    As to the people who gave this a dislike - do they not realise that this sort of ability, drive, determination and passion only happens perhaps once a century? 5 years on from this, we know just how much he has developed both technically (if that were possible) and musically. There will always be people who are both jealous and ignorant, but thankfully, there are plenty of musicians and music lovers who can revel in this lad's commitment, and frankly, mind blowing pianism. My hero has always been Gilels, but Malofeev must surely join the club of all time greats.

      You might be right about his underlying talent. But he was raised as a competition thumper and that's what he is and will remain. He views each moment as another chance to make himself stand out as a thumper, he's never actually tuning in to the music. Everything is to demonstrate his fingers. Gilels was an actual musician. The music breathed through him. Probably if he'd have been raised as a competition thumper he'd have turned into this too.

    This video could not be any more adorable and exciting! From his forgetting to shake the conductor's hand at the beginning and quickly getting up from the bench to do so, to his wiping the sweat from his head (and his hair!) during the pause between movements, to his smiling during the enormous applause and points to the entire orchestra, AND THEN, holding his hand over his heart not only while the audience continued their applause but he kept his hand over his heart while he exited the stage! All this plus his performance was FLAWLESS and beautiful!! And he's 12 yo. Just amazing.

      Obviously, he was one of the great composer's students, and he just remembers everything, anyway he's one of a kind. Most musicians don't need to learn how to read music, they simply know. There was a 16 year old in my class at the Music Conservatory that could sight read everything, Chopin studies were what we asked more, but he didn't want to study music, he was from a family of musicians. 5 years later, he put an end to his life 😢

    This artistic genius breathes his notes! I love how the Conductor and orchestra caught his artistry and it looks to me they remember what it means to play gloriously and lovingly themselves! This venue is so perfect -the sound on the recording isn’t as powerful as the concert hall must sound in person! But, WOW! What a treat! This orchestra had deep roots and tentacles into this piece and loved playing every second because they knew, from the first Movement, Maestro Alexander lived inside this piece! What a triumph.

    • @DovidShaw
      @DovidShaw 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is why he is so good. If you take A = 1 B = 2....Z = 26 then
      PIANO PRODIGY = 149 = DIMITRIEVITCH (PV)
      DIMITRIEVITCH MALOFEEV = 228 (PV)
      A VIRTUOSO PIANIST = 228 (PV)
      PV means Placement Values and I have added the values of the letter. So PIANO = 16 + 9 + 1 + 14 + 15 = 55 PRODIGY = 16 + 18 + 15 + 4 + 9 + 7 + 25 = 94 so 55 + 94 = 149. I'll let you work out the rest.
      And yes, by using this code and 4 other codes (connected to this code) I can show how dozens of prodigies are connected to their instrument they play. My book Musical Prodigies will soon be out. Probably in under 2 weeks. I can do this with scientist (connecting the name of the scientist to their invention ) with actors (for example DANIEL CRAIG = 83 = JAMES BOND + COWBOY), with artists (LEONARDO = 84 = MONA LISA) sports people, authors and others. So its all in the name!

      @Gottenhimfella 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@hoofhearted3035 Indeed. You make a very valid point. Furthermore: I happen to know a number of people with the given name James Cameron. None of them have anything in common with each other, or with the famous movie producer whose name they happen to share. One is no longer even the gender s/he was born with.
      Everyone who has lived and had a large social circle will have similar experiences with their group of close acquaintance, but even without that blessing, the notion that every "John Smith" has the same life trajectory, for instance, is frankly fatuous.
      So the predictive power of Jethro's "system" is demonstrably lacking: it works only with the benefit of hindsight. It can tell nothing about a person which the person applying the rule did not know before applying it, otherwise we could tell in advance what every John Smith or Joan Scott would do with their life, and it would be the same story for all of them.

    Such a joy to watch this young man! Now, in 2021, he is a young adult and better than ever, but it's still fun to observe him as a youngster...so talented and gifted and dedicated to "his profession" (his words from an interview when he was just 14-yo). Can't wait for Alexander to come to the States...hopefully this year!!

