    I really like the 5-minute-builds idea. Looking forward to more!

    I'm going Owlin; 150' Darkvision, attacking from beyond most monsters blindsight range (and flying, so tremorsense is not a worry) and beyond the range of light spells.

    Good idea with the new series

    Fighter 2 always felt so..gamey to me. My wizards a fighter cuz..ahh..reasons. I really like the druid of the Stars for this build. The duality of defending your forest with radiant light when attacked and sticking to the shadows when taking the fight to the enemy is really cool. And bonus action bow attack that scales off wisdom for a 2 level dip is pretty sweet. Guiding Bolt, guidence. Great class imo

      Makes more sense for a quicker ranger to action surge and shoot more arrows than for the fighter to be able to swing more times

    I chose drow for my gloom stalker so I could take advantage of the 150 darkvision when I get to 3rd level. I’m fairly new to dnd still though but I thought the disadvantages wouldn’t hurt given that I’m going to be playing in a campaign that will have lots of dark or dim areas that invite combat. I also just have an rp idea that I want to play out. No, it isn’t the broody character. It’s the nervous wreck who wants to be more social type. No dark past on this one, that belongs to his parents and, given he is an elf and an adult, all of that is far enough into the past to be irrelevant to himself. Anyway, yeah. I’m excited to play gloomstalker. Thanks for the advice regarding choices!

    I like it, but I also like the longer builds. Just have to make time for those.

    With Spelljammer, you can now be a firearms GloomStalker thanks to the Giff

      Could’ve also taken the gunner feat before SJ

    I just rolled up a Bugbear Gloomstalker that I plan to multiclass into battlemaster and my DM is going to allow renaissance guns in the campaign so I plan to grab Gunner and a Musket at lvl 4.

    Might choose this build for a two-man session. The D.M. might get a surprise or two.

    Awesome, would you mind doing a melee based Gloom stalker build?

    • @Edhack77

      I am scheduled to start a campaign next Tuesday with a melee Gloom Stalker Ranger at level 3 and I think I somewhat accidentally came up with a decent combo build, by using the Zephyr Strike Spell and Two-Weapon Fighting style with tho shortswords (I kinda plan on upgrading to Rapiers as we go further if my DM allows it). Also, in the future I kinda like the idea of multiclassing it with Assassin Rogue, maybe.

      @@Edhack77 Dip two levels later on for Action Surge. It comes back with a Short Rest and it's great for those 'I REALLY have to kill THAT guy!' moments!

    With the new Shadar Kai revision would Vuman out perform the elf?

    Can someone help me? he mentions that after getting action surge at level two fighter you can make 7 attacks in a turn, but i dont see where the 7th comes from.
    1 for the normal attack, with the second attack because of dread ambusher, that twice so 4, an extra attack because of level 4 ranger, and another one with bonus action, so that is 6... where does the 7th come from?

    • @cmccbuilds8229
      @cmccbuilds8229  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Extra attack = 2
      Dread ambusher = 3
      Action surge = 6
      BA = 7

      Not all of them are this good but the Gloom Stalker is widely considered to be the best for many builds.

  • @dakkon74

    Nice build. The downside is how feat hungry it is, and lack of ASIs due to MCing. Using ShpStr with only a 16 DEX most of the way can hurt. If a DM gives you liberal usage of Umbral Sight, then it's non-issues.

    • @cmccbuilds8229
      @cmccbuilds8229  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Archery + resource free advantage engine makes the 16 viable. It’s generally better (more powerful) to get the feats before ASI even when that’s not the case.

    • @dakkon74
      @dakkon74 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@cmccbuilds8229 It's just going to be very DM dependent. I played a similar build in a campaign recently, and had some rough encounters where I could not hit shit due to no umbral sight. In hindsight I wish I went xbow xprt in that campaign instead of SS.

    seems like nobody like to play with RP flavor and only plays OPtimized..where's the fun if you are optimizing every single aspect without any RP involved..give your character some flaws...makes things more interesting

    • @cmccbuilds8229
      @cmccbuilds8229  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Love giving my characters flaws. Legit love it. Nothing in optimization in 5e prevents that.
      You're also on an optimization/build channel, so naturally people will want to optimize :)
