Amazing video! Great for comparing the handhelds I was looking at. I love how indepth you go, and you dont come across as simply parroting the same basic points as most reviews I've seen. Subscribed!
The Brick is likely replacing my Miyoo Mini, but I must say I have some gripes with the design. It has a plastic screen and the function buttons should have been the same color as the shell. Nothing dealbreaking, but that make me appreciate how cohesive and charming the Mini really is.
I'm thinking to get a trimui brick, i already have a mm+ and a a30. But i feel the screen on mm+ is not that good, my reds looks like pink while my a30 looks accurate. The quality screen in terms of colors, sharpness, contrast is worth the upgrade from the mm+ to brick?
The MM+ w/ Onion OS is such a killer combo. I'm waiting for the CrossMix OS review videos to come out, before considering buying the TrimUI Brick. Although I've heard good things about the TrimUI's hardware, I don't want to subscribe to a substandard software experience.
Trimui brick is good for the pocket and the best device is the one you can bring with you. I think the SP is the way to go or the 35 H with the screen guard cover. But i get it small screens arent good to look at.
I would get the brick but i had a bad experience with the trim ui smart pro. I bought it and within the first week i dropped it from 1ft high and the shoulder button broke where now its like jammed into the device. I took it apart and saw that theres only a tiny square piece of plastic holding the shoulder button in place. In comparison my r36s was only 18 dollars. And has pretty much the same performance and has been much more sturdy. I'm trying to decide between these here in this video and the rg40xxh. It does look like the brick is built better than the smart pro at least
Bummer about your TSP. The R36S isn’t even close to performant with 3D games compared to the TSP but if you are sticking to traditional 2D emulation it is definitely a great handheld, I have 4 of them. I’ve thought the TSP was too sturdy, the original handhelds had difficult shoulder buttons to push in when they came out but they have updated that since then. Brick is a quality build but so is the 40xxH. Anbernic makes some great handhelds. It really comes down to how big of a screen you want and what you want to play. With the H700 SOC in The 40xxH it is very slightly more powerful than your R36S with its RK3326 SOC. So it comes down to screen size or power. Hope that helps
@@CellPhish its been pretty close tbh. I havent found a game that i couldnt run on the r36s that I could run on the trim ui. Maybe on paper but its actuality its not much more powerful at all. like 5 fps maybe. actually some games run better on my r36s like TMNTSR for example. but i link it may be because im using amber elec. its got alot better performance than ark os. about a 5 to 10 fps boost in some games. Either way the brick does look to be built better with the metal plating and all. maybe ill give it a shot. the small module that was holding the triggers in place on the trim ui was just laughable once i opened it up. im like no wonder it broke. either way i appreciate this comparison and i subscribed.. because ive been looking to get something more pocketable than my r36s that may be a bit nicer for edc. Still cant decide but I may end up with them all spread out like you have before i find my end game. they all have their pros n cons. that screen on the XXH is gorgeous though. I may just grab it for that alone
The button raddle on the 35xxplus is the reason I sold it not too long after purchasing. I don't expect perfection but build quality is important to me
The button rattle on the 35xxPlus and the 28xx are absolutely due to them being rushed out. The tolerances are too sloppy. Nice to find someone else who understands, most people act like I'm crazy when I bring it up
Dreamcast dont perform to good in my experience even with crossmix. But Naomi runs great. I recommend the brick just becaise crossmix has psp vulkin support on the brick and smart pro. It feels much more powerfull then it should.
I agree. I've been using the Brick so far during my entire vacation with a pre-build of Cross-MixOS. It's pretty awesome and I can't wait to see what this firmware brings
I literally have never ever used the speaker on the miyoo. Or any device. I don't understand why you would, considering iems and external speakers exist and are available in any situation
I have all but the Trimui Brick. The Miyoo mini while it has the superior OS I just always replace it with a different device, I’ve even customized it with buttons and stickers but it’s never held my attention for long. The RG35XX plus for some reason I really love it just feels the best my hands especially with the custom grip/cover I I bought for it, it just gives me that Gameboy nostalgia and other than the non skraping I really like MuOS. The 40XXV I have used a bit, the bigger screen is nice and it does fit nice in the hands but I just don’t have a nostalgic feel with it as the plus I guess.
Good input thank you. The Brick for me is the ultimate winner. You really can’t beat the screen. I understand how you feel about the Miyoo Mini’s though I tend to fall back to them. Stay tuned I’m going to do a metal shell swap once I receive it, maybe just maybe that will hold your attention better. 😊
Solid observation. With a 4” screen it may have pushed it out of this price range however. There must have been a few of the brick screens laying around because 3 handhelds dropped with it
Stellar Breakdown. Even a month later still one of the best when it comes to info discussed and delivery 👌🏾
Sub earned.
Thank you, I appreciate the sub as well
Thos is a fantastic comparison and breakdown. Ive watched dozens of retro handheld emulator top lists and I was impressed by yours. Liked & Subbed. 👍
Thank you much

