I bought this camera last year and think it has been greatly overlooked. It's a fantastic piece of kit that produces quality results. One of the high points for me is being able to use my thumb on the touch screen whilst looking through the digital viewfinder to select my focal point. Once I began using that function I wondered how I ever did without it.
*subbed* much love from vancouver canada, that's awesome i've been looking at the m6 mark ii or the eos R or RP or 90d or m50 so many options!!! that osmo pocket seems like the perfect companion!
Thank you 🙏 Yes, the Osmo pocked is a great little camera and I haven’t used it any less since I got the M6 mark ii. Seems you have a couple of choices. Do you need full frame or is APS-C fine for you? If you don’t mind the crop sensor then do you prefer light and compact or more robust and weather sealed? The 90D and M6 have the same specs but I was surprised how much bigger the 90D is. I went compact with the M6 mark ii to make travel easier.
RustyRoj yeah I’m really torn because I have a eos m and t6s is my girlfriends which I am borrowing until I can save up for my own camera which is nice of her. So maybe I’ll upgrade the eos M to a m50 or m6 mark ii and I’ll upgrade the T6s to a Eos RP or Eos R or EosR6/R5 the osmo pocket seems like something nice to have for the time being! Love the idea of that is there a reason why you didn’t go with a go pro ? And how are you able to have nice crisp audio on the osmo pocket? Thank you 😊
RustyRoj I like the 90d too but the m6 mark ii seems nice to have the speed booster option, if I were to get a 90d I would skip it and get the Eos R because I can still use my EFS lenses on the Eos R but with the RP the efs lenses are only in 720p and I’m okay with 1080p for right now so honestly seems like if I want 4K the m6ii is the smarter choice. The eos R stays in the 1080 zone and the 90d can do 4K but not full frame. It’s nice to keep the options open but the 90d kit is around the same price as the Eos R body so I’m not so sure anymore 🤔 but I did try the 90d in the store and it was amazing to vlog with and I’m just making videos for tiktok and TH-cam maybe I’ll invest more of my money into lighting lenses nd filters and audio rather than camera body because that’s the real thing I love the look of the 16mm f1.4
Audio and lighting are super important. Those do need to be on the top of your list. The M6 mark ii for me has everything and is so much lighter than the 90D which makes it easier to vlog with. Just remember if you use EFS lenses on a full frame camera, like the R, you might get some vignetting around the edges as those lenses are built for APS-C sensors.
RustyRoj absolutely! And thank you! As for the vignette i know the eos R goes into “crop mode” at 1080p so it is treated like a crop sensor but I do understand how you mean from my use with speed boosters, I don’t know anyone who really likes the 90d unless they just need a tough body but I’m really leaning towards the mirror less guess I just gotta decide if I’m going to go with m6ii vs the eos RP/R or save for the R5/6 I forgot to mention is there a specific reason why you didn’t want to get the m50?
Bryan McGowan I have one on order but the shops here were all shut down before it arrived. At least I have that to look forward to when lockdown is lifted. Lucky I have the EF adapter so I can mess with more the just the kit lens.
I’ve actually made a follow video last year. I still love the M6 markII. I don’t feel like I’ve reached it’s limits in my work yet. The adapter just acts as a spacer for Ef and efs lenses to replace the gap between the lens and the sensor you have for the mirror in a DSLR so it doesn’t effect the focal length. The only focal length adjustment to make is to do with the crop sensor size (1.6x) to work out full frame equivalent fov. ie; 50mm on crop sensor has the equivalent fov of an 80mm. th-cam.com/video/TARLt0OYFFE/w-d-xo.html
@@RustyRoj that's my main goal, as I've recently started filming weddings, so having the same colours will really help. Grabbing the M6 was mostly for gimble work, but it'll become my main.
Thank you for watching. Yes, I would have bought the Canon as this kit that came with the viewfinder, Kit lens, EF adapter and EF 50mm was the same price for me as the A6400 body only. Also the full touch screen and Canons excellent menu system I thing is far more use friendly. If I’m giving anyone advice though I would say to go for the Sony if you mostly want to shoot video and the Canon if you want to either 50/50 or mostly shoot pictures. So it really comes down to what your planing on using the most for. On a personal preference though I love the look of canon images and video over the Sony. That’s purely objective bias though.
the view868 Thank you so much. The M50 is a great camera. I was very close to picking one up myself before I found the M6 mk2. The Osmo Pocket is what almost all my vlogs have been shot on so far up to buying the Canon. It’s such a versatile little camera that I don’t think I would ever want to leave out of my kit.
Thank you for watching. That little mic is the Saramonic SR-XM1 3.5mm TRS. It’s a great little pocket able mic. www.amazon.com/Saramonic-Omnidirectional-Microphone-Camcorders-SmartMixer/dp/B01N6P80OQ Though I do plan to get a shotgun mic when stores are open here again.
Samy Jacobsen the widest native lens for the M6 mark ii is the EF-M 11-22mm. But you can use the EF/EFS adapter or a speed booster to get a wider field of view with EF or EFS lenses. The EFS 10-18mm would be a good pick.
The best case I've found for this camera is Lowepro's GearUp Medium Camera Box (www.lowepro.com/us-en/gearup-camera-box-medium-lp37145-pww/). It perfectly fits the camera along with quite a few accessories such as the charger, battery, additional small lens, etc. Everything is neatly packed into a case not much bigger than a paperback book.
Thanks for sharing this. Sorry the comment sat in my “spam” section because of the link. I’ve been looking for a good solution for sticking my camera gear into my backpack when travelling. I have a camera sling for day trips but not a camera bag that also suits travel with everything else I may need.
No offence taken. Thank you for watching. Unfortunately while my country is in lockdown I haven’t been able to get a better mic than the one I have. It’s better than an internal mic but something I hope to be replacing as soon as I am able.

