It's kind of funny that the elderly people are the only ones directly speaking against this change. However, I think the possibly for accidently trapping a human brain into a pig is horrific.
This a short video. There are plenty of younger people who are aware of the potential ethical line being crossed. It’s one thing to edit mutations to correct an error in the genetic code; it’s a completely different thing in building a genetically superior human for the wealthiest in society, which is an obvious advantage over most and outcome of this technology.
main problem is when you think anything right you forgot to notice you are also doing something wrong... example when you change the color of eye.. its not just the color its the reasons that color is chosen too is changed..or partially changed... which means complex alternations on evolutionary subsystem... which may be good or bad.. same for other changes..
The only reason for this isnt for the general populace, but against the population... Aliens have taken over our leaders.... Its them against us... Not usa vs china or russia vs Ukraine... Its the global leaders vs us....
DNA engineering, also known as genetic engineering or genetic modification, is the process of modifying an organism's DNA to achieve specific desired traits or characteristics. This can involve inserting, deleting, or modifying genes in order to create organisms with new functions or properties. DNA engineering has a wide range of applications in fields such as agriculture, medicine, and biotechnology.
Finally, moving from slow and painful natural selection to the faster engineering of species to avoid all the misery of the last few billion years. Great.
"Every cell in the human body has 6 billion letters of the DNA code - That's the number of letters in all the words in 1 thousand Bibles. And think about 1 misspelled word in a stack of 1 thousand Bibles due to one wrong letter. That 1 letter error can put a boy in a wheelchair." This information contains some inaccuracies and misleading comparisons. Let's address each point separately: 1. "Every cell in the human body has 6 billion letters of the DNA code": This statement is incorrect. While the human genome is composed of approximately 3 billion base pairs, which can be seen as "letters" in the DNA code, not every cell in the human body contains the entire genome. Most cells in the body are specialized and only contain the genetic information necessary for their specific function. Only reproductive cells (sperm and egg cells) contain the full set of DNA. 2. "That's the number of letters in all the words in 1 thousand Bibles": The comparison to the number of letters in 1,000 Bibles is not accurate. The number of letters in the Bible can vary depending on the translation, but it is generally much higher than the number of base pairs in the human genome. Comparing the two is not meaningful. 3. "1 misspelled word in a stack of 1 thousand Bibles due to one wrong letter": This analogy tries to emphasize the potential impact of a single genetic mutation. While genetic mutations can occur and have various effects on an organism, it is misleading to suggest that a single letter error in the DNA code will automatically lead to a severe consequence like putting a boy in a wheelchair. The impact of a mutation depends on its location in the genome, the function of the affected gene, and other factors. It's important to exercise caution when presenting scientific information and ensure that comparisons and statements accurately reflect the scientific understanding.
@@christian78478 No, you need correction. Lots of corrections. Your first statement is totally wrong. 1. The human genome (=amount of genetic data) counts 3 billion base pairs. But a duploid cell (most of our cells are duploid) contains each chromosome in pairs, so it gets to 6 billion base pairs/cell. Only haploid cells like sperm and egg contain to 3 billion base pairs/cell. Your next statement is completely wrong ("Most cells in the body are specialized and only contain the genetic information necessary for their specific function. "). Our specialized cells still contain all the genetic information, but they only keep relevant ones active. A gene can be turned on/off, and regulated in a number of ways. Your next statement is also completetly wrong ("Only reproductive cells (sperm and egg cells) contain the full set of DNA.") No, sperm and egg cells contain half the set of DNA. 2. He correctly correlated the number of letters in 1000 bibles to the number of base pairs in one duploid cell. 3. Your next statement is based on the wrong interpretation of what the scientist said. He did NOT say that "a single letter error in the DNA code will automatically lead to a severe consequence". He said that it CAN lead to severe consequences. You got one thing right: "It's important to exercise caution when presenting scientific information and ensure that comparisons and statements accurately reflect the scientific understanding." That is why you should learn a subject before talking about it.

Also with ai being here, how safe are programming jobs in the next 5 years? I'm getting mixed opinions about this question and I since I don't know how to code I have no idea which opinions to side with

All the sciences of information (and genetic edition like printing in 15th century or IA in 21th century are related to information) are subject to the tongues of Aesope ‘What could be better than the tongue?’ said Aesop. ‘It is the tongue that teaches and enlightens, the tongue that praises and entertains, it is the tongue that strikes bargains and makes promises.’ ‘How can you serve up tongue as the best possible meat one day, and then the worst meat the next?’ ‘What,’ replied Aesop, ‘can be worse than the tongue? What evil is it not involved in? Violence, injustice and fraud are all debated and resolved upon and communicated by the tongue. It is the ruin of empires, cities and friendships.’

