  • Korean Fried Cauliflower is one of my favorite Cheesecake Factory appetizers. In this economy, we don't go out for dinner that often anymore, so I like to recreate my favorite dishes at home. This dish is easy to make, only 10 min of prep time, and if you serve it over rice, you can turn it into a full dinner.
    Enjoy

    Korean Fried Cauliflower Recipe:
1 medium head cauliflower cut into small florets
    oil for frying
3 scallions thinly sliced for garnish
1 Tablespoon sesame seeds for garnish
    Batter:
    1 cup all-purpose flour
    2 Tablespoons cornstarch
    1 teaspoon baking powder
    1 teaspoon salt
    1 teaspoon black pepper
    1 teaspoon paprika
    1 cup water
Combine flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, pepper and paprika in a bowl and stir to combined. Whisk in enough water until a thin batter is obtained.
    Glaze
    1/3 cup soy sauce
    1/3 cup mirin
    2 Tablespoons brown sugar
    3 Tablespoons Gochujang
    1 Tablespoon cornstarch
    2 Tablespoons water
1 Tablespoon toasted sesame seed oil
    4 cloves garlic, chopped
In a small bowl add the soy sauce, mirin, brown sugar & Gochujang. Whisk to combine.
In a small bowl stir cornstarch and water to make a slurry.
    To Assemble:
Heat up your oil in a pot to medium heat.
Toss 1/3 of the cauliflower into the batter to coat evenly. Shake off excess batter before adding it into the oil. Let cauliflower cook until crisp and light golden colored. Remove cauliflower onto a plate lined with paper towels. Repeat the process until all the cauliflower is cooked.
In a medium skillet on medium heat, add in your sesame oil and then your garlic. Stir and cook for 1 minute until garlic is fragrant. Add in the soy sauce mixture and bring to a simmer.
Then whisk in the cornstarch slurry and cook until thicken.
Add your fried cauliflower to a bowl and drizzle the glaze over the cauliflower, stir to coat. Garnish with sesame seeds & sliced scallions. Served warm.
This dish can be eaten on its own, as an appetizer or serve over rice.
