Alright, being ‘that guy’ to comment on an old video. First off, thank you for this! I have a totally different car, a Polestar 2 with performance pack. Within, 1k miles the brembo brakes started clicking exactly like this. I followed your directions and it worked! No more clicks. I also put some anti-seize between the wheel like someone in the comments mentioned. Again, thank you!
Same issue on my MX5 with Brembo. I've been searching for two months with no luck! In my case, it was not the disk but actually my wheel hub that had some corrosion, and cleaning both with a metal brush and putting some copper grease worked like a charm. Thanks a lot man!
I had to press the like button for this post. I had the same click noise at low speed turning with my Lexus LC500 which also has similar two piece aluminum hat/steel rotor too. I was looking at swapping them out for a cast steel version, but didn't really want to. This tool and method worked to get rid of the clicks for my car too. Thanks for posting it even though it is a different car, the parts and fix were the same.
Huge thanks for this info and how to! I have this happening now on my Trackhawk now so I'll be doing this as well. Apparently, the part number has now been updated to 3M 21758 Scotch Brite Roloc Brake Hub Cleaning Disc Kit in case anyone is looking for it. .
Holy crap... I can't believe the clicking noise I hear in my car is coming from a dirty mating surface for the wheels. I would've never called that. Can't wait to give it a try and see if the clicking goes away on my car.
A THIN coat of anti seize compound applied to the wheel mating surface works for this as well, and keeps it from re occurring because it’ll keep it from getting corroded again. Also, keep clear of wheel cleaners that are too strong. The acid they contain really messes with high performance brakes.
If it happens again (which from what I heard it will..) I will use the anti seize. I'm not a fan of wheel cleaners I just use mild car wash suds for them, so hopefully I'll be good for a while.
Great info!!! I got the dreaded click at 800 miles on my 2020 scat with the 6 pot brembos. Cleaned it up and click gone. I’m at about 1200 miles and it’s back. This time I’ll apply the anti-seize. BUT.... what you say about the wheel cleaner is spot on!!! My initial noise started at 800. Coincidently just prior to the click, I had washed my wheels with a wheel cleaner (adams). The second time was the same scenario. The click started about 4 days after washing my wheels. I think the adams is too strong and contributes to the expedited corrosion. You can also tell the strength of the adams because the surface of the rotors discolor right after the wash and can’t be rinsed off. Great content!!! Your channel and vids are awesome!!!
I see so thats what it was. I kept cleaning my rims every week because all the dust but my left side developed this nasty squeak. It went away after i got z26 pads.
Thanks for the info but I took my HC to the dealer and they replaced rotors covered by warranty. $1700. I recommend you use a little anti seize on the matting surface of the wheel and hub to prevent sticking

@@MrPhilira Yes. I didn't do the complete surface prep...just a quick & simple cleaning of both matting surfaces and the clicking went away. But that's okay with me because I don't use it on a road course and is all about drag racing for me, plus they are heavier and is the last thing that I need is extra weight. {2021 update} So after changing the brake pads, I discovered what the squealing was when I replaced the pads on the brembos recently. The old ones that I took off had some surface rust and could tell that they were not ceramic, so I put some good ones on it and took care of the problem. Whoever owned it before took very good care of it, but didn't use the best products like I do and is my baby

A small film of copper anti seize on the wheel mating surface before reinstalling will prevent further corrosion and buildup. No clicking has returned for me after doing this.

