BROTHERS IN BLUES is the story of brothers Jimmie and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Jimmie and Stevie went from a small, post-war house in Oak Cliff, Texas to becoming rock and roll legends, selling millions of records and playing alongside the likes of David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Jackson Browne, Carlos Santana and more. A portion of the film is devoted to Jimmie and Eric Clapton’s first ever on-camera interviews about the night that Stevie died. Featuring newly revealed photos, home movies, and previously untold stories, BROTHERS IN BLUES is a rare and intimate look into the tragedies and the glory of the Vaughan brothers as told by Jimmie, Eric Clapton, Jackson Browne, Billy Gibbons, Nile Rodgers, as well as bandmates and friends from the early days of their enduring legacy

As the producer of this film, I need to explain to some posters that every interview with Stevie and every one of his performances is already on the Internet. I am trying to bring NEW stuff to you in this film. No other doc on SRV has on-camera interviews with Eric Clapton, Jimmie Vaughan and Billy Gibbons. Jackson Browne tells you things you didn't know before, as does Nile Rodgers. I'm trying to show you NEW things you have never seen, or heard before.

I was fortunate enough to see Stevie 3 xs. Once w BB King at The Greek in L.A, once at Benson & Hedges Blues Festival w Etta & whole bunch of amazing people, & the last time w Jeff Beck.
UNFREAKING real, after the 1st time, I went to work the next day, & everyone was asking well, how was it?? There were no words, he was just amazing. Hearing on a cd, or the radio is one thing, watching him perform, like a religious experience lol.

50 bucks for your 1st guitar ( early 60s?) must have been a scorcher, my first guitar was found in a dumpster ,a classical with 2 strings ,a week later I became Buddy Holly ! Then a small miracle was granted me. A neighbour needed £90 pounds to fix his jeep and he turned up on my doorstep with a 60s Gibson SG jr with just the 1 pickup, as soon as I strummed an A barre chord on it I gave him the 90(maybe he ended up with 80) we now had a real guitar to plug in to our Fender Quad Reverb which was all the amplification we needed. Guitar, bass and microphone blasted out of that amp everyday ! This is going to be a treat to watch!

it seems each season is theme-based. season 1 was country, season 2 was funk....
I would imagine season 3 would be Punk or 80's Glam rock???? who knows... I guess Blues could easily be season 3... Judge loves the blues... so why not? Remember also the show isn't about glorifying these celebrities as much as it is kinda poking fun of their quirks. DO you think a bunch or SRV fans could take Judge poking a bit of fun at SRV without getting offended like snowflakes and 13 year old girls? I personally would love it.

poking fun at the quirks of musicians who are loved around the world is a dangerous game in cancel culture world. Honestly I'd rather see SRV poked fun of a bit than I would see his name constantly invoked with tragedy. Its as if you can't say his name without saying he died. But man HE LIVED... that's the thing... HE LIVED and he lived Large! Some of the feuds between the two brothers would make for good tv too... as well as drunken and high stories...

I don’t think that’s the case, he is very much alive and experiencing a massive resurgence thanks to TH-cam. His death comes up only from a “damn he was such a great guy, I can’t believe that happened” perspective.
And for many, it’s a massive what if… he was entering superstardom. I can tell he wanted to branch out, he was getting jazzy… he told band mates he wanted to expand the sound. Grunge/Alternative was just starting to take over and Stevie is personally responsible for Pearl Jam as we know them, because their lead guitarist literally quit college and committed his life to music after having a “religious experience” seeing Stevie at the Gorge in Washington around ‘89 or ‘90. You know there would have been collaboration there.
It’s a real crime that he was taken… the world is absolutely poorer for it.

I started college in Fall of 1979 at Southwest Texas State University (SWTSU, Now called Texas State) in San Marcos, Tx., 25 minutes south of Austin. Saw SRV many times along with Eric Johnson, Fabulous T-Birds, and all the other Austin bands like LeRoi Brothers, etc. This was when Austin WAS Austin, not like now. Now it's "Austin, California", bunch of immigrants from California and elsewhere. We'd see all national acts at bars like the Liberty Lunch, Club Foot, Antones, and the South Park Meadows on I-35. Eric Johnson would play at the Cheatham Street Warehouse in San Marcos and we got .99 cent pitchers of beer there. Truly magical times. I saw T-Birds with SRV sitting in with them at the Gruene Hall in New Braunfels for a Gruene Hall Anniversary party. Take me back to the 80's please.

JRV was a total D Bag to his brother. I don't know what happened in the last five minutes of the man's life, but for years Jimmie would beat the crap out of Stevie for "stealing" his licks, and calling himself Stevie Ray when only Steve was his name. Jimmy Ray is Jimmie Ray and Stevie wanted to be like his older brother so he put the Ray in there himself, and all he got was a slap in the face. Once SRV got famous, Jimmie had to capitulate and make nice if he wanted to play with his now super famous brother. But had SRV not skyrocketed to fame Jimmie didn't even want him playing on the same circuit. He did everything to sabotage his brother when he first heard the buzz, and knowing he is still making money off his brother's legacy is sickening.

    • @Pecos45