considering upgrading from the m50. Thanks for the help.
I’m glad I could be of help. Best of luck making a decision.

I’m yet to spend much time with the view finder. It’s something I generally am more likely to use once I can start getting into portraits again.
Thank you for another excellent review!

That means i made a great decision of getting my M6 mark II. Thank you.
It’s a great little camera. I’m sure you’ll get a lot out of it.
I bought this camera 2 months ago, it is a great pleasure using it - I just did the firmware update to ver 1.1 - so log
Yes I just grabbed the firmware too. Can’t wait to play with the 120fps.
It is such a great little camera. I love it
I feel it’s also a very underrated camera. I’m looking forward to playing with more lenses too once we’re allowed out to buy them again.
@@RustyRoj Hugely underrated. I am using it for paid jobs. Dumped a nice big DSLR in favour of it.
@@RustyRoj Also, the 16mm Sigma is amazing

Been 2 years now, how is it now? also, with the adaptor, what was the focal length change to get used to?

@@RustyRoj that's good to hear, I'm used to cropped sensors so hopefully I won't notice much of a change from my 90D
It’s the same camera in a smaller body and without the mirror so it should feel pretty similar to use and the images will be identical.
@@RustyRoj that's my main goal, as I've recently started filming weddings, so having the same colours will really help. Grabbing the M6 was mostly for gimble work, but it'll become my main.
I’m going to have some gimbal content soon I think. I’ve been moving about so haven’t had the time to make videos for a few weeks.
Awesome video! If you don't any have existing Canon lenses/gear would you have still chosen it over Sony's a6400?
Thank you for watching.

No problem. I’m always happy to share and help.
Is there an ultra wide angle lens for it ?

It was just great timing as I was on the app already. I also do a lot of thinking about lenses and a lot of trying my best to not buy them all.
RustyRoj Great nevertheless 😊
great review

Soft pictures compared to M50.
Are you talking about Photos or Video? Have you tried both cameras? I’m interested in how you came to this conclusion.
@@RustyRoj video is nice but still photo are little soft . My personal opinion.
If you have any more camera, can you give me .I am in Sri Lanka.
No I don't sorry. I'm lucky to just have the one.
