Why this man isn't an international superstar is beyond me. I'll bet there aren't twenty men on the planet earth that can sing that song like that, Paul Robeson would tell Lawrence, "well done!"
This man makes me cry literally his voice is so strong and clear and he gives so much to the performance while seeming to be a truly humble soul .....beyond words
A wonderful voice but more importantly depth of feeling. As a young singer he has time to polish his craft and take it close to a Robeson, Warfield level. What separated William Warfield was that final line I'm tired of living and scared of dying, but old man river he just keeps rolling along. The crescendo and power of that voice was from planet heaven, not earth. Only god could outdo that. That being said Lawrence Beamen is a wonderful talent. I hope to hear more of him.
"Determined to rise above his humble beginnings, Lawrence pursued his passion for music with intense focus, while also earning his masters degree in psychology."
I saw him perform this song live in the musical Show Boat at Foothill College many years ago, and I never forgot him. Gave me goosebumps then, and still does. It's a shame he never went beyond AGT. What a talent.
music industry's controlled, .... there're soooo many slave songs that were total hits: Hotel California, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, The Boxer, Neil Young'/s Old Man, Jimi Hendrix' All Along the Watchtower, Bob Dylan's Mr. Tambourine Man, Freddie Mercury's Bohemian Rhapsody [the man he killed was himself, by signing on w/the Jesuit-controlled music industry], Buffalo Springfield's For What It's Worth, and so many more screaming that they don't keep the money they make [they all suie their managers, lol] but the Jesuits & NWO freaks use the music industry to centralize wealth in the world, ... NWO FREAKS!, lol, ..... , ... Beamen wouldn't be a slave, ...... total respect.
Awesome! Breathtaking on AGT. Was hoping to hear you sing this again!! Paul Robeson would be so proud to hear it done so well. Helps keep Kern and Hammerstein's music from Show Boat alive today!
Thank you Ron Leon! I was just getting on here to write the exact same sentiment! I love Lawrence Beaman's voice! I keep checking online to see if he has been hired for a soundtrack. Lawrence you give me chills and bring me to tears with your voice. I hope this year we get to see you perform live because I do not think there will be anything in my life quite like seeing you sing. Well done and you are indeed one of my favorite artists! Follow me on Twitter @beaviewon

Brilliantly sung! Lawrence has the perfect baritone voice for Ole Man River, but also does the inflection throughout the piece masterfully.
I'm tired of living, But scared of dying, powerful performance
I love purity and honesty this is the baritone version I heard in the last 20 years, so big up Mr Lawrence , respect

Well he's certainly no Paul Robeson or a Samuel Ramey. Not even on their cosmic level.
Wow
