I just ordered my Fightbox a couple of days ago. I got the F8 PS5 version. I bought my original Hitbox in 2014, It was time for an upgrade. I have to say I did get my money's worth because it still works to this day.
Been looking since im in a similar situation... Got the 1st gen hitbox and wasnt sure if i should attempt to upgrade it or just get something new, although the old hitbox is still running strong but still.
Welcome aboard! If you dig fightstick stuff, I try to post around once a week with more reviews, DIYs, tech, and part breakdowns! Thanks for hanging out!
Your review of the f1 convinced me to purchase the f10-PC! Arrived in 2 weeks. Love it. For anyone wondering, they now detail what combinations of buttons to press to change the SOCD mode further down the product’s page(in my case I use SOCD-Neutral to be inline with Capcom). Also, you can make any of their PC versions work with the PS5 simply by connecting it to a Wingman FGC Converter from Brook.
Have you tested the PC versions with the converter? I thought it had to be a PS4 version, lot of conflicting information online. Bought a F10-PC and hoping it works with a converter

@@HushMySweet1hi can we request 3 type of SOCD Cleaners in one fightbox... Like SOCD neutral with last win and SOCD priority in one fightbox.. Works on ps4 and PC?
@@imohbalu They use Brook products for all of their models except the pure PC one. That means you can go to the Brook website and download the appropriate firmware upgrade files. A launcher will prompt you to hold start and select as you plug in your stick. Then it should recognize the PCB and initiate an update. You can choose between "tournament" or the previous SOCD cleaning mode. The tournament cleaning is compliant with the newest CPT change regarding D+U=N. The other mode has it so it's D+U=U. You can install whatever one you want. I think these controllers come with the newest firmware as their standard though.
@@HushMySweet1 hi Sr, thankyou for your update... can you please show us how to download SOCD priority D+U=U / B+F=F / F+B=F.... i really need you to test this on SF6 and SFV .... if SOCD priority can work on both games i am sold on this fightbox ..... please forgive me for being picky because i already wasted a lot of money in the past on items, Controllers and products i ended up never using.
This is actually the first all button controller I bought a while back. The 250 for the hitbox was too much of a gamble since I didn't know if I would even enjoy it. Alot of people say that the stickless controllers are more ergonomic for the hands but for me it actually felt the opposite. My hands started to cramp fairly easy from the new position so my transition came to an halt 😂😂 About the controller it's amazing and well worth the money if you don't want to buy the official hirbox.
Yeah, I can play on joysticks all day, but I can get similar hand issue if I play all-button too long. Go figure. Thanks for watching/commenting, John!
@johnlund3088 I had a similar issue. The 24mm buttons for my right hand were too small and made my hands feel cramped. I tried my friends Shiokenstar controller and that made a big enough difference that i decided to give them another shot.
I actually have the Fightbox B1 - I initally got it as a cheap hitbox-style controller to test, before committing to a proper build. The only thing i wasnt a fan of was the Mechanical switches on the B1. I much prefer Sanwas. Great budget hitbox though! On that note, my Eternal Rival stuff came in last week and I got my full build completed and I'm very happy with it! Assembly was very easy and simple and the customer service from ER was great. Would highly recommend for a future video from you!!
@@Agelesslink Depends on how big you like them. You can get PS5 compatible Minis, so if something like the Snack Box Micro appeals to you more over the traditional Hit Box, then the Mini B1 might be up your alley.
My hands are much smaller than average so i was wondering if a mini would suit smaller hands? I like the price of the B1 so I’m interested in getting it but i hope the buttons aren’t too far away for my fingers because in the past I’ve had problems trying to make tight commands due to the buttons being out of reach funny enough. I dunno, but i hope a B1 mini would suit me
@@crimson_godot8611 I think that model uses 24 mm buttons for every single action and movement button, so it's probably going to be close to your ideal. Hope it works out for you.
i bought the pc version of the DIY RAC J800B around the beginning of the month, and i gotta say it's quite the box for its price. it has 3 different modes: xbox 360 x input, switch controller and ps3 mode which i never really expected, but it's actually really useful and i even play switch games (that im able to, like kirby returns to dreamland deluxe) with it, and it's a blast with the DIY option i got it with custom artwork along with some button colors, and it's pretty sweet
@@BigPeter93 about a weekish, im from canada and since it was custom made it had to be shipped from china so it arrived a lot faster than i ever thought
Hey Hush. I got the PC version which has a different PCB than the PS5 Brooks one. I keep hearing people are having issues with the PC version so I was wondering if i should just get the brook PS5 PCB anyway and just swap it out to avoid issues. If i need to do that, is that a straight forward transplant or will i need to glue stuff and fenangle it?
What was in the PC version? A Brook Zero? Also, I'm not sure why you'd need a full PS5 one if you only plan on playing on PC. Problems can be sometimes fixed with upgrading the firmware, so maybe start there. If you want to replace the Brook Zero because yours is still having problems, you can replace with a RP2040 Advanced Breakout Board (something like what you see here: sgfdevices.com/products/sgf-gp2040-ce-advanced-breakout-board-pe ) I don't know how they have it set up in your stick, but worst case scenario you may need another wiring harness or something if they've done too much solder/glue stuff to the board. A new board plus a wiring harness would be a fairly easy swap though since they are basically plug and play. Still, you should look at the rationale behind changing it all out, especially if you haven't encountered problems yourself or don't need PS5 compatibility. Anyway, good luck!
I was scared away from purchasing one of these precisely because of the similarity in branding to Hitbox, came off as a cheaper looking rip-off but it's good to know they're selling quality products. Still a bit pricey for what you get IMO but the fight-stick market isn't cheap to begin with I suppose.
Yeah, I wish they had more of their own unique vibe, but the unit itself felt pretty good. As far as price goes, I usually consider trying to assemble oneself, and if it's already got a Brook PS4 board (like $40) plus the PS5 addition (like $60), we're already in for a hundred. If someone wants something ready to go off the shelf, or can't find a reasonable case option, then this starts looking better and better. I was pleasantly surprised with it all things considered. Thanks for watching!
