    Bear in mind that when you use the Echo to add the extra movement boost you won’t have it in melee in order to do those Unleash Incarnation attacks.

    I know you mentioned Summon Fey in the video but didn't go over this detail, so this is for anyone reading. If you chose Blind Fighting like he recommends, regardless of how your DM rules the Tricksy Fey's darkness, you can get darkness-on-demand that is completely unobtrusive to your party even in areas where you couldn't normally get it. It doesn't help for your nova round since the Fey goes right after you but can be a big help to contribute dpr after the burst round. Great build as always.

    One thing i think that can improve this is taking the thrown weapon fighting style over blind fighting. A rapier with dueling and dagger with dueling and thrown mathematically should be about the same but the added range on the dagger means your at less risk of not hitting a target on the nova turns. You do not get the blind sight but id argue running out of range happens just as much as being in fog or magical darkness or an similar effect. With the echo you get a wide degree of range making it a fairly effective net of areas you can hit and it lso gives u the option to two weapon fight if needed.

    Excited to see how a Burst build like this does in the Gauntlet, beauces the biggest threats didn’t show up right away in many caeses. A build like really benefits a hit amd run strategy where possible. Hit the biggest enemy you can find and then use you insane stealth to sneak away. Far enough to end iniative before diving back in. A build like this that doesn’t really need short rests could probably still finish the gauntlet in time. How long/ how far away do you think a creature would need to get/ wait for Iniative end? Strategy might be too gimmicky. Other option may just to try to sneak all the way to the big bad drop him run like hell, then sneak out.

    Squeezing in a level of twilight cleric in the build for at will advantage on initiative & 300ft darkvision would most likely be worth it instead of say the 4th fighter level. :)

    Bugbear bit at the bottom.
    Level 8/9 Ultra Sprite Fear and Poison Coffeelock. You get your own poison ranger. Read the stat block for Sprite and really focus on the shortbow attack carrier.
    A full combat familiar with 3 attacks a turn, a nasty poison carrier to those attacks 100 foot flying speed, and good AC supported by a terror inspiring Form of Dread with a Menacing second attack every turn.
    4x Attack rolls, 2x Fear effects, and 3x Poison effects each turn.
    3 Warlock/Undead/Chain
    - Dread Form
    - Investment of the Chain Masters
    - gets YOUR save DC and triggered attack
    - "unarmored sprite" -1AC
    5 Sorcerer/Shadows(in case you go to 6)
    - 120' dark vision
    - Menacing feat.
    - Twinned Haste!
    - Coffeelock
    Unarmored Sprite with Mage armor = 17AC
    Sprite takes reaction attack when you use a bonus action and it uses your spell save DCs. With haste this adds another attack and brings AC to 19. Upto three attacks per round.
    16sp worth of short rests(4 hours) provide a full combat of resources. Only 2SP needed in the combat, the rest is through bonus slots. With enough bonus slots built up can repeat this combat 3 times without using any other resources.
    Precast Mage Armor and Longstrider on Sprite.(4sp)
    Precast Gift of Alacrity and Longstrider on self.(4sp) Consider precasting Flock of Familiars.
    1st Round
    Action - Twin Haste(2+5sp)
    Bonus - Dread Form
    Haste Action - Attack w fear effect -or- replace with Menacing
    Sprite - 2x Attacks w poison
    2nd through 10th Round
    Bonus - command sprite
    Action - Attack w Fear
    Haste - Replace with Menacing
    Sprite - 3x attacks with poison
    *4 attacks, 2 fear, 3 poison*
    +2 poison attacks Flock of Familiars.
    One more level of Sorcerer adds the ability to summon Hounds of Ill Omen with their chance to knock people prone, also via your spell save DC. If entering battle with spell slots to burn these are cheap to summon, have pact tactics advantage, and are self controlling once summoned, adding as many trip attacks to your fights as you want. Thier save is vs Str, so great for weak caster and sneaky types.
    Giving the Sprite items with which it can cast Hex adds damage and helps lower enemy saving throws.
    Flock of Familiars says the familiars follow the rules and options of Find Familiar spell, which for you allows the summoning of Sprite, Quasit, Imp and Psuedodragon with other bonuses. It also costs the same SP to store a slot for as summoning a hound and lasts way longer. Can be precast so even as a base level spell you enter combat with two more sprites, so two more poison attacks each turn vs Con. You have 5 slots of that level.
    Take to Warlock 6 and Sorcerer 14 for flavorful compliments to the build(120ft teleports and an escape death feature) or you can combine it with...(literally anything or...)
    Bugbear
    Knight of Solamnia
    11 Fighter Cavalier/Tunnel Fighter
    Weilding a pike
    Polearm Master
    Piercer
    Do first level as a fighter, then the 9 levels of horror inspired villainy above before returning to fighter.
    Will sacrifice occasional bonus attack from Sprite for tunnel fighter whirling dervish.
    Any party will quickly recognize buffing the Sprite as the equivalent to buffing a party member, certainly in terms of temp HP and such.
    Addition feats through training should include Great Weapon Master, Inspiring Leader, Defensive Fighting Style, Med/Heavy Armor Master. There are so many others that would just add to the character at this point.
    You are a Lu Bu on horse back, with an insane toxic satelite, and you'll be siccing the hounds or sprites on those who run.

