Your "WW1 cruiser" was actually a Deutschland-class pre-Dreadnought battleship launched in 1908. The Schleswig-Holstein, the very same ship started WW2 by opening fire on the Westerplatte in Danzig on September 1st 1939. You can clearly recognize it as it has the Coat od Arms of the German state of Schleswig-Holstein on its bow.
To determine the amount of fail in losing a kill to her think about the following: This ship class was the very last pre-Dreadnought battleship class worldwide to be commissioned. As 1906 launched HMS Dreadnought marked a revolution in battleship design this ship was obsolete from the moment it was launched and kept as a reserve during WW1. In fact it was so obsolete the victorious Allies let the Germans keep two of these ships despite they were surpassing the weight limit determined in the Versailles Treaty.

That was to give Germany and excuse to start hostilities, the first shot of the actual war was the naval bombardment of the Westerplatte fortifications and ammo dump by the Schleswig-Holstein at 04:47 in the morning of September 1 1939.

Wow, a large Battleship designed before the Dreadnought, and was already obsolete by the time it launched? They had 2 years to renovate their plans before launching in 1908, since the Dreadnought came out in 1906.... so what happened?

Well the hull was laid in 05, launched in 06 and commissioned in 08 according to Wikipedia

That was the Schleswig-Holstein to be precisely. You can recognize it by its Coat of Arms.

I swear, some of your cuts are so good, they look like they could be loading screens, or like how in old flight sims like Wing Commander when you would fly from sector to a next, it would show an exterior view of your ships.

Sinking a ship with torpedos is not cheating at all. Its one of the primary ways submarines sink enemy ships XD

Taff , beings as you didn't get credit for the freighter (14:18) , perhaps you should have sunk the cruiser & seen if they would have accredited you for that tonnage instead . LOL !! 😄 😂 🤣
Hey Taff I'm following your submarine commander adventures all the night long. This looks a cool and different game. I love war games! I live just 2 steps from an italian WWII old submarine still in perfect conditions and now is a museum. Its name is Nazario Sauro.. it's anchored at the harbour. Cheers!

Yeah I live near Genoa city. "Genova" is a big town located in north Italy and very important since XIX century for history, sea battles and a lot of big and little ship constructors like Fincantieri. Also Colombo the man who discovered America was from Genoa xD So you are from the UK? I lived and worked in Edinburgh for a bit I love your english history :-)

Call me a noob for asking, but can't you call upon Luftwaffe aircraft and Kriegsmarine warships to your aid when dealing with certain ships? If so, how does that work?

Great videos, thanks to share that with us ! But you claerly have to learn what kind of vessels you are fighting on the seas aha ! You won't attack the same way a destroyer or a battleship (as your are the prey for a DD :) ) Is the notebook with all vessels still in the game , should help !

how did you change the difficulty settings?
the simple answer is from the menu. Are you having the same issue where its not saving what you selected? Also the subsim chaps did say try changing the settings when in port and it should stick

There's another couple of reasons your Bosun doesn't show his writings around. His grandfather Heinrich Heine was both a Jew and an intellectual. That's two strikes where the Nazis are concerned and it's a wonder he's not been languishing in a KZ camp since the mid 1930's. No wonder he keeps shtum about his poetry! I'm just mentioning an historical fact; I'm not a supporter in any way of Nazism.
Surprisingly accurate though, throughout most of the 30's the nazis only considered people with 2 or more Jewish grandparents as jews and the concentration camps were reserved for political opponents (such as trade unionists) up until 1938.
Given that this is taking place between 1-5 September 1939 he would have certainly had reason to be afraid. The previous 12 months of his life saw the night of glass, forced emigration, changes to the definition of jews and the infamous "Vernichtung" speech.

I know this is 3 years late but WW2 submarines were submersible boats as opposed to submarines like we have now. They primarily ran on the surface with the ability to run underwater for a few hours at a time to sneak attack a target or escape a destroyer or aircraft.

silent hunter 4 was amuch better game even its 9 or years old compared to this . u can see this game is far more easier like come on helth bar wtf. its supposed to be realistic. the developers have slacked on this game soo much
I have played both and both are really buggy and need mods to play and enjoy. As to the health bar I don't like it either but judging a game fully on that is a preference, not a bug. I think most people like 4 over 5 because you play as America. Can you play both through till the end vanilla? Yes. Can you have game breaking bugs in vanilla on both? Yes.