@@HushMySweet1 No problem! I'm a fan from the UK and went for an Okiboard in the end and it is my new favourite thing. I'm new to fighters and have bad wrists so needed a hit-box style controller, would like to see what you think about it if you ever get the chance. Good luck and keep going!
Mmmm...hard to say since there are so many switches out there. I have another video on this channel where I compare different buttons. I think that Sanwa buttons have a fairly low actuation threshold compared to some other models. If you want keyboard switches in your buttons, you could grab some Gamer Fingers or some Crown 202s and carefully replace to your choice of switch.
@@elo_888 No, I wouldn't say that. Switches are all preference and have little to do with combo consistency imo. A default option in a lot of all-button controllers is the red switch (50 gf), but I typically like dark yellows which have a higher actuation threshold. The reason being is that I can rest my fingertips on the buttons so I don't fatigue as quickly and I get fewer accidental inputs since a press needs to be slightly more purposeful. I have a whole video on this channel showcasing different switch options if you'd like to learn more. But at the end of the day, it's preference imo. Thanks for watching!
Hey, after watching your video I finally got my hands on a FightBox myself and I love it. Just one thing about the Brook board update: Which one am I supposed to download and then how does it work? Because I have downloaded the PS3/PS4 Fighting Board firmware update and there I have to press PS + Share/Select. I tried it with every button and none worked the way I thought they would. So which buttons do I have to press while plugging the Box to the PC and which firmware update do I need?
You'll need to download the version of firmware that corresponds to the PCB you have in your stick. I loaned my FightBox out, so I don't have one to test for you, but when the menu prompts you, I'd hold down two of the aux functions and plug in the stick. Didn't work? Unplug, hold two different buttons, and plug the stick back into the PC. Rinse and repeat until you find the correct combo. The green start button should become available when you have it correct. The new Capcom Pro Tour compliant firmware is called "Tournament" in the Brook drop-down menu, I believe. I figured that would be the default on newer builds. You can check in training mode though. Hold down and then press the jump function. Did you jump? Then that's old firmware. Did you stand up slightly? Then it's likely the new firmware where D+U=neutral. Good luck.
Can you do socd backdash with this for non competition? So if you hold back and tap forward does the forward register as another back input? Or does B+F = Neutral only?
I don't think you can enable that how it sits out of the box. It has a Brook board with two options for firmware (one with the old style of D+U, and one with the newer CPT-compliant neutral style). You'd need to look into another solution if you wanted that enabled. Thanks for watching.
@@HushMySweet1 basically i have a mixbox and Left + Right = Neutral but if i press and hold Left, then tap right whilst holding down the Left,.. i get another Left input... this is good for back dash cancels ( korean back dash in tekken) and i was wondering if this does the same thing
I don't see why it would be an issue, so without tearing it apart and testing, I'm gonna commit to a yes. I typically go with screw-ins on most of my builds and I don't think I've ever seen an instance where they didn't work. Like, sometimes a case is designed with snap-ins in mind so there will be little grooves for the tabs so the screw-ins sort of lock in place, but there was nothing like that on this one. Screw-ins should be safe.
@@HushMySweet1 Thanks for your reply! I guess I'm really not still sure.. I've also used screw-ins before without problems but that was when they attached to a metal plate, not a plexi one like the fightbox. Oh well, guess I'm just gonna have to take my chances and test it myself :) Take care mate!
I have a mini update hush. The F9 was perfect for me. Shiokenstar Layout (Hori stick preference) and the 30mm attack buttons worked out well for me. I only wish I had a few extra buttons mapped for L3 and R3 by the attack buttons for that quick and dirty DI and parry. Truth be told i am having a very rough time learning and sticking with the leverless but im starting to get the feel of combos and things. Im trying to do at least an hour a day until my ring finger stops feeling so sluggish.
Right on! If you need another button mapped as R3, I actually just released a video yesterday on a dual button COMBO extension you could install there (I don't know what board you have, so ease of installation might vary). Anyway, I'm glad you're still at it. 40% of viewers of this channel reported it took them a month or more to get proficient at it, so definitely don't give up too soon. Thanks for checking in and best of luck in the journey!
Tbh, I don't see how the hitbox can even compare. It's a box with sanwa buttons, so is the fightbox. One works on PS5, the other does not, it's a no brainer tbh.
Yeah, I think until they get their CPT firmware situation fully resolved and they have a comparable PS5 version for around the same price, it's looking better and better for FightBox.
Could I order one of these and change the buttons to clickier ones if I wanted to? I’m new to arcade sticks but I’ve seen some people change their I was just wondering if that would be difficult for this one?
Button swaps will be easy with this. If you want something clicky, you may need to get some tactile switches in a Crown 202 or Gamer Finger or something. Check out my arcade button vid to see the different sounds. I think I put a cherry blue in a 202 in that vid so you can hear if that is clicky enough for your liking too.
Idk if you still use it but do you think it will last long? I plan on buying one as my 1st leverless and im curious about it's build quality. And what wire does it use?
They have several types of these (both button layouts, but PCB internals as well). If you want Switch compatibility, you've got a few options. Look into these models first: the F1-PC, the F1-UV, or the F1-UFB-UP5. Good luck and thanks for watching!
I lent it out so don't have it to test for you, but it was recognized fine on the systems it was compatible with and I didn't have to configure anything out of the box.
No, it would be fine. You'll need to get an option with PS4 compatibility (I think their Brook PS4 one is listed at $170 right now on their site). Sometimes you may need to update firmware, but it should be good.
Slide your left hand fingers from right, to down, to left (all in one smooth motion). Then, as you finish with that left hand input, with your right hand, hit a the appropriate level punch for which strength SPD you want together with the jump function. It's all very quick. The benefit to Gief's SPD is that it works the same on both sides (even with joystick), so you only need to practice this one way and it will work consistently. Good luck!
