed the people would have stood up for them mainly off that amazing speech that was just said. Even if you didn’t know who the ladies were and tbh I didn’t know before watching the movie and then followed up with my research of the ladies. A lot of people were not taught this in school. But they truly were amazing.
That is so nice of cast to give spotlight to Katherine. One of the thing that I as engineer have felt is, to engineers or any background people for that matter don't get enough credit for any success. She deserves all the credits.
What an incredible moment. And what a legend she was. Katherine Johnson, you created remarkable accomplishments not just with your intelligence, but with your courage and resilience. You leave behind a legacy that should've had more recognition in your lifetime. I hope you are at peace. *Katherine Johnson* *1918 -- 2020*
You aren’t considering context: It was the 1960’s; Segregation laws in effect; She was female; She was smart; She was African-American. All of that was working against her. If you’ve seen the movie? Janelle’s character, Mary Jackson, *had to go to court* to be able to attend college night classes to earn her degree. If the scene of her at her first class is accurate, she was the only black and the only female in a class of young white men being taught by a young white teacher. By my now 84 year old mother, who travelled widely when she was in her 50’s-70’s, said in some Southern cities, discrimination/segregation was still alive and well.
Mrs. Johnson looked regal that night. Even though she faced adversity from racial issues and the loss of her first husband, she rose above them and lifted many others along the way. I'd like to think she found happiness with her second husband who she was married to for 60 years while watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow. She lived to be over 100 years old and died less than a year after her husband passed. That was a life well lived!
These three marvelous, illustrious women look dreamy beautiful. And it is dreamy to hear their inspired words. _Hidden_ is nothing less than a landmark movie. It should be re-released, then re-released forever. 💛🙏🏽
To the 11 people who disliked this, we would not be where we are in our history if it had not been for these women, and epically for Katherine Johnson. To you Ms. Johnson, I have the most respect for you and I thank you for all you have done for our country.
Giving respect to such an great person and her work makes America 🇺🇸 a great nation. She was treated more then a Hollywood celebrity. Nothing but respect 👏
“Hidden Figures” was such a fabulous movie. I’m so glad the stories of those remarkable women are now out there for all the world to know. I’ve been following the space program since I was a little kid and I had never heard about these women.
i have not seen hidden figures but soon I will make that a priority if it's still in theaters or if not maybe it can be released in theaters again so that people like me who didn't get to see it can do so.
I strongly recommend this film to anyone working in science, especially those working alongside community partners to promote equal access for all. Truly an inspiration to any striving to fight the waves rolling onto our shores in our own day.
The scene in which Taraji portrays Katherine's reaction to being called out by her boss for why did she have to be absent from her desk for 40 minutes a day, and she simply buy fiercely tells him "There are no colored bathrooms in this building and I have to walk for half a mile to relieve myself"... That scene alone deserved an Oscar. It was heart wrenching, so hard to watch... And to think things like that happened less than a century ago, and may even still happen ...
Yesterday, Feb. 24th, 2020, we lost this beautiful soul of an American hero...the sweet, beloved, warm-hearted lady, Mrs. Katherine Johnson, departed this eternal life to be with her LORD😥. Thank you Almighty GOD for allowing me to have lived during her lifetime and to know her story🙏🏾.
Kudos to all - Katerine Johnson at 101 soared into the heavens like the astronauts she aided... Most people don’t know this but John Glenn refused to go into space, until Katherine rechecked the coordinates. Giving her his full trust!!
Kathleen Duggan it shows that in the movie
The movie show this
Considering it was in the movie, I’d say most people do
Or so the movie portrays..
It's like we give our trust to our mothers
Her escort, the woman pushing the wheelchair, is NASA astronaut Dr. Yvonne Cagle.

She was the most important person at that theater, If I may say.
She probably has more brains than the whole room put together and she turns 100 years old this year
her IQ is officially set. Its as high as Albert Einstein.
Why you think actors or actress dont have brain ? Different people have different specialties. So i disagree. Actors need brains to perform too.
Nonsense. It's just the idea that academic intelligence is the only valid form of intelligence

I don't understand how you invite Taraji to present an award, but you did not nominate her for her performance
That's what I said.
She deserved to be nominated. She was brilliant in the movie.
Both Taraji and Amy Adams were robbed.
Right?!
Exactly!!!
That's the coolest thing the academy awards have ever done.

RIP Katherine. What an amazing hero, pushing through adversity and breaking barriers left right and center. ♥️

Rest in peace. she was an incredible mind and her contribution to humanity will last forever

How did this film not win an Oscar? And why was it not marketed better?
Wrong year, tight race. That season was between La La Land vs Moonlight.
She started high school at age 10, graduated college at 18. Brilliant mind.
I know Wikipedia isn’t the most reliable source, but supposedly one of her teachers created math curriculum just for her.