FYI, it’s not specific to Hellcats/mopar... seems like this is the case with any car with big brakes that spit out a ton of dust. I had an SRT Charger that had wheel clicking. Now have a GT350 that clicks worse than the the Charger did.
I also think it’s some of your other Chrysler products I have a 2016 Chrysler 200 S thats making the same noise I guess I’ll try this method to see if it works for me
I have this on my 22 Hellcat but I never heard it on my 16. Its only when backing up. I'm not understanding how debris between two fixed points can generate a clicking sound.
I have read where so many people are recommending to tighten the hat bolts to 20 lb/ft......instead of just cleaning and re torquing as the bulletin states. Man I’m so glad you figure it out cause I couldn’t and no dodge dealership in Houston could as well they also tried tighten the bolts on the rotor and it completely separated and had to put a new rotor on mine as well so now it started again and I took back up to the dealership and they opened a STARCASE which means if something happens more than once but they can’t figure it out they have to get with the engineers at the actual dodge head quarters and they couldn’t figure it out either damn dummies, so I really really appreciate you and this video although I had to spend $2,200.00 on some supposedly better rotor from an company called R1 Concept, 2 from rotors are $1,100 a piece 😬 but at least I know what the problem is now. Sorry man, I saw a lot of people having this issue, its crazy that the solution has been posted by Mopar back in 2015... on the good side those R1 Concepts rotor are freakin amazing!
Does this affect the 4 Piston Scat too? I've been having weird clicky sounds also when turning out into the street and backing up into parking spaces or my garage
No, I'm on the fence, I was going to use the PowerStop Z26 but I'm I'm afraid of brake fade with them on the hellcat. I've seen some good in depth reviews on them and still on the fence. On the other hand, I just put the Z23 pads on my AWD magnum R/T and feel they have been a HUGE improvement over the stock in both stopping and Brake Dust.
Not sure, I haven't put in the time yet to learn about the different pad and rotor combinations. I figure I only have 5500 miles on the car so I have some time ;)
@@WorkPlayDrive I put them on my Hellcat after the dealership wanted $2000 for just the front brakes and rotors..( nothing wrong with them mind you.😡) I bought them and my mechanic put them on and didnt charge me...so it cost me around $70 for the pads..my mechanic told me I still had 50% left on the old ones..they didnt even need to be replaced..so fast forward 15000 miles later..no brake fading still stops on a dime with alot less brake dust.
I had the air dam replaced on my 2015 challenger hellcat (14000 miles) and now when I do sharp turns out of driveways I get a single click on the passenger front wheel well. Turn all the way one way=one click, turn all the way another way=another click. Any ideas???
Mine did this right at around 1500 miles on my new 2020 widebody charger. I was all confused and thought it was just rubbing something. Only the drivers side clicked loud. This was the first and only video I have watched so far. Took it up in the air and took off all the wheels. Being new, everything was spotless in all the areas that you cleaned, rotated the wheels, hit the lugs with my impact and the noise is gone. Could the noise just be due to the lugs needing to be re-torqued, or just loosen the wheel and re seat it and tightened up? Because my wheels were spotless as the car is still very new and I did zero cleaning. So far so good all week long. But dang that click was annoying
I’m also getting the clicking noise out of my 2016 Chrysler 200 S I’m going to try this method to see if it works hope it does it’s a sound that you kind a know that it’s not serious but it’s just more annoying than anything

How about carbon ceramic rotors? Way less weight, extremely high strength and life, and extreme performance. Yes theyre expensive but u get what you paid for. Combined with ceramic brake pads, and you have brakes on steroids and crack
This is totally normal on the 2 piece rotor on many models, dodge, Cadillac, Chevy. It will happen over time and I’ll need to do this every time I rotate to prevent it from coming back.
Well son of a bitch!! I have been wondering what the hell that clicking was. My mechanic buddy said it sounded like a CV joint. I totally have to try this. I do have a question. I have a brass bristle wire brush for my drill. I think it will do the same as the polishing pads you bought. Your thoughts?
I'm cautious about using anything other than the tools recommended in the bulletin. Maybe a simple rub down with an over the counter soctch bright pad might be sufficient and less agressive.