how on the f1 ps5 edition do i switch through the sticks like to right analog, left analog, to the d pad? mine didn't come with instructions what buttons do i hold or hit to get it to switch though them?
Hey could you make a tutorial video on how to install the ps5 upgrade kit? I have the exact same controller but not sure how to install the upgrade kit.
This one came with it installed, and I'm also not sure what the internals look like on your model. But! If it's exactly the same as this here (it probably is), then get your Brook PS5 upgrade daughter board, pause the video at 2:11 , and install the wires as shown there. There should only be a few new connections. The red and black wires coming off it will lead to the power and ground, respectively. Good luck.
The version in this video is both CPT legal and PS5 compatible. You may need to update the firmware if it isn't but that's easy and Brook has a "tournament" firmware update for download on its website and it all installs super easily. If you went with a different non-PS5 model, the Wingman should work there too.
@@gerradwalker346 Yes it does so long as you have a version with Brook internals. And if for some reason it's running an old version, you can still update it yourself. Download the appropriate firmware from the Brook website, run the files and it will boot up a prompt, hold down two buttons (I think it's like start and select, but it will prompt you to tell you which), plug the USB into your computer while you're holding those buttons, and then click update. You should be able to choose from "tournament" or "controller" and the one that's labeled "tournament" is the new one that is Capcom Pro Tour compliant. Very straightforward process, but like I said, a lot of the newer Brook stuff comes ready to go with the new firmware update. Good luck!
@@HushMySweet1 oh wow so you're saying that this Brook board site has all the firmware updates? And not the direct website that we bought this from? Does that mean that the BrookBoard website can be used for any Brookboard product?
This is a good video and im subscribing because you included info for people about the capcom rules and that there is a firmware update👊🏽 i dont think this really matters that much for because i dont know if im ever going to any tournaments especially since this a new option for me. Still wanted the option to change it tho. I have a question tho..would you be able to convert back to the old firmware after updating?
Hey! Thanks for your nice comment and for subscribing! You can change the firmware back if you would like a different SOCD option. There is a drop-down choice in the launcher when you update.
It's a mix of Heat Haze Shadow. You can find it (and several other fighting game OST synthwave versions) on this channel if you're interested. Just go back through the video history or click on the synthwave playlist. Thanks for watching!
Is it comfortable on your wrists when playing? Hitbox is known to be uncomfortable compared to mpress since theres less wrist rest, and the edges aren't smooth
What version did you get? You would need a board inside that plays nicely with the PS4. The Brook PS4 board or Universal should enable that compatibility. If you got a board that's PC only, then there's nothing you can do outside of buying/installing a new PCB.
I loaned this out, but I think I assumed the "FightBox" was printed on the paper underneath and not part of the actual plexi. I can't check to confirm atm, but I would be surprised if this wasn't how they did this.
Yes, if you have the Universal board. Go to their website and have a look at all of the options. The price will change along with the compatible systems depending on which PCB you choose.
Hi, nice video, i was thinking on buying this one, but with the recent SOCD i was hesitating, coul dyou tell me wich kind of SOCD does it have UP+DOWN=UP or UP+DOWN=NEUTRAL? And by anny chnance do you know if it can be changed? THANKS😊 Forgot to say im planning on getting PC only so thats why i ask about SOCD
They said they will have options for PC users, but nothing at the time of this comment. All of their units with the Brook boards should be fine with the new firmware update though (and all of those can play on PC).
@@HushMySweet1 so let’s say I want to connect it to my Xbox series s or Xbox in general with a brook or mayflash adapter would it be functioning with the Xbox even tho it has a PS5 board ?
I think a Brook Wingman XB adapter would work for that. But if I knew I would be playing on all consoles regularly, I would just get the Universal PS5 version since it plays on Xbox and PS stuff, and it would all be ready to go under the hood.
Just got it specifically because you reviewed it (and a couple others tbf). It's a really great entry leverless, but imo it's probably the only one I need. It's awesome for less than half of hitbox.
@@HushMySweet1 hey I opened it up and noticed I got the zero pi pcb. Is it worth it to change to Jensen's IPFB? And what would you recommend if I wanted to do a wireless build?
I have an interest in reviewing every fightstick/leverless controller, lol. That's just my compulsion (and half the reason for this channel). Most of the time, people reach out to me to regarding a review, however, and that one isn't currently in the line-up. I don't see a Pico version listed on their website, but I would anticipate it's largely equivalent to the currently listed PC version (except the GP2040 would obviously outpace the Zero Delay Arcade).
I loaned this out to a friend about a month ago to see if he liked all-button controllers, so I can't check at the moment. I want to say that it was artwork/plexi and should be easily changeable though. FightBox offers custom prints on their website and I can't imagine they print custom art plexi runs.
Yes, if you choose the Universal board option or the one specific to Xbox. Xbox one = "Support Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Xbox Original and PC" Go to their site and toggle the PCB options to see the price change accordingly.
my fightbox just stop working i think there is some kind of problem with the cable it kept disconnecting from the game by itself and i had to remove the cable and plug it back in but today it just died 😅
1) Make sure you know what type of board you have in there. 2) If it's Brook like this video, then you'll need to go to the Brook Accessory website. 3) Find the corresponding PCB in their lists of downloads and then download the appropriate one. 4) Run the files you downloaded. Your computer might try to stop you, but click the okay and get it going. 5) Once it's running, it should prompt you to hold down two buttons (I think it's start and select off the top of my head, but just read the prompt) while you connect your device to the computer with the USB cord. If you did it right, then the prompt will change. Click on either "tournament" or "controller" depending on which SOCD mode you want. The "tournament" one reflects the newest CPT changes and makes it legal in Capcom tourneys. 6) Hit start. It will fully update in like 5 seconds and show the update was finished/successful. Everything is done and you can unplug the device. Good luck!