Appreciate that thank you. And thank you for the sub

Not sure they could have lit them if they were the same color but yes I do like that an out the Miyoo. I'll probably get some custom buttons for mine

It's a pretty obvious upgrade in picture when comparing the two.
Miyoo w/ Onion does nearly everything right with the exceptions of not being able to drive a TV, and the weak speaker.
The Miyoo is solid, I've continued picking them up for their simplicity and ability to just work the way you want
Nice video! That rg35xx plus looks amazing!! Where can I get those green/yellow buttons???
The place that I got the buttons closed up shop I think
I'll wait for the Top Horizontal and 1:1 comparison!! Great video :) new Sub
Thank you. You read my mind I'm working on those as well. I appreciate the sub

I’m working on a Cross-MixOS review now

I also like the sp and 35xxH. The screen on the Brick draws a person in which might sound crazy but it’s pretty nice

Miyoo Mini + w/Onion OS for me out of those 4. TrimUI Brick has a lot of potential, but the software just isn’t there atm.
Yep that's fair. CeossMixOS is close, I'm hoping it'll be there by the time it officially launches
The button raddle on the 35xxplus is the reason I sold it not too long after purchasing. I don't expect perfection but build quality is important to me

@CellPhish i don't want an expensive box of tiktaks. I want a handheld 😆
Flappy talkie hands 🤪
what OS are you running on the 40xx and what theme?
I’m running knulli on it still from a video I did a couple weeks ago. Not sure the theme but I’ll check for you
@ I tried Kelli and love it but the battery drain was a deal breaker. muOS took a while to setup but now I’m liking it a lot more.
Which one do you think have the best looking screen? Not for the size, the Quality
By far the TrimUI brick has the best looking screen hands down
Dreamcast dont perform to good in my experience even with crossmix. But Naomi runs great. I recommend the brick just becaise crossmix has psp vulkin support on the brick and smart pro. It feels much more powerfull then it should.
Valken was a big improvement combined with cross-mix
I just realised I have buoght all of these too and I agree, the Brick is the best one.
How can you run 2x Dreamcast if both the 40XXV display and the original system res is 640x480?
Not a lot of benefit but the hardware handhelds the load. So more or less a load test
Brick seems like an investing in future.. But today right now miyoo mini is a kind of God of super pocketable consoles (with OnionOS of course).
I agree. I've been using the Brick so far during my entire vacation with a pre-build of Cross-MixOS. It's pretty awesome and I can't wait to see what this firmware brings
LETS GOOOO
PLAY RETRO
@AlexT0210 Thats me 👾👾👾
Holla, published just for you 😂
This video was really well done, and I learned a lot. I've been waffling between these and this helped me.
Appreciate that thank you
I literally have never ever used the speaker on the miyoo. Or any device. I don't understand why you would, considering iems and external speakers exist and are available in any situation
It's very rare that I ever use mine either. I think I only ever use it playing GTA
Oh I do. I like to share how much I’m enjoying my games with everyone around me.
@FunningRast lol I love it
You should try cfws
I do on all my handhelds. I make a lot of guides for them as well
40xxv screen isn't 16:9 it's 4:3. PS1 will fill the screen.
Correct 👍

Can I be your friend?
I’m not here to say no 😂
I wish rg40xxv had the same screen resolution as brick does. It would be the best device ever in this price range
Solid observation. With a 4” screen it may have pushed it out of this price range however. There must have been a few of the brick screens laying around because 3 handhelds dropped with it