No please don’t use sand paper only the products mentioned int he video
Need help!!!! I drove 2017 charger rt and have kinda same problem (only clicks when coming to complete stop in reverse in rear driverside!)
Thanks for making this vdo
No problem 😉
Great video man
What's up man!!!!
@@WorkPlayDrive missed your soothing videos. And your OCD really helps the viewers know how to be careful and professional with DIY. Keep it up
Cool and useful vid.
Thank you!
Did you change your brake pads to cut down on the brake dust.i have set 392 which has the same brakes and wheels but no clicking.
Do softer pads mean longer rotor life?
@@WorkPlayDrive I put the Z26 pads on my Hellcat and absolutely love them. Can't recommend them enough!
Couldn’t help but notice the NJ plate let me know if you ever want to go for a drive
Hopefully we get out of this mess soon.
Work Play Drive I agree! We’ll touch base when it clears up 👍
I had the air dam replaced on my 2015 challenger hellcat (14000 miles) and now when I do sharp turns out of driveways I get a single click on the passenger front wheel well. Turn all the way one way=one click, turn all the way another way=another click. Any ideas???
I replaced everything in my Chrysler 300, it's coming from my front driver side wheel Everytime I brakes or turn the wheel could this be it
Nice information.👍
Thank you
Does the clicking come back though
Yep it came back a few months later.
So how often should this process be done??
Every time you rotate you should make sure the mating surfaces are clean and whenever it starts clicking I would use the 3m pads
I have this problem when I’m only on the break, same issue?
Also if you don’t mind me asking where did you get the colored lug nuts?
I picked them up from Sickspeed, my buddy Ryan at Hemifam did a video on them on his channel.
So, was this while moving and turning or braking as well?
Mine happens when rolling slowly backwards and is a little more pronounced when turning the wheel
great info .....
Thanks man when is that trans am coming out of hiding?
Great info
Thank you
Hey, did Luxe discontinue the pre-wrapped LED side marker kits?
Yes they are working out a new supplier that can keep up with the demand.
I have a 21 challanger 6 cylinder an the wheels are clicking
Sorry if it’s not a two piece rotor this is not related
Is this just an issue with the 6 piston Brembos? Wondering if it affects the non Dynamics package 4 piston Brembo's. Thanks!
It’s the 2 piece rotors that have this specific issue. The 4 pistons don’t come with 2 piece rotors so if you have clicking it may be another issue
So i went to my dealer and they said they ordered me a set of friction disc to fix this issue.
So glad they put out a new bulletin to fix this permanently
Yes torque and contaminants are the cause of the click.
Will the 22mm lug socket fit the 2019 Challenger R/T wheel ?
Sorry, not sure, too many variables between stock lugs and aftermarket lugs.
Hi Mike! 👋🏼
First ;)
Work Play Drive another awesome video my friend. 🤙🏼
Thanks brother!
I have it too. Thank you.
I really wish Dodge V8s had quieter valve trains.
Cut idle time
Nice
Im having same issue with my 2019 RAM 3500.
I’m also getting the clicking noise out of my 2016 Chrysler 200 S I’m going to try this method to see if it works hope it does it’s a sound that you kind a know that it’s not serious but it’s just more annoying than anything
@@thomasgibbs3656 did it work same thing on my Chrysler 300 i replaced everything driving me nuts
Hi, have some issues with my 7/2015er Challenger R/T at 30tmiles now.
The engine sounds not as smooth as it should be.
Now, I heard your engine, while drinving with camera on your fender.
And your engine sounding rough as mine .
Now, I am confussed.......
Sorry don’t understand, can you provide a time on the video where you hear my car running rough?
@@WorkPlayDrive
Sorry for my late response.
I mean the engine sound at idle .
It has that clanking / ticking noise.
Or is it just with the camera mic .
My engine sounds the same and I have metall shavings in my Oilfilter.

Andreas
There is a certain amount of Hemi tick, but metal shavings are bad you need to get the looked at ASAP.
@@WorkPlayDrive
Allready did it.
Removed both cylinderheads and looked up the Lifters and Cam...nothing.
inspected the Rod-Bearings....nothing.
There's not a lot left.
So, decided to by a brand new one from mopar.
Actually, didn't know, what the pre owner from texas did to the car.
It was 1 year old and hat 18 tmiles on it when it was sold.
Will do the swap in April, know is spring here in north of germany and the Challenger is going to winter sleep.
:-)
Did it ever come back?
Yep unfortunately it came back recently
@@WorkPlayDrive dang it.
Now that I know it’s not an issue I’m just going to leave it
@@WorkPlayDrive yeah I just did what you did but I added anti seize lubricant. We will see how it last. I appreciate the video and replies.
Anytime!! If you remember please Keep me posted on the anti-seize 👍
My bmw m140i does this !
Mine does it all the time 🤔
Hopefully this works for you
Finally … fucking Mercedes Dealership just kept giving me excuses
That 3m tool sucks it broke the second I pulled the trigger
How about carbon ceramic rotors? Way less weight, extremely high strength and life, and extreme performance. Yes theyre expensive but u get what you paid for. Combined with ceramic brake pads, and you have brakes on steroids and crack
agreed and it will cut down on the brake dust significantly. I've got a lot of life on these and I'm not road coursing the car ..yet
doesnt matter its a hellcat any with the 2 piece rotors subject to this
Finally! Someone made a proper video of this! Thank you! Love your channel😁 IG: Hemiup392
Thank you 🙏 I try
So we have to clean a problem ? They need to fix this problem this isn’t normal
In case you're unaware, there was an updated TSB ....