On that note, my Eternal Rival stuff came in last week and I got my full build completed and I'm very happy with it! Assembly was very easy and simple and the customer service from ER was great. Would highly recommend for a future video from you!!
Awesome job on the Eternal Rival stuff! Glad to hear the assembly went smooth. I'll have to add it to my list!
Would the mini b1 be better or worse???
I just ordered mine. Im really excited!
Nice! I hope it serves you well!
@@HushMySweet1 I hope so too. The PS5 controller is really bad on Tekken
i bought the pc version of the DIY RAC J800B around the beginning of the month, and i gotta say it's quite the box for its price. it has 3 different modes: xbox 360 x input, switch controller and ps3 mode which i never really expected, but it's actually really useful and i even play switch games (that im able to, like kirby returns to dreamland deluxe) with it, and it's a blast
with the DIY option i got it with custom artwork along with some button colors, and it's pretty sweet

Great review again !!!
Thanks again! I appreciate all your support, Victor!
How do sanwas compare to keyboard switches?
Mmmm...hard to say since there are so many switches out there. I have another video on this channel where I compare different buttons. I think that Sanwa buttons have a fairly low actuation threshold compared to some other models. If you want keyboard switches in your buttons, you could grab some Gamer Fingers or some Crown 202s and carefully replace to your choice of switch.
@@HushMySweet1 thanks for sharing! Would you say it’s more consistent combos due to lower actuation point on sanwas?
@@seed8325 Not sure, but that's interesting. I loaned this out to a buddy so can't test, but I'll try to remember when I get it back.
@HushMySweet1 did you test back button held yet?
Is it possible to use screw-in buttons here instead of snap-in buttons? I'm curious about wether or not they will tighten themselves on the plexi..
What kind of connecting cable does the fight box for pc use?
I didn't get my hands on the PC version, but I'm assuming they will all use a USB type A to B cable like the one shown here.
@@HushMySweet1 perfect! I needed to get another one!!
@@HushMySweet1 Thanks! ✌️
Idk if you still use it but do you think it will last long? I plan on buying one as my 1st leverless and im curious about it's build quality. And what wire does it use?
Yeah, it's as sturdy as the standard branded HitBox. Quality is pretty on par with similar competitors.
@@HushMySweet1 nice tnx.

