Thank you. It was a treasure for me to find this film and then to be able to share it. All of us who got to see Santa's Village and other places in the Bay Area like the Nut Tree, the Boardwalk, Frontier Village, the Tree Circus/Lost World, and Playland at the Beach, really appreciate that we could. Fortunately the Santa Cruz Beach and Boardwalk is holding up against the storms.
It really was something else. The population was a lot smaller then too and yet it managed to make a successful go of it. At least Santa Cruz still has its Boardwalk.
When I moved here in January of 1971 I remember my mom taking me to Santa's Village and also some dinosaur park that was across Highway 17. Then later on is adult I was a contractor at Borland International there at Granite Creek Road and they had a desk and a stool from the original Santa's Village.
Yay, I am 2nd person to view your video. You should post it to SV Historical FB group. I never visited Santa's Village but remember the commercials on TV
Yay, I'm glad you found it and left a nice comment Thank you.. It was a charming attraction, especially for the smaller kids like me at the time. I also remember the nearby Lost World in the 1960s which had previously been named the Tree Circus. Some of Axel Erlandson's original trees are still on view at Gilroy Gardens. I'm not on FB but hopefully they will enjoy watching the film here.
We went in the 60s and early 70s. Also a place nearby, I think, Petrified Forest? Guy had trained a bunch of trees in certain shapes and had dinosaur statues. ❤️
Wow, great memories of this fantasy land for us kids of the 60's and 70's. Grew up there. Thank you for this.

I'll never forget this magical place, which I visited in the '70s.

The dinosaur park was called the Lost World. It was formerly the Tree Circus of famously grafted trees created by Axel Erlandson.
Memories of this and Frontier Village.
Fun memories. Also there are rumors that I have film footage from Frontier Village. I wonder if I should look into that?
Memories!
Indeed!