There needs to be a gathering from all significant global corners. Legislation needs to be implemented to ensure this technology is developed correctly and safely!
In my opinion, natural selection exist for a reason this thing of tempering with things that have yet to be understood completely will be the death of us. We have seen this movie before and it always ends the same way
Part of natural selection is that the smartest humans use their intelligence to alter "natural" sufferings. Abusing the technology is also part of "natural'' selection as some people from a diseased mind and/or being Improperly raised that lacks the morality can abuse it. What is 'morality"? Is it immoral for parents wanting their kids be healthy and have advantages in life by possesing traits that society deem as good? There always pros and cons, It this case I think the pros outweigh the cons.
In the developed world, we have already eliminated 99% of natural selection. That's why childhood mortality has dropped from 47% before age 20 to about 1%. Why do you not worry about that development?

I'm glad that person brought up (~11:30 mark) the plastic surgery aspect, have you seen what plastic surgery does? It makes them all look the same. And if genetic diversity is lost, much like REAL beauty aesthetics, do we lose our humanity too?
"How do you decide if someone is human?" "I don't. It's not up to me to assess someone's humanity. Being human in our world is synonymous with being included into the framework of society. Humanity entitles one to certain rights and privileges, but also implies voluntary acceptance of laws and rules of conduct. It transcends mere biology. It's a choice and therefore belongs solely to the individual. In essence, if a person feels they are human, then they are." - Ilona Andrews
This is more scary than a horrific movie. I was told as a child that what really makes you human, or the child of your parents it's your DNA. Once yours is altered I don't think you are human even if you look like one.

Not for research. That is not a controlled environment. The bigger issue is the cleaning. They have to clean every day and they can't get an area like that clean enough. Even assuming they have the space which is dubious due to the number required. Also could have issues like dogs eating a bunch of dirt. Some of the dogs clearly have a larger area. No reason they couldn't have larger cages without tops, but I assume its because they breed them and have a ton. Sucks but unsurprising. Especially in China.

We're born , we live, we die. Why are people so afraid to die? Yes , some die sooner than others and that is sad, but we as humans should be welcoming it instead of looking for ways to prolong it.
Not all genetic engineering can be done by evolution. That’s why only one race on planet Earth became intelligent and everybody else (including all the other similar species of primates) continued evolving normally without becoming “humanly intelligent.” If anything, I think that these advances prove that we are here due to similar genetic editing, rather than because of natural evolution.
Science means helping people, not being perverted. The three-parent procedure was a perversion of science, and things like that are what turn people against science. This video went out of its way to be disturbing.
It blows me away the millions of people who consume pharmaceutical therapy and self induced administration with absolutely no basic knowledge in any branch of molecular sciences. Semaglutide is one of the most recent fads. We will be seeing a huge surge in diabetes related diseases.
The gene modified mosquito have been a great help for Malaria in Nairobi Kenya,I can 100% say there is no Malaria in Nairobi for years now unlike surrounding areas

They inject this bacteria into a species of mosquito and when they go to reproduce, the likeliness of the virus that they spread will be minimized the more they reproduce reducing viruses transmitted by them. It was very interesting.
If humanity wants to travel space on day, which is one of humanity's dreams, than it will have to be a race of humans that are genetically modified to be travel in, and to live in, space for their lives... This a short video. There are plenty of younger people who are aware of the potential ethical line being crossed.
Great.

That's true.
Nothing new under the sun. 1:9 days numbered homie stay loving and safe blessings 💯
The way Dr. Olson explained DNA at the beginning was brilliant.
He didn’t explain DNA.
"Every cell in the human body has 6 billion letters of the DNA code - That's the number of letters in all the words in 1 thousand Bibles. And think about 1 misspelled word in a stack of 1 thousand Bibles due to one wrong letter. That 1 letter error can put a boy in a wheelchair."
This information contains some inaccuracies and misleading comparisons. Let's address each point separately:
It was slightly unsettling, but you should put aside socializim and science
And here I am thinking my coding skill is great, these researchers are in different league all together.