They have several types of these (both button layouts, but PCB internals as well). If you want Switch compatibility, you've got a few options. Look into these models first: the F1-PC, the F1-UV, or the F1-UFB-UP5. Good luck and thanks for watching!
Hello I have a question ,when u plug in does it recognize it as xbox or ps controller or do you have to configure it to work in game ?
I lent it out so don't have it to test for you, but it was recognized fine on the systems it was compatible with and I didn't have to configure anything out of the box.
Do you think the fightbox f1 would disconnect often on my ps4 or would it be alright? Ty for the vid
No, it would be fine. You'll need to get an option with PS4 compatibility (I think their Brook PS4 one is listed at $170 right now on their site). Sometimes you may need to update firmware, but it should be good.

How do you do Zangeif SPDs in on those anyway ?
Slide your left hand fingers from right, to down, to left (all in one smooth motion). Then, as you finish with that left hand input, with your right hand, hit a the appropriate level punch for which strength SPD you want together with the jump function. It's all very quick. The benefit to Gief's SPD is that it works the same on both sides (even with joystick), so you only need to practice this one way and it will work consistently. Good luck!

Good luck.

Thanks so much!
Whic verion is cpt legal and ps5 compatible? Also does the brooks wingman ps5 converter work on this?
The version in this video is both CPT legal and PS5 compatible. You may need to update the firmware if it isn't but that's easy and Brook has a "tournament" firmware update for download on its website and it all installs super easily. If you went with a different non-PS5 model, the Wingman should work there too.
@@HushMySweet1 does the firmware have the CPT up/down neutral rule thing?

What version did you get? You would need a board inside that plays nicely with the PS4. The Brook PS4 board or Universal should enable that compatibility. If you got a board that's PC only, then there's nothing you can do outside of buying/installing a new PCB.
Can you remove the paint from thr acrylic to put on your custom art?
I loaned this out, but I think I assumed the "FightBox" was printed on the paper underneath and not part of the actual plexi. I can't check to confirm atm, but I would be surprised if this wasn't how they did this.

Most of the time, people reach out to me to regarding a review, however, and that one isn't currently in the line-up.