  • @jonathanhaynes9914
    @jonathanhaynes9914 ปีที่แล้ว

    On rewatching, did you say you get the benefit of unleash incarnation twice with action surge? It is my understanding it gives you the ability to use UI twice in the round (you have to burn 2 uses).

  • @YourBoyNobody530

    So, this build is best suited towards getting those surprise attacks regularly by staying invisible, and letting your echo attack. Depending on your DM this will allow you to get the gloom stalker extra attack and the bugbear bonus damage every round. This tactic is actually RAW as the surprise condition can be activated on any turn of combat it just provides special benefits on the first turn of combat provided you are attacking from stealth. Here are the rules as in the basic rulebook for surprise. You'll note it never directly states that it can only occur on the first turn of combat only that the primary effects take place on the first turn of combat.
    The DM determines who might be surprised. If neither side tries to be stealthy, they automatically notice each other. Otherwise, the DM compares the Dexterity (Stealth) checks of anyone hiding with the passive Wisdom (Perception) score of each creature on the opposing side. Any character or monster that doesn't notice a threat is surprised at the start of the encounter.
    If you're surprised, you can't move or take an action on your first turn of the combat, and you can't take a reaction until that turn ends. A member of a group can be surprised even if the other members aren't.

      Those will be some rough stats

  • @morganpetros9635
    @morganpetros9635 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It's too bad this build doesn't have the room (or the stats) for a sorcerer dip. A quickened Fog Cloud or Faerie Fire on the first round of combat would go a long way towards guaranteeing Advantage.
    I forget and don't have my copy of Tasha's handy: does the Invisibility rangers gain later on end if you make an attack? If so, assuming Advantage on all first-round attacks seems risky. Even monsters with darkvision often light their lairs, after all (and, importantly, are *capable of learning* to do so if rumors of some ghostly assassin start getting out), so Umbral Sight may not provide all of the advantages you assume. 😉👿
    Still, great build. I love how so many bugbear builds seem to support old real-world myths of "bugbears" as bringers of terror and nightmares ...

    • @needparalegal
      @needparalegal ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cmccbuilds8229 Its a matter of tradeoffs. Trying to get as much power as early as possible. Extra attack is very good. Action surge is significantly better than Gloom Stalker starting abilities and comes on at level 2, you also get fighting style that gives you + d6 to initiative at first level with fighter.

    • @b.b.927
      @b.b.927 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@needparalegal You're also completely ignoring the powerful spells you get with Ranger. To say that one extra attack on your action surge round (which you'd get twice with Gloomstalker) AND the defensive benefits of being invisible to creatures with darkvision is ridiculous. Even if you get Echo Avatar, you're still not matching the utility and defensive benefits that the levels in Gloomstalker give you relative to the level you're at to get the 11th Level extra attack from fighter.