    I cannot add any more words to explain Alexander’s genius for everyone’s comment have said them for me. Genius-been said; unbelievable-been said; absolutely ‘followed by any adjective one can think of-been said; etc.; etc.; etc.… So now, from my mouth to yours, or better yet, from my iPad to your iPad, computer, PC, or whatever you own, there is nothing else I can say or write that has already been said or written many times over. GENIUS, BRILLIANT, BRILLIANCE, A GIFT FROM GOD, ETC.
    How good will he be when he reaches the age of 35? I believe his genius will be off the charts. But will there be a way to measure his genius? I can only believe that he will be that good-genius-plus.
    I am not a Russian, but I have visited Russia in 1974 during the Cold War and can only state that I am so very happy that the Russians are blessed with Alexander’s brilliant brilliance and his genius. A TRUE GIFT FROM GOD AND FORTUNATELY THE COLD WAR IS NO LONGER AN ISSUE-I HOPE. I can only wish that he return to the US for a grand tour not just to ‘Great Orchestra Cities like NYC, Chicago, Boston, Houston, Minneapolis, Cleveland, Los Angeles, Seattle and others, but to cities that are not known as great orchestra cities but still have good orchestras. The whole United States must be given a chance to listen to his playing a great pianoforte like the Steinway & Sons, or a favorite of mine-the Fazioli Pianoforti which is, I believe. now bettter than the Steinway in some metrics but not all-to audiences in lesser known orchestra cities that have good orchestras like Miami, Atlanta, San Francisco, Austin, Dallas/Fort Worth, San Antonio, Columbus, OH, etc, etc, etc. I don’t care if it takes 12 full months to play in primary and secondary cities but it must be done.
    There is another pianist from England that has played since he was six years old but to date has not been able to get out of the secondary orchestra cities mostly in the Balkans. Alexander has gotten out of these smaller cities in Europe but the English pianist has not yet broken through the spider’s web. Both are extremely talented young men and until a pianist plays in the United States in the BIG orchestra cities and release an album neither will go nowhere.
    I can only hope for the best for Alexander Malofeev and the English pianist.* They both deserve the very best of tours, agents, pianos and exposure. And exposure can only be gained in the US-not in Europe.
    *Please note that I have not named the English pianist. I have chosen not to do so because this is Alexander’s website and not the English pianist’s.

    This then kid was so far beyond his years in maturity, self-discipline, determination, interpretation, skill, etc., etc., etc. etc. etc. Every kudo was well earned and as he begins to grow into manhood, I really can't imagine the heights he's going to reach. This young man will be writing his own ticket that's for sure.
    And now to the audience. Ya gotta love the Russians who are exceedingly good at recognizing talent. I wager to guess that a huge number of them have had at least some training in at least one of the performing arts and they love to show their appreciation when one of theirs succeeds. It's warming to see how supportive they are of the talent they have come to see and hear.
    P.S. Perhaps I'm off base,; still I have the hope he travels around the world several times over throughout what will be a stellar career, but that he keeps Russia as his home base by choice. A lot of time, effort, expertise, public support and love have undoubtedly been showered on this hard working, talented young man. I think they would be sad to see him leave. I just hope the "atmosphere" makes it possible for him to remain in his richly cultured homeland. He does the Russian people proud as do so many of their artists.

    I listened to this radiant interpretation last night and decided to return again tonight. As I enjoyed it even more so the chorus to a little ballad I composed in the mid-seventies came to mind: “The children are so beautiful; the earth belongs to those who know the secret of the child-like heart, they are who love the best, they are who love the best.” The prophet Isaiah wrote, “.........and a little child shall lead them.” Well, for me It is apparent that the purity of soul inherent in children, especially those who have an expressively musical gift as this musician, has very ready access to their spiritual psyche and the congruent emerging genius that cultivates and tempers the physical prowess needed to grow and perfect virtuosity and mastery. This young man’s teacher also perceived his innate fearlessness
